[Bug 955451] Re: Default Maas name is Www-data's Maas

2012-03-20 Thread Matthew Revell
In our design call with Mark on Feb 16th, Mark requested that the
default MAAS name be blank and so would show up simply as "MAAS".

In #cloud-dev we discussed this bug report and Francis asked for my
input. I agreed that $hostname MAAS would make a good default in order
to distinguish one MAAS from other MAASes on a network. Mark commented
that it was a nice idea but I don't have the log to paste here. (I'll
dig it out for a subsequent comment.)

Once MAAS can detect and work with other MAASes on the same network, we
could revert to having a blank MAAS name where we've detected just one
MAAS.

[Bug 955451] Re: Default Maas name is Www-data's Maas

2012-03-15 Thread Matthew Revell
I think $hostname MAAS will work best as the default will be
distinguished from any other MAASes on the network.

[Bug 235976] [NEW] Interface gets stuck in "play" mode even when stopped

2008-05-30 Thread Matthew Revell
Public bug reported:

Often, after having stopped Audacity from playing some audio, the
interface gets stuck in play mode.

This means that the stop button remains highlighted and that it's
impossible to do just about anything, such as edited audio, saving and
so on. The following message appears in a dialogue:

"You can also do this when playing and recording are stopped. [Pausing
is not sufficient.]"

Using the zoom tool is the only way I've found, so far, to break out of
this.

[Bug 208206] Re: White noise glitches during playback

2008-03-28 Thread Matthew Revell
Having tried this with a few more tracks, it appears the glitches far
more frequently than I stated above and actually occur in time with
cymbals or snares in the music.

Tried the same tracks in Rhythmbox again and the distortion isn't
happening there.

[Bug 208206] [NEW] White noise glitches during playback

2008-03-28 Thread Matthew Revell
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: exaile

This morning I upgraded to the Hardy beta. Since then, I've noticed
frequent (roughly every fifteen to twenty seconds) burst of white noise
during playback in Exaile.

The files I'm playing are mp3 format.

I've tried playing the same files in Rhythmbox and haven't noticed any
white noise. Similarly, this did not happen when using Exaile under
Gutsy.

[Bug 193973] [NEW] Empty tool tip

2008-03-07 Thread Matthew Revell
Public bug reported:

When I use Firefox, all tooltips are blank and I see a small empty text
box with shadow below the mouse pointer.

Strangely, I often get this empty tooltip even where a populated tooltip
wouldn't appear normally. For example, resting the mouse pointer on the
background of this bug reporting page results in the empty tooltip
displaying.

I can't think what I've done that's out of the ordinary. I'm running
Gutsy but this has been happening since Feisty at least.

Extensions I have are:

 * Google toolbar
 * Better Gmail
 * It's all text
 * Firebug
 * ColorZilla (not that it works)
 * FasterFox
 * MeasureIt
 * ubunfox
 * Web developer
 * AdBlock Plus
 * del.icio.us

I'm going to disable the add-ons and see if that fixes it.

[Bug 77774] Text cursor appears in wrong place(s)

2007-01-03 Thread Matthew Revell
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nv

Ubuntu version: 6.10 (Edgy)
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 6200 (ASUS)

Problem: It's often impossible to know where the text cursor is because
multiple copies appear on the screen. Particularly when moving the
cursor through text, it seems to leave copies of itself in its wake.

When the cursor stops, it cannot be seen or there are so many cursors
that it's hard to see which is the real one.
