[Bug 354305] Re: g++-4.3 regression, rejects valid code
I noticed some peculiar behavior recompiling old code that I had turned in for a class. If you note the screen shots in the attached folders Take_Home_1 and Take_Home_2, both programs compiled just fine with g++ 4.2 in Hardy, 32 bit. (Both are first level subdirectories of Midterm_mStephens) Using Jaunty 64 bit Beta, g++ 4.3 from here on out. When I try to compile TakeHome_1.cpp in it's own folder, I get the following error: TakeHome_1.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: TakeHome_1.cpp:24: error: ‘system’ was not declared in this scope line 24 reads: system(reset); Now, TakeHome_2.cpp compiled in its own folder just fine, and it has the same line, in about the same place. It ran just like my screen shot shows. So I moved the two files side-by-side into the TakeHome_2 folder, to see what the difference was. The only difference is that TakeHome_2.cpp has the line: #includealgorithm So, just to see what would happen, I included algorithm in TakeHome_1.cpp and compiled. TakeHome_1.cpp compiled just fine into a binary and ran like a top. I have no idea why #includealgorithm should have this affect. The binary, TakeHome_1, was never in the directory, TakeHome_2, previous to making this bug report. I attached my homework with screen shots to show that it all did indeed compile in g++ 4.2, using Hardy. The information in this bug was obtained by dropping a copy of my Midterm_mStephens folder into my home directory. You should be able to reproduce this by repeating this, and compiling the relevant pieces of code. The results of the last year's test are used as a study guide for the next year's version. My instructor can be reached at: fred.rich...@cvcc.edu There should be no problem with posting this, except that it might not be the most elegant code posted on this site. I did not check any code of mine to see how it compiled. You are welcome to compile it for testing purposes. All should have screen shots of the program running properly in g++ 4.2, Hardy Heron, 32 bit. ** Attachment added: Midterm_mStephens.tar.gz http://launchpadlibrarian.net/25863845/Midterm_mStephens.tar.gz -- g++-4.3 regression, rejects valid code https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354305 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 210303] Re: [hardy] kaffeine loops on Codec package is already installed
For whatever it is worth. When I installed Kaffeine under Gnome, I had no such problem. Just as soon as I installed the Kubuntu Desktop, I started getting the endless codec loop. I hope this helps track down the problem. Also, I tried doing a complete uninstall (incl configuration files) of the Kubuntu Desktop and all the dependencies I could find of it. After going through the tedious process of uninstalling every KDE package I could think of, the problem persisted under Gnome. I have a Compaq Presario Laptop (1.5GHz Pentium M, 512MB 400MHz) that I might be convinced to use as a guinea pig if anybody has some ideas they'd like me to try. The machine is practically new. I'm going to wipe and reload the thing to test various operating systems. Why not yours? WARNING: I only check this email weekly, usually on Sundays. I'll try giving it a check a little more often, say Wednesdays and Sundays. Ubuntu is way overextended. It was applied to the new partition #2 after installing Hardy this time. I included this in case it might be relevant. Machine #1 Single, Clean, Recent install of Gutsy --- Upgrade sucessful Machine #2 Triple boot: Window/Gutsy/Hardy Beta--- Total Crash Machine #1 (logs will be attached in next comment) Upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy Beta. Went fine with one odd error. Noted error message dealing with X followed by another message saying it was not a fatal error, distribution upgrade in progress. The machine briefly threw me back into the login screen before restarting. Machine#2 (logs attached) I thought I'd repeat the bug and succeeded. I have a lot of developer software on it. I was trying out compilers to learn the basics of C. I am not a developer. Many errors and messages dealing with KDE. Kdevelop installed. I was able to retrieve the logs because I upgraded the Gutsy partition, which I'm calling a loss. Attached is what I retrieved from the third partition which still runs Hardy just fine. The compressed file attached includes the Xorg configuration and logs both before and after the aborted install. [Bug 150051] Live CD Loads extremely slow
Public bug reported: My problem doesn't quite match any of the others. I posted this for tech people to look at. I thought it might be useful. No LSB module was available. This is Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 Beta downloaded and installed 10/06/07. The live CD stalls for several minutes. It takes 8 or 10 minutes to boot. Once boot it installs fine. My Dapper Live CD does not have this problem. I erased quiet and splash from the first boot command and copied everything I could get written down. The installation comes to a standstill for some minutes so I had time to copy it all. Specifically, the CD stalls for 2 or 3 minutes when this line posts: [4.188000] Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20 Then it (very) slowly goes through a set of error posts, taking up to ten minutes to load. Once loaded it seems to work and install fine. I actually discovered that it would load at all taking the time to copy the screen posts. I simply copied everything I could see while the installation was stopped, or going at a crawl. Scroll to the relevant parts. I did my best to copy everything exactly as I saw it.
