2007-08-06 Thread Mertiki
Here's my complete dmesg after a reboot. Network still not works, it is
BEFORE the /etc/init.d/networking restart

** Description changed:

I'm running gutsy will all updates

- When configuring a WPA or WPA2 network with a static IP address,
- everything works great until the system is rebooted. After a reboot, I
- have to type sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart to get back the network

[Bug 53387] Re: Boot order problem

2007-08-06 Thread Mertiki
I have this problem too, still not resolved.

I'm on Gutsy with all updates, using WPA through the network-manager
with a static IP. I have no error message in dmesg about WPA but the
network isn't active at reboot, I have to do a /etc/init.d/networking
restart to make it works.

My /etc/network/interfaces look like this :

auto eth3
iface eth3 inet static
address 192.168.1.100
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
wpa-psk ac22b218cf97263ef58887a86f9e32605bd638017a9c4dacd8d80e8f6bd07696
wpa-driver wext
wpa-key-mgmt WPA-PSK
wpa-proto WPA
wpa-ssid strangebanality

When doing a /etc/init.d/networking restart, I get this in dmesg but
nothing more :

[ 231.332000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth3: link is not ready
[ 231.392000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth3: link becomes ready
[ 232.48] ieee80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'TKIP'

Is it really a boot order problem?

[Bug 130571] Corrupted data when copying photos from a Secure Digital media card on a laptop

2007-08-05 Thread Mertiki
Public bug reported:

This bug happens each time I try to copy photos from my camera when I
use the built-in Secure Digital (SD) Media Card reader of my dell
laptop. It is detected has : R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host in Linux.

When copying photos from the Fat16 SD media card, there could be 3
photos on 200 that are corrupted. I tested to copy the photos from
Microsoft Windows to see if it was a hardware problem and concluded that
my SD media card reader was OK because this problem doesn't happen in
Windows, only in Linux Ubuntu.

When using the diff command to compare photos that has been extracted in
Windows and the one that have been extracted on Linux, diff only detect
a file difference for the files that are corrupted in Linux.

[Bug 60544] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working in new user session

2007-08-03 Thread Mertiki
I also have this bug on two laptops. I made a copy of my Xorg.0.log
BEFORE switching user and AFTER coming back to the initial user session.

I compared the two files with diff and I attached that file to this
message so you can see what exactly happens in Xorg between the moment
you switch user and the moment you come back to the initial user
session. There's a presence of very suspicious lines :

Synaptics DeviceOff called
Synaptics DeviceOn called

These lines appears EXACTLY at the moment that a switch to another user
and at the moment I switch back to the initial user. However, the mouse
doesn't work anywere else than the first user session, not even in the
welcome screen or other user session.

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2007-08-03 Thread Mertiki
I think that Microsoft and Linux Ubuntu aren't on the same egal ground
to this point.

Microsoft Windows will NEVER give the choice to a user to dual boot with
another system but Ubuntu will.. but we shouldn't expect Ubuntu to be
completely flawless when working with closed technologies that they
didn't invented ( like FAT32 or NTFS ), it's already a miracle that
Linux can work with NTFS partitions, I think that this should be always
improved but we can't expect it to work without risks, even in Microsoft
installer anyway. And the RAID drivers you got for Windows, does the
producer of your RAID makes drivers for Linux?? I have doubts.

I agree with you to say that Linux Ubuntu should be more all working in
few easy automatics steps and I think that it already beat Microsoft on
some point with installation because Linux detect everything and make
all works when drivers exists. The bitter point is that Ubuntu have
access to a restricted driver list, this would be a very important point
to be improved! I don't personnaly know about RAID 0 so maybe that
Ubuntu have to make some works on this. And I TOTALLY agree that there
should be a REALLY more easy way to manage dual boot in Linux, editing
/boot/grub/menu.lst isn't pretty user friendly.

But I don't think that you can install Microsoft Windows without loosing
all your data, except with another partition which will not be erased,
but that's all the same for Windows or Linux.

[Bug 125340] Re: Synaptics doesn't work with multiple users in Xorg.

