Re: [Bug 175743] Re: Bluetooth Mouse looses connection after some time of inactivity

2008-11-07 Thread Matt LaPaglia
I have the same issue as Ecantona.

generally works that way, sometimes I have to pair it again in order to
restore functionality. The problem can also be a defect of my mouse or
my bluetooth hardware since I experienced the same in windows too.

[Bug 285039] [NEW] MMC/SD memory card reader does not work

2008-10-17 Thread Matt LaPaglia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.27

The MMC/SD card reader in my Compal Hel80 does not work.

The SD part of the reader works fine, but when Sony memory sticks are
inserted, the latest intrepid release does not recognize this. The dmesg
results lack anything related to the insertion of the card.

I've had this problem since Feisty.

[Bug 229343] Re: saned cannot access the scanner in Hardy

2008-06-16 Thread Matt LaPaglia
I have to manually set permissions to the scanner device to be able to
allow remote users to use the scanner.

sudo chown root:saned /dev/bus/usb/001/002 sudo chmod g+rw
/dev/bus/usb/001/002

you need to replace the 001/002 with your own devices address, you can
find this by issues

scanimage -L

and pulling the numbers from that. Any ideas on how to make this
automatic? a terminal solution would be nice because i'm running server
edition with no GUI.

Thanks!

I got the internet working on the custom build, but my backtrace isn't
capturing the segfaults.

I can run gnome-keyring-daemon inside of gdb, but it doesn't report any
problems, and it also exits normally after outputting the folder it created and
the PID of the task. I can't install valgrind, because the site is bogged down
with ubuntu hardy down loaders and it is going very slow. I looked at the PID
of the keyring-daemon that segfaults, there are two of them for me, but the
specific PID is only created immediately after you log in.

I'm new to gdb, is there someway to get a backtrace?

[Bug 202089] Re: [hardy] Pulseaudio is blocking normal sound after resume

2008-04-20 Thread Matt LaPaglia
If i have rhythmbox open playing something, press pause, open firefox
and go to youtube, the video will not play. turning firefox on without
rhythmbox on allows youtube to work properly.

[Bug 88746] Re: ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices

2008-04-15 Thread Matt LaPaglia
I'd just like to say I'm experiencing this problem as well:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/216150

It's unfortunate it doesn't work as it should. My device can do both MSC
and MTP, but MTP doesn't work in gutsy or hardy, while MSC works in both
(hardy if you modprobe -r).

[Bug 59695] Re: High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime

2008-04-15 Thread Matt LaPaglia
Just an observation:

I've run through the diagnostics to see if this bug is affecting me,
currently I am at 20.790403139 loads per hour (233102 loads / 11212
hours powered on)

While my hard drive is idling, and the hard drive parks, it spins back
up _immediately_ , _every_ time. The estimated load count for my drive
(ST9100824AS) is 600,000, so I'm only a little a head of schedule (I
have been running Windows XP/Vista before Ubuntu on this drive.)

Wouldn't one presume that a hard drive park = it isn't being used = it
would stay parked longer?

[Bug 129433] Re: USB subsystem confuses serial devices with ehci controller

2008-04-14 Thread Matt LaPaglia
I can confirm this bug is still present in the latest hardy.

modprobe -r ehci_hcd with the drive plugged in makes it succesfully
mount (only when the player is in msc mode, not mtp).

running that command and then plugging in the media player doesn't work,
ehci_hcd is automatically loaded and takes control.

mtp mode doesn't work, it doesn't mount and rhythmbox crashes when you
plug a mtp mode device in.

[Bug 216150] [NEW] ehci_hcd can't mount usb media player

2008-04-12 Thread Matt LaPaglia
Public bug reported:

When I hot plug a sandisk media player into ubuntu hardy with latest
updates I get the following dmesg:

[ 3179.176331] usb 1-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5
[ 3179.486033] ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: port 5 reset error -110
[ 3179.486165] hub 1-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -32)

The drive fails to mount, and the media player doesn't charge either.

This problem is absent on Gutsy. I believe this is because usb devices
aren't handled by ehci_hcd. Other USB hard drives, mice, and flash
drives work fine with Hardy.

I don't know what package this goes with. I'm also not sure what I
should add onto this, so I'll shotgun it.

[Bug 211299] [NEW] Login Window Configuration Window Won't Start until Another Admin Process is

2008-04-03 Thread Matt LaPaglia
Public bug reported:

I downloaded startupmanager, and selected usplash themes, the hard
drive started clicking 6 times every second, even after the
startupmanager was closed. I had to restart to make it stop. Stopping
GDM didn't stop it. After the restart, I started startupmanager, and it
began clicking again.

I select System Administration Login Window, and it wouldn't pop up
until I start another admin process (like restricted drivers), once
Login Window opened, the clicking stopped. I'm a bit afraid to try it
again (what is my hard drive doing??)

I'm also not sure where this bug goes, any help?

[Bug 211376] [NEW] Bluetooth applet says it connected when mouse powered on, but mouse doesn't sync back

2008-04-03 Thread Matt LaPaglia

but the mouse's connected light doesn't appear like it use to, and the
mouse doesn't work. I have to remove the mouse from the applet, restart
the computer, and resync it for it to work.

Sorry, I meant to mention I was using the hardy beta. This doesn't
happen to me when I am running gutsy.

[Bug 209259] [NEW] Turning compiz-fusion off with screenlets makes them scroll with a window

2008-03-30 Thread Matt LaPaglia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz-fusion-plugins-main

If you have compiz-fusion enabled with screenlets, and one of those
screenlets (normally only visible with the f9 button) is on top of a
window that can scroll, will act like it's apart of the contents of that
window after you turn compiz-fusion off (which makes the screenlet
visible on the normal desktop).

I am currently running the latest git build.
Description:Ubuntu 7.10
Release:7.10

I expected the screenlet to stay stationary after compiz-fusion was
disabled, it did not, and it appeared the screenlet thought it was a
part of the contents of the window, scrolling with it.
