[Bug 1869881] Re: html file detected as unknown application/octet-stream

2020-11-03 Thread Matifou
Hi

I am still experiencing the problem! Creating a .whatever file, it opens
directly in gedit, using nautilus on a local drive. Doing exactly the
same using nautilus on a sftp, it will:

1) Complain file of unknown type
2) Clicking "select applications" will not suggest any default application, so
need to click on View all Applications. Then selecting gedit will open once.
3) Not remember any choice, so every time I close gedit and try to reopen,
problem 1) and 2) occur.

When was the bug thought to be fixed? I have:

$nautilus --version:
 GNOME nautilus 3.36.3
$apt list libglib2.0-bin
 Listing... Done
 libglib2.0-bin/focal-updates,now 2.64.3-1~ubuntu20.04.1 amd64
[installed,automatic]
 libglib2.0-bin/focal-updates 2.64.3-1~ubuntu20.04.1 i386

Thanks!

Same issue on Ubuntu 19.10 trying to access printer on samba share. Used
to work on 18.04. Not obvious if related to bug #1849859, al least error
message is different.

[Bug 855789] [NEW] dpkg: error: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/updates/0095' near line 0:

2011-09-21 Thread Matifou
Public bug reported:

Hi

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 from usb-creator on a CD live with latest
Ubuntu 11.10 beta 1. I did also the trick of removing casper-rw and
creating a partition with this name to have bigger permanent size (would
be nice if done bz usc-creator itself!).

I got a problem while upgrading, namely on the package usb-creator 2.28
itself. Rebooting, re-running apt-get update, I am asked to run dpkg
--configure -a

Doing so, I get:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
dpkg: error: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/updates/0095' near line 0:
EOF après le nom de champ «  »

I must say this is not the first time I get this! I had also had this problem
before, and hoped by using the latest Ubuntu and the latest usb-creator, I
would get better results!

[Bug 667578] Re: Kernel Upgrade on 10.10 Live USB runs update-grub

2011-09-20 Thread Matifou
Same problem here: installed Ubuntu 10.10 on USB with startup creator,
got this message almost immediately!

Tried the workaround, so was able to do a clean apt-get upgrade, but still have:
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages have been kept back:
  cups linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 4 not upgraded.

Are there any solutions to this? Had to install 10.10 instead of 11.4
due to bugs in casper and 11.4...

thanks

[Bug 270798] Re: lockups with default (hpet) clocksource on 2.6.27-2-generic 64-bit

2011-06-02 Thread Matifou
Hi

I have the same problem on a Dell Studio machine. I am now critically
affected by this bug: it freezes randomly, or reboots randomly... so
can't use my laptop more than 5 mins!

I had 10.4 installed, upgraded to 11.4 hoping it would be better...
problem still there! This could come with problems of over heating,
since I have also fan probles...

I do not show the error message as it is the same as all people here...
but happy to give more details if necessary!!

I understood that some poeple got rid of it by changing some options... excuse
my ignorance but I did not understand where following options should be
changed:
-noapic nolapic

in which fil eis it?

any help most welcome!!

thanks!!

[Bug 494753] Re: unable to start Ubuntu One

2010-03-30 Thread Matifou
Hi

I reopened the bug as I simply have the same problem. Very simply:
-Ubuntu One does not connect: when going with nautilus, pressing button
"connect" does not change
-When going to Applications-> Internet-> Ubuntu One: neither, nothing is
hapening

So for me this is a very critical bug, as I'm totally unable to use
Ubuntu One :-(

Please let me know if I can provide mroe information

[Bug 299141] [NEW] package r-cran-matrix build on old lib?

2008-11-17 Thread Matifou
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: r-cran-matrix

Still on Ubuntu 8.04, I updated R (2.7 to 2.8) from a third party source
(deb http://cran.univ-lyon1.fr/bin/linux/ubuntu hardy/)

This implied installation of new liblapack libraries, see (in french
sorry)

 sudo apt-get install r-base-dev
Lecture des listes de paquets... Fait
Construction de l'arbre des dépendances
Lecture des informations d'état... Fait
Les paquets supplémentaires suivants seront installés :
  libblas-dev liblapack-dev r-base-core tcl8.5 tk8.5
Paquets suggérés :

Les paquets suivants seront ENLEVÉS :

Les NOUVEAUX paquets suivants seront installés :
  libblas-dev liblapack-dev tcl8.5 tk8.5
Les paquets suivants seront mis à jour :
  r-base-core r-base-dev

But with the newly installed R version 2.8 I couldn't run some libraries
(Matrix and minpack.lm) neither installaing internally (sudo R |
install.packages("Matrix") ) nor from sudo apt-get install r-cran-matrix

Both installation ways give error message:
library(Matrix)
| > Loading required package: lattice

| > unable to load shared library
'/usr/lib/R/site-library/Matrix/libs/Matrix.so':

The only way which was functionning was to download the sources and
compile with sudo R CMD INSTALL , had no error message anymore.