2007-08-02 Thread Mertiki
No, the synaptic touchpad is the only problem. you can have two USB
mouses and switch user session without loosing control of your mouses.
But you can't switch user session with a synaptic touchpad because it
will stop working until you get back to the user session you were in.

You can look at the description of the bug and test it on a laptop, I
assure you that you will see the problem with a synaptic touchpad.

the cat commands didn't works saying that the file
~/proc_bus_input_devices_zxz doesn't exist, so I replaced the command
for :

cat /proc/bus/input/devices | tee ~/proc_bus_input_devices_zxz

Hope that this will be OK..

diff didn't found any difference between ~/proc_bus_input_devices_zxz
and ~/proc_bus_input_devices_tmp

But just look at the Xorg.0.log_diff-ns, there's two suspicious lines
which I think that explain the problem :

Synaptics DeviceOff called
Synaptics DeviceOn called

These two lines should not be here, they show clearly that the Synaptics
were turned Off just after the user switching, and turned On just after
I came back to the zxz user session.

I just noticed that the mouse doesn't even work on the welcome screen
after I change the session from the first user zxz to another user. the

[Bug 57875] Re: Azureus hangs or crashes showing splash screen at start

2007-08-01 Thread Mertiki
Why don't update azureus to 2.5.0.4 in Gutsy? azureus 2.5.0.4 is the
latest version which is very stable and also works great with Ubuntu
Gutsy.

From now on, replacing the /usr/share/java/Azureus2.jar

with the jar file that can be downloaded here :

http://easynews.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/azureus/Azureus2.5.0.4.jar

fix the problem.

[Bug 125340] Re: Synaptics doesn't work with multiple users in Xorg.

2007-08-01 Thread Mertiki
Changing the Title and Bug Description because multiple mouses isn't the
source of the problem. The problem is the way Xorg manage synaptic.

** Summary changed:

- Multiple mouses don't work with multiple users
+ Synaptics doesn't work with multiple users in Xorg.

** Description changed:

This bug has been tested on two different laptop.

- The first one was a 5 years old IBM laptop on Feisty with two built-in mouses.
- The second was a Dell inspiron 9300 laptop on Gutsy with one built-in mouse
and a USB wireless mouse.
+ The first one was a 5 years old IBM laptop on Feisty with one synaptic
touchpad and one built-in mouse.
+ The second was a Dell inspiron 9300 laptop on Gutsy with one synaptic
touchpad and a USB wireless mouse.

- When accessing the Desktop of an other user through Change User , one
- mouse will completely stop working.
+ When accessing the Desktop of an other user through Change User ,
+ touchpad will completely stop working.

Steps to reproduce the bugs are :

- 1. Have two mouses.
+ 1. Have two mouses, one of these is a touchpad.
  2. Open a session
  3. Click the change user button to open another session without closing the
actual session.
- 4. Open another session

- Eh voila, one of the two mouse isn't working anymore. If you go back to
- the first user Desktop, the second mouse will suddenly works again. It's
- pretty bad on a laptop with two built-in mouses because the most used
- mouse always stop to work.
+ The synaptic touchpad isn't working anymore. You doesn't have to open
+ another session but you can if you want, but the synaptic touchpad will
+ NEVER works until you get back to the initial session where synaptic is
+ already used. It's pretty bad on a laptop with two built-in mouses
+ because the most used mouse always stop to work.

- Is it possible that Xorg or another component just handle one mouse for
- ALL users? The other mouse could belong to the user itself and can't be
- used by another user as long as the session of that user isn't closed?
- It sounds like that.
+ The Xorg logs shows Synaptics DeviceOff called when I change user
+ session and Synaptics DeviceOn called when I get back to the initial
+ user session ( the only way to get the synaptic to work again ).

[Bug 115283] Re: random system freeze when desktop-effects activated

2007-08-01 Thread Mertiki
I also made a backtrace for X and Compiz by reproducing the bug with GDB
attached to the X process and Compiz process from another computer
through ssh.

I made a complete backtrace for X and Compiz and a strace for Compiz.
Unfortunately, the X strace was about 147 Mb and still not finished
while X wasn't crashed yet, so I don't have a valuable X strace.

I think that we can change the status to Confirmed has there's already 3
person having exactly the same problems. And I think that this bug is
critical and should be taken seriously has I can randomly hard crash a
computer and block access to virtual consoles.

