[Bug 269225] Re: Mysterious "internal options"

2008-09-19 Thread Matthew Momjian
Synaptic is a pretty advanced program anyway; I think the title
"advanced users only" is enough; why would we require a command line
option to enable it closing.

I know that this has been reported, but I have new information at the
table that I think warrants a new bug.

I was running 8.10a5x64, with kernel-2.6.27-2. Everything was working
fine. When I got an update to kernel-2.6.27-3, in a5, I updated, then
rebooted to use the new kernel. When the system came back up, compiz
was gone and glxinfo gave the same error as reported below. I moved
back to using kernel-2, and everything was fine.

When 8.10a6x86 came out, I did a fresh install, and therefore my only
kernel was -3. When I booted this, I got the exact same glx error that
I did in kernel-3 in a5. I think this is suffecient evidence to finger
linux-image-2.6.27-3 as the culprit for this error.

[Bug 268492] Re: Automatically downloading updated packages should not block package managers

2008-09-19 Thread Matthew Momjian
Thank you for reporting this bug. However, this seems to be a
fundamental issue with the way package managers handle the database any
time they are running, which includes downloading files. I don't think
this is a major enough issue to warrant a rewrite of a large portion of
the update managers, therefore i am closing it.

[Bug 272150] Re: Don't run bluetooth applet when no bluetooth hardware is present

2008-09-19 Thread Matthew Momjian
I think you can remove it from Preferences > Sessions. You suggest that
ubuntu "should easily be able to detect if bluetooth hardware is
present", but that IS the function of what you are reporting. The
computer can't tell if bluetooth hardware is present unless it's running
a small daemon; 1.6MB is really not that much. If you want no automatic
bluetooth support, you can disable it.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libqt4-dbus

I am using Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10a5 x64 Desktop edition. Skype (latest
Medibuntu version) stopped working today; it was working fine yesterday,
and I think i downloaded an update that borked it out. Here's the error

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/$ skype
skype: error while loading shared libraries: libQtDBus.so.4: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/$

I used getlibs;

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/$ getlibs /usr/bin/skype
libQtDBus.so.4: libqt4-core
libQtGui.so.4: libqt4-gui
libQtNetwork.so.4: libqt4-core
libQtCore.so.4: libqt4-core
The following i386 packages will be installed:
libqt4-core
libqt4-gui

And still get the error:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/$ skype
skype: error while loading shared libraries: libQtDBus.so.4: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/$
