[Bug 178771] Re: Extremely slow rendering of some PDF Files
Updated with KDE4 results: XPDF : 2.0 seconds KPDF (KDE3) : 12.5 seconds Okular (KDE4) : 2.0 seconds Evince : 1.5 seconds epdfviewer : 3.0 seconds It seems Okular from the KDE4 build is much better, it's just a shame that KPDF is currently so slow. [Bug 83300] Re: FAAC hangs during processing arbitrarily long files (seems fixed in 1.25)
This appears to be fixed in Hardy with the updated version. [Bug 185105] KDE Print substitutes fonts which are available on system
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase I have installed a commercial OpenType font (Adobe Garamond Premier Pro) on my system using the KDE System Settings | Appearance | Font Installer. The font files were installed in ~/.fonts . The font is available to display in applications. Set as the default font in Konqueror, web pages are rendered correctly on-screen using this font. However, if I try to print (I have tried printing to a local PDF or to a network printer), the resulting file/printout has the font substituted with another. The same behaviour occurs when using KWord. However, If I try this same experiment with Firefox (which does not use the KDE Print system), the font appears correctly in the output. ** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- KDE Print substitutes fonts which are available on system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/185105 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for kdebase in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 153943] Re: Gdebi-kde uses massive amounts of memory!
I can confirm this on Kubuntu Hardy on x86 with an Athlon XP 2600+ and 512 Mb of RAM. I've just installed a few packages using gdebi-kde and the process took 52-56% of memory, accessed the hard disk a whole lot and generally slowed down the whole computer. -- Gdebi-kde uses massive amounts of memory! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153943 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 178771] Extremely slow rendering of some PDF Files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kpdf There seems to be a problem with KPDF which causes it to render some PDF files far more slowly than competing viewers, even ones which also use poppler, causing PDF reading to be unbearably slow on my OK system. I'll say that I've observed this problem with most PDFs. Here is one specific PDF which exhibits the problem: http://www.archive.org/details/unpopularessays027477mbp For the record, my system is an Athlon XP 2600+ with 512 Mb RAM. I have measured the average time taken to render page 100 of the above PDF in a variety of viewers, using an average of 3 measurements. XPDF : 2.5 seconds KPDF : 16 seconds Evince : 5 seconds epdfviewer : 8 seconds As you can see, KPDF is the worst performing by far. The large delay when switching pages makes it impossible to use it on a daily basis. Thanks a lot & happy holidays :-) ** Affects: kdegraphics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Extremely slow rendering of some PDF Files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/178771 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 176395] Kaffeine blocks sound card
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kaffeine Running Kaffeine 0.8.5 on an up-to-date Kubuntu Hardy on a system with an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 card. Kaffeine will not play sound at the same time as any other application. If I play something in Kaffeine then try to play something at the same time with another application (I've tried mplayer, VLC and Amarok), the other application will not output any sound. If I run the other applications when Kaffeine is not running, all output sound correctly and can play multiple sounds simultaneously. If I then start Kaffeine and try to play a sound in Kaffeine, Kaffeine crashes. ** Affects: kaffeine (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kaffeine blocks sound card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176395 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
