I'm afraid my setup has changed significantly since then also, so I am unable to even attempt to reproduce this one, sorry. [Bug 1034600] [NEW] Suspend powers back up immediately
Public bug reported: Recent upgrade from 11.04 to 12.04 and suspend doesn't now work - it always used to in 11.04. The machine suspends down, the powerlight goes off and ~1sec later comes back on and the machine comes back up to the "screen-lock login" Shutdown also has the same problem (it shuts down then powers back up - cold boot this time) This has happened on this PC since Ubuntu 7.something, but the suspend problem is a) new and b) very annoying as now I can't use suspend and must leave the PC on all the time. [Bug 310732] [NEW] Laserjet printing fails at cupsd/filter/ps2pdf
Public bug reported: When I print the printer dialog reports "Printer State: /usr/lib/cups/filter/ps2pdf failed". This occurs with test page (although ablank page is ejected when I do this) and with an image printed from the image previewer. Also when I print from mutt (via a2ps). This time I got a line down the centre of the page (as it was attempting to put two pages into one, so that's the centre divider). Sometimes a dialog appears saying things went wrong "Print error, there was a problem processing document `(stdin)' (job xyz)" Clicking Diagnose prints a testpage (blank as before) then hangs for alot of debug output. Why is it running ps2pdf anyway? Printer is a Laserjet 5M with PS simm, duplexer, >11MB memory. Connected via ethernet (Jetdirect, port 9100). Printing from our Windows laptop is fine. Printing from this PC was fine under Hardy. I'm sure it used to work under Intrepid, but can;t be sure, nor when it stopped working. OK, thanks. That's a bunch of "local slang" I don't understand I'm afraid - I'm not dim, and I've been hacking since I was about 8 years old, and using Debian for a good few years now, followed by Ubuntu. However, nowhere in Adept Manager can I see a mention of "universe" or "gutsy-updates". Calling it a "choice" is a bit extreme, I don't recall making a choice about "gutsy-updates" ever! I have Security updates enabled, recommended updates seems to be "grey" - what does that mean? And proposed and unsupported updates are cleared. I realise you are not "tech support", but I'd like to understand what I did wrong! Well, in that case, why doesn;t the upgrader do that for me? All I did was click the "upgrade me" button. Surely that shouldn't result in these sorts of errors - especially if they're already fixed?
