It happened again. Notes: I was listening to a podcast in Totem. Using gpodder. Xorg used >50% cpu Pulseaudio used ~10-15, opera 30-40. Htop, which I used to monitor this, suprisingly suddenly used 40% cpu, after closing opera, gpodder, totem. I rebooted the computer, and opened gpodder, a podcast with totem, opera and htop. Same thing. I am also experiencing this issue. I haven't found a pattern yet, though, but the cause seems to be related to web browsers. I'm using both Opera and Firefox, but Flash is disabled in Opera. I have these issues with and without compiz, and also with the nv driver. nvidia-settings modified my xorg.conf. Yeah, I agree with Tim. A dialog that tells you this is probably related to your home directory, would be nice. In my case, I had renamed my /home/username to /home/usernamebak, to backup my settings, and start afresh with Intrepid. However, I also did mkdir /home/username, which triggered this bug. A silly mistake by me.
