Re: [Bug 885989] Re: white screen on second monitor when using two xsessions
I can reproduce this when using dual monitors and the AMD catalyst (fglrx) drivers on my ATI Radeon HD 4770 card as well on my ATI Radeon HD 7550 card. In Catalyst Control Center, instead of enabling "Multi display desktop with 2 displays," set it to "Single iDisplay Desktop (Multi-Desktop)" and enable Xinerama. Then the white screen will appear on the second monitor. [Bug 754508] Re: Modal dialogs don't appear on the same workspace/monitor as their parent window
Changing the monitor positions in Ubuntu -- putting a left-monitor on the right side instead of on the left -- also seems to provide a "workaround" for this problem. Very annoying how this is not getting fixed... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/754508 Title: Modal dialogs don't appear on the same workspace/monitor as their parent window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/754508/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 754508] Re: Modal dialogs don't appear on the same workspace/monitor as their parent window
Strangely enough, when I am using my secondary monitor, all of its windows open up on the primary one. No matter which one I use, the windows will open on the opposite monitor!
This happens to me in just about every app. Gimp & chrome's save dialogues and so on... The panel's "Edit Connections" menu in the network area... It's incredibly frustrating as I don't use my secondary monitor 100% of the time, and this bug forces me to disable it manually when it's off. I'm sure this problem is related to the "Place Windows" plugin in Compiz. If I disable Place windows, then the windows all open on the proper monitor. However, they open up *under* the Unity panel, which is also annoying and not a decent fix.
[Bug 885989] Re: white screen on second monitor when using two xsessions
This still hasn't been fixed? Hmm... I have the same issue using an ATI card and flgrx as opposed to nvidia. I'm not used to patching things so I am wary of trying that and risking ruining something. [Bug 510059] Re: Gvfs keeps asking for password when trying to mount Samba share
Same problem here... good grief how long has this been going on with no solution? I tried each of the fixes listed above, but none of them worked for me. I have to agree with the above sentiments that this is exactly the type of thing that causes people to give up on Ubuntu and stick with Windows permanently. [Bug 863154] Re: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions
I've noticed another bit of strange behavior. While the bug always seems to be occuring in GIMP, it doesn't appear on the desktop until run xsetwacom to set the range of my stylus for my left monitor (I have a 2-monitor setup). When I first log in, the stylus covers both screens in absolute mode, and dragging windows creates no strange problems. After I run xsetwacom to set the range, moving windows causes them to jump off the screen after I lift the stylus from the tablet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/863154 Title: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/863154/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