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2007-07-26 Thread Mertiki
I think that the Microsoft majority market share is a bug because we
don't expect Linux or Microsoft either to be THE OS. The minority of
Linux Ubuntu would be a better name for that bug.

Of course, the initial goal of Linux isn't to replace Windows and I
don't think that Linux Ubuntu try to aim that goal, Linux Ubuntu just
aim to expand itself and be a good OS for everyone, for the developper,
professionnal and for the home user! Why not? Linux is a very great OS
that could be interesting for a lot of people needs.

And Linux Ubuntu don't aim to force user to use it Like Tama00 said,
Linux isn't a company and don't make any profit, but it doesn't mean
that Linux Ubuntu don't aim to have a bigger affluence, because it's a
great project that aim to win popularity, like Firefox! Because Linux
Ubuntu goal is to have more satisfied users, it will evolve it that way.
This is not forcing people to use Ubuntu but inviting people and being
more adapted to their needs, and invite them to give participation in
the evolution of that OS.

That's a great goal! This gives more value and visibility to the Linux
kernel which can be more popular, not for money purposes but just
because a project that don't touch anybody doesn't have the same value
than a project that have a lot of testers, users and a big amount of
people around it. A project like this, it's gold.

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2007-07-19 Thread Mertiki
Tony Ruottu said : Ubuntu is not fragmented in that
way. I see no reason why you should expect Ubuntu to be compatible with
some other operating system, say Fedora.

Yeah I think that Ubuntu made a big step into gathering people and
functionnalities were Debian had already made big works. Here I don't
want to critic the huge variety or the way Open Source software are
created because that's very great. I speak about accessibility and
simplicity. To the end user, everything is a question of simplicity. The
question was about the major place of Microsoft in the world of the OS,
I think that if Ubuntu can gather all the treasures of the OpenSource
world in a easy to use way, it would lead to a serious popularity. Most
of people already use Ubuntu because it's all automatic, easy to use and
with serious extension possibilities.

Tony Ruotty said : They are. See http://freedesktop.org/

Yeah I knew that, I was talking more about a fusion between KDE or Gnome
but It's maybe pure dream, I don't know the technical details beside all
these projects. I just meant that working in team makes the projects
stronger. I don't approve the hegemonic Microsoft position and the all-
in-one-unique-solution and I certainly don't expect the OpenSource
world to follow that, but I think that the talents of the OpenSource
teams that all work on their side could lead to powerful results if
there was less division. There's some projects that are separated
because they do very different work, but I think that there's a lot of
projects that try to aim the same target. Why these projects should be
separated? Wouldn't they be better and stronger if they work together?
Wouldn't that be easier for people that will search for a music program?
This could lead to the creation of more complete programs.

Tony Ruotty said : I don't think people are usually that interested in
security. At least
not as long as lack of it doesn't disturb their daily activities.

Yeah you're right. But the point is that 80% of PCs are infected.
Finally, people care about security because they almost all experience
problems about it.

Tony Ruotty said : They are not?

I've seen serious complete information website about Ubuntu. ex :
ubuntu-fr.org . But like I said earlier, I think that all this massive
information could be more and more accurate, detailled, classified,
translated to make more complete information sources. Not just blogs
here and here but very complete information sources. People need to find
comprehensive solutions!

[Bug 124377] Re: [gutsy] Trouble with package dependency (libcurl4-gnutls)

So that's confirmed, there's a post-installation script problem with the
openoffice.org-common package.

The postinst file in the new package has been modified. The dh_icon
cache section has been changed from :

touch -m /usr/share/icons/hicolor
if [ $1 = configure ] \
   [ -x `which gtk-update-icon-cache 2/dev/null` ] \

