[Bug 1512111] Re: "Ubuntu Light" font has heavier weight than "Ubuntu"

2020-06-29 Thread Matthew Gardiner
If you install the Ubuntu Light font in Windows, and use it in say,
Excel, the bug is very evident, as it renders as a bolded Ubuntu font
natively.

I have seen the same behavior in Ubuntu itself, though it is less
reproducible.

There was a regression during the lucid development cycle caused
upstream in libparted that prevented manipulating partitions on a disk
with other partitions in use.  This was fixed.  If you still experience
this problem with the final release of lucid, reopen this report.

Re: [Bug 544520] Re: Cannot resize partition on drive where swap partition resides

2010-04-07 Thread Matthew Gardiner
You are missing the point. Re-read the initial bug.

I can resize a partition on a drive that has another partition mounted on it
(say, ntfs, or ext3). However I cannot resize a partition on a drive where the
swap partition resides unless I run swapoff. Perhaps this is inherent, but I
have never noticed it before.

Still seems like a bug, as this behavior is exclusive to Lucid.

I have never been able to resize partitions on a device that's in use,
so this is certainly not exclusive to Lucid?

Hm, after re-reading, I see this is probably not really from the live-
CD.  For installed systems, I think what swap partitions are used
depends on what is configured on install, and that depends on what's
available on install.   Or what's added by the admin afterwards of
course.

Anyway, unmounting the swap partition (from inside GParted or otherwise)
should solve your problem.  The fact that you can't change the partition
table on a device that has one or more partitions in use is by design.

This is lucid beta 1 on an installed ext4 partition.

Re: [Bug 544520] Re: Cannot resize partition on drive where swap partition resides

2010-03-26 Thread Matthew Gardiner
Ben - The issue is only in Lucid. I have Karmic and Intrepid on other
partitions (as well as Puppy in 3 incarnations), and any of those Linux
OSes except Intrepid (which is installed on that partition) have the
ability to resize the partition. Lucid is on another partition
alltogether, and SDB is NOT mounted. A live CD can resize the partition
as well. I think it has something to do with the swap partition being on
that physical drive.

I will try swapoff from the terminal, then run gparted to see if that
works.

Thank you for your bug report. I am guessing that the different is that
sdb is mounted. Try booting from a live disk and then running gparted to
confirm.

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: nautilus

Nautilus cannot access or takes a very long time (over a minute) to
access certain folders. Namely, the users folders on both Ubuntu and
Windows. This happens even when browsing folders as root, or in failsafe
mode (Gnome). If it does access a user folder, further browsing of that
folder into sub-folders causes a freeze.

This is a recent issue, as it did not happen upon initial upgrade.
