I'm also getting the same problem. I'm installing on an Acer Aspire One netbook. I'm using the ubuntu-10.10-netbook-i386.iso (works fine, burned to disc and installed on another computer). I'm installing it via USB flash drive, I tried using both Universal-USB-Installer and UNetbootin to prepare the USB drive. I also used more than one USB flash drive to test.