   [ `find /usr/share/icons/hicolor -mindepth 1 -maxdepth 1 -type f -name
index.theme | wc -l` -eq 1 ]; then
gtk-update-icon-cache -q /usr/share/icons/hicolor
fi
# End automatically added section
# Automatically added by dh_iconcache
touch -m /usr/share/icons/locolor
if [ $1 = configure ] \
   [ -x `which gtk-update-icon-cache 2/dev/null` ] \
   [ -f /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders ] \
   [ `find /usr/share/icons/locolor -mindepth 1 -maxdepth 1 -type d | wc -l`
-gt 0 ] \
   [ `find /usr/share/icons/locolor -mindepth 1 -maxdepth 1 -type f -name
index.theme | wc -l` -eq 1 ]; then
gtk-update-icon-cache -q /usr/share/icons/locolor
fi
# End automatically added section
# Automatically added by dh_iconcache
touch -m /usr/share/icons/gnome
if [ $1 = configure ] \
   [ -x `which gtk-update-icon-cache 2/dev/null` ] \
   [ -f /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders ] \
   [ `find /usr/share/icons/gnome -mindepth 1 -maxdepth 1 -type d | wc -l`
-gt 0 ] \
   [ `find /usr/share/icons/gnome -mindepth 1 -maxdepth 1 -type f -name
index.theme | wc -l` -eq 1 ]; then
gtk-update-icon-cache -q /usr/share/icons/gnome
fi
# End automatically added section

To :

# Automatically added by dh_icons
if which gtk-update-icon-cache /dev/null 21; then
for dir in /usr/share/icons/hicolor /usr/share/icons/locolor
/usr/share/icons/gnome; do
gtk-update-icon-cache --force --quiet $dir
done
fi
# End automatically added section

I'm pretty sure that the error is hidden behind these code lines! The new
script doesn't touch the icons folders, this could maybe be the problem.

I got it to work back again by making a little modification in the

I don't know if that modification is suitable for official packaging but
I gives the information :

I added the option --ignore-theme-index in that part of postinst :

for dir in /usr/share/icons/hicolor /usr/share/icons/locolor
/usr/share/icons/gnome; do

$dir
done
fi

I attached the result package which has all dependencies removed (
otherwise it would not works outside of the official repositories ).
This package is for testing purposes, or for urgency works =)

because the dependencies are removed in that test package, you should
also install theses packages + language support :

[Bug 125340] Multiple mouses don't work with multiple users

2007-07-11 Thread Mertiki
Public bug reported:

This bug has been tested on two different laptop.

The first one was a 5 years old IBM laptop on Feisty with two built-in mouses.
The second was a Dell inspiron 9300 laptop on Gutsy with one built-in mouse and
a USB wireless mouse.

When accessing the Desktop of an other user through Change User , one
mouse will completely stop working.

Steps to reproduce the bugs are :

1. Have two mouses.
2. Open a session
3. Click the change user button to open another session without closing the
actual session.
4. Open another session

Eh voila, one of the two mouse isn't working anymore. If you go back to
the first user Desktop, the second mouse will suddenly works again. It's
pretty bad on a laptop with two built-in mouses because the most used
mouse always stop to work.

Is it possible that Xorg or another component just handle one mouse for
ALL users? The other mouse could belong to the user itself and can't be
used by another user as long as the session of that user isn't closed?
It sounds like that.

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2007-07-10 Thread Mertiki
This bug is really critical in Canada too.

Here's my opinion about major problems that causes this bug to exist (
this is a bit long ).

There's 2 aspects to fix around this bug

1. The technical aspects ( making Ubuntu a better system which will be far more
than just usable)
2. The people aspects ( or how to bring Ubuntu to the public, a very hard
step )

Technical aspects have a very great evolution. But it isn't flawless :

1. Linux is fragmented. On a side, we have a hegemonic Microsoft which
is all-in-one and the only one, in the other side we have Linux,
fragmented over thousands of distributions. I think that Ubuntu should
invite the OpenSource world to work in team and not in all separate
projects, each point of view is good, we just need to find a way to
fusion all ideas. This could lead to a thunder-evolution of Linux and
avoid tons of wasted work. For an exemple, KDE and Gnome have too great
way to abord the Desktop environment, why these teams don't work
together to give to user more choice in a all-in-one Desktop solution.
It would be pretty much better than take one ot take the other.
Combine the qualities! It's the same idea for some functionnalities that
are missing in Linux Ubuntu ( example : Fax functionnalities ).

