[Bug 584529] Re: Thunderbird complains there is no connection on resume from suspend, when there is a connection

To correct myself, it's not really solved, but the annoying popup
message is gone. The message now (sometimes) appears through the desktop
notification system in the top right corner.

[Bug 575186] Re: X locks up on Thinkpad X201 i5 Laptop

2010-07-18 Thread Matthias G.
After around 6 weeks I got a freeze again.

My machine is running on a custom Ubuntu-2.6.32.11 kernel (patched for
the x201 internal GSM modem). I know that it's not an official one, but
pherhaps the following information can help anyway.

The "visual effects" have been disabled all the time. For the first 3
weeks I've been using no external display. For the second 3 weeks I've
been using an external 19 inch display configured to be on the LEFT side
of my notebook screen. 4 days ago I switched back to my main external
display, which has 24 inches an it's configured to be on the RIGHT side
of my notebook screen. Today I got that X lock again. Music is still
playing in the background and I can move the mouse pointer, but that's
it.

[Bug 488891] Re: logging in after suspend sometimes hangs

2010-06-21 Thread Matthias G.
I can confirm this issue in Lucid. I got this "checking-lock" several
times and if I remember correctly, for me it actually happened only
after a suspend (closing the lid).

It's possible to switch to the console and kill gnome-screensaver-
dialog. Afterwards, a login with the login-dialog works without
problems.

[Bug 356152] Re: update-manager doesn't show updates, even after 1 week

2010-06-20 Thread Matthias G.
I'm also confused because of the update-notifier's behavior. I changed
the regular_auto_launch_interval to 0 (comment #53) and will see if it
changes the behavior to what I would expect by default. But at least
this option should be part of the GUI and not hidden somewhere in the
gconf-editor.

[Bug 569543] Re: Could not identify preference: username Could not identify preference: session_key failure yet authed for services

2010-06-03 Thread Matthias G.
I use version 2.30.0.1-0ubuntu3 of gwibber and I had the same problem as
discribed by Niko in comment #36. After I removed gwibber on my facebook
account I could authorize it with gwibber and the buttons appeared.

I also fully agree with Niko's assumption in comment #37!

So the bug is not yet completely fixed with the released version. Do we
have to change the bug's status to make it clear? Or is it a new bug,
since the bug description doesn't point to the new problem "Add button
doesn't appear even though I get an authorized message"?

[Bug 535509] Re: apt-get always crash with Segmentation fault (core dumped)

2010-06-03 Thread Matthias G.
I guess most people will get this error using tmpfs in /etc/fstab
because they use a SSD in their system. So a quick fix is to simply add
a line for /var/log/apt as well - as proposed in
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EeePC/Using#Reducing%20Drive%20Writes

tmpfs /var/logtmpfsdefaults 00
tmpfs /var/log/apttmpfsdefaults 00

But anyway, the segmentation fault should be fixed.

[Bug 588254] Re: "Install missing language support packages" fails with "Fix broken packages first"

2010-06-01 Thread Matthias G.
When I try to install all the suggested packages via apt-get I can see
which one prevents the install process in gnome-language-selector.

In my case it's enigmail-locale-de:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  enigmail-locale-de: Depends: enigmail (< 2:0.96) but 2:1.0.1-0ubuntu1 is to
be installed
E: Broken packages

So the bug is not really caused by the language-selector, but perhaps it
could show a bit more information in case it fails.

[Bug 587512] [NEW] First imap connection after a new established network connection fails with "Failed to connect to server"

2010-05-30 Thread Matthias G.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

The dialog "Failed to connect to server xy" appears although there is a
working network connection.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Close Thunderbird
2. Disconnect your network connection (in my case it is wireless)
3. Open Thunderbird
4. Expected dialogs "Failed to connect to server xy" - since there is no
network connection.
5. Click all the dialogs away with ok.
6. Connect your network.
7. Open your favorite website in e.g. Firefox - just to make sure the network
connection works.
8. Click "Get Mail" in Thunderbird.
9. UNEXPECTED dialog "Failed to connect to server xy" appears!
10. Click it away.
11. Clicking "Get Mail" again now just works fine.

All the accounts are configured with IMAP via SSL. Gmail and other
providers.

[Bug 535509] Re: apt-get always crash with Segmentation fault (core dumped)

2010-05-30 Thread Matthias G.
To clear my above post a bit, I'm not sure if it really happens while
"checking" the file, it might rather be when apt tries to add the
installed packages to the history file.

The package version is: 0.7.25.3ubuntu9

@Lekensteyn
Yes, I think so. Especially in /var/log. At least an error message should be
shown, but a segmentation fault is definetly not a good behavior ;)