2. Compatibility. Linux Ubuntu is a great step to a Linux which is
compatible with a lot of hardware, but it's still not sufficient for
some configuration. We need to ask brands like Brother, AMD, nvidia to
cooperate and show them that Linux isn't a rare system, it's the future
and the future is there! We should not have any doubts on the power of
OpenSource software, we know that it can lead computer to another level!

People aspects is a step which have a big work to do on it :

1. What is Linux? Majority of people will don't even know that Microsoft
is a software and that something else exist. Linux is not know or is
just a complicate OS for people. This aspect can be fixed in too
ways. We should take the time to speak and show Linux to people. This
will have a long time impact if people like it and keeps showing Linux
to their friends, family. Big Linux advantages ( like security and
absence of viruses ) can be very interesting for people once they know
it! Another important point is to make Linux Ubuntu informations
webpages, online groups, etc. very available over Internet. It should be
very easy to undersand in two click What is Linux Ubuntu ! ubuntu-fr.org
is a good example of user-friendly webpage which gives a lot of
information to the final user! It should be pretty much easier to
understand that Linux can be a Microsoft Windows alternative with a lot
of advantages. Easy to use and understand ressources should be available
on Internet to help people with what they want to do.

I give technical support to people at home. When I see a situation where
Linux Ubuntu could be interesting for my customers, I take the time to
show them the OS, give them informations and documentations as they can
make very clear choices about their computers and know what they do.
This makes people very happy to have Linux Ubuntu when they take this
decision and they generally don't want to use Microsoft anymore.

2. Publicity. People will be curious around Linux if they see it! If
people don't see Ubuntu on stores, publicities, etc. They will be more
closed about it. For an example, if Dell would show more widely Dell
with Linux Ubuntu systems, this would make an incredible publicity.
What? This is not Microsoft XP or Mac OS? So what is this? Is that a new
powerful invention? People will become curious about Linux Ubuntu.
More Linux Ubuntu will be shown, more people will want it and more
companies will offer it! The popularity of Linux Ubuntu will depends of
the quality of the user interface ( attractive, powerful, easy to use
), the functionnalities and the stability.

I will continue to show Linux Ubuntu to my customers and give support
and documentation for them

This bug happens with my CUPS HP Photosmart, which had no problem printing me
reports on feisty before.

[Bug 124526] [ GUTSY ] Splash screen don't disappear with Compiz / ATI

2007-07-06 Thread Mertiki
Public bug reported:

In Gutsy, with a ATI mobility radeon X300 :

When Ubuntu opens, the splash screen appear, then disappear, then appear
again and doesn't disappear at all. It stays on the middle of the
Desktop.

This only happen when using compiz desktop effects with the Open Drivers

[Bug 123874] Gnome Buttons doesn't support more than one click

2007-07-03 Thread Mertiki
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I use Ubuntu Feisty Fawn.

It's not the first time that I see that problem, it probably appears on
every windows under Gnome.

When clicking on a button, it's impossible to click another time to that
button except if the mouse quit the button and go back to it. For an
exemple : If i click three time on the same button, Gnome will consider
that I just clicked on time, but if I click three times and move my
mouse between each click, Gnome will consider that I clicked 3 times.

It's pretty bad when you try to change the position of a icon in your
Application menu, and the only way to do this is to click a hundred
times to move a item.

[Bug 121943] Gparted freezes with external USB HD

2007-06-23 Thread Mertiki
Public bug reported:

unmounted. It keeps scanning HD for hours and Dosfsck uses 100% of the
CPU, even when Gparted is closed.

the USB HD contain 2 unmounted partitions, the first is Fat32 and the
other is ext2. They were automounted and unmounted just before starter
Gparted.

The steps to reproduce this are :

1. Connect a external HD with two partitions, 1 Fat32 and 1 ext2
2. Umount the partitions with sudo umount /dev/sdb1 and /dev/sdb2
3. Start Gparted

Gparted is now looking for HD for hours and the CPU keeps at 100% even
when Gparted is closed.

[Bug 121051] virtual desktops freeze on shutdown

2007-06-18 Thread Mertiki
Public bug reported:

the virtual desktops become frozen and it's impossible to pick one of
them when the Linux Ubuntu system is shutting down.

Ok it seems normal, but if you have a text file in the virtual desktop
#3 that suspend the Shutdown of Linux Ubuntu, you cannot get to that
virtual desktop and answer the text editor to save the file before
Ubuntu Shutdown the system. So your system is just.. freeze.

Steps to reproduce this are :

1. Have 3 virtual desktops
2. Open Gedit on the desktop #3 and type some text without saving
3. Go to the desktop #1
4. Shutdown Ubuntu

That's it, your system is waiting for an answer, but you don't see it
and can't answer it.

Trick : It's still possible to go to the Desktop #3 with the keyboard,
but not with the mouse.

[Bug 44374] Re: multisync can't connect to evolution

2007-05-23 Thread Mertiki
A good trick to bypass this bug is to :

1 : Create a empty Calendar
2 : Create a synchronisation profile in Multisync that will include that
Calendar in first plugin
3 : DON'T SYNC, use Resync, which can be found in the option menu of multisync

You can now sync without any problem, just because the first sync was
made with the resync option.

This is a clue, apparently that the natural first sync of multisync
isn't really complete. By using resync, multisync really do a correct
first sync and so further syncing all works.

[Bug 87794] Re: No syncml for multisync in feisty

2007-05-10 Thread Mertiki
Multisync is officialy going to work directly with opensync. the latest
version ( 0.91) won't work with the plugins that we used to use.
Multisync will now become a GUI for the opensync framework. I believe
that the integration of the new multisync will depend on the global
stabilities of the program. It's still in earlier developement but
pretty near to works great.

It promises a lot of great news, for an exemple :

IRMC, Bluetooth, Syncml, Evolution, Sunbird, Google calendar.

[Bug 113862] Volume and quality problems with ICH6 audio cards

2007-05-10 Thread Mertiki
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

This problem is experienced with this audio card : 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6
Family)
This problem doesn't happen in Linux Ubuntu edgy eft

My computer is a Dell inspiron 9300 laptop with a 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW
(ICH6 Family) audio card and internal speakers, 2 normal speakers in
front of my laptop and a little one under for more bass.

When lowering volume with the general volume bar in gnome-volume-
manager, the volume is lowered for the foreground speakers of my
computer but not for the speaker under the laptop. So the sound isn't
lowered but just distorted.

When using external speakers plugged into the speaker port, the volume
isn't lowering at all with the general volume bar.

The only universal way to mute sound correctly is the PCM bar..

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

On Linux Ubuntu 7.04 BETA 1 on a Dell Inspiron 9300 Laptop with a
sigmatel sound card.

Every sound, like the welcome sound in Ubuntu, are so loud that the
sound quality is completely bad. It is impossible to fix the sound level
with the special multimedia key near of the keyboard or with the regular
volume manager included with gnome. Linux Ubuntu do like if the sound
was properly lowered but it isn't at all.

Same if the gnome sound manager shows the volume at zero, the sound is
still really loud without any quality.

The options to desactivate welcome sound still works, the problem is
about sound management or the sound system of linux ubuntu.

[Bug 96002] Sound System Doesn't work anymore with special keyboard key on Dell Inspiron 9300 Laptop

2007-03-25 Thread Mertiki

Txs a lot.

[Bug 96017] The ATI open drivers can't be restored after uninstalling the restricted drivers

2007-03-25 Thread Mertiki
Public bug reported:

On a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop, ATI mobility radeon X300, Ubuntu 7.04
BETA 1

When installing the Restricted drivers for ATI mobility radeon x300 with
the tool included in linux ubuntu, the computer reboot with the new
driver but can't return on the previous state with the open driver when
the restricted driver is uninstalled through the tool included in linux
ubuntu.

The screen still keep the resolution of the restricted driver after a
reboot and can't use composite options like the restricted driver.

The steps to reproduce the bug is :

Click on System \ Administration \ Restricted Drivers Manager
Install the restricted drivers for the ATI card
Reboot Linux Ubuntu
Click on System \ Administration \ Restricted Drivers Manager
Uninstall the restricted drivers for the ATI card
Reboot Linux Ubuntu

And the restricted driver will still remain the one apparently used by
linux to provide graphical interface, same if the Restricted Drivers
Manager say that it is disabled.
