** Description changed: + This could be part of CVE-2016-3070 + Happened during dd of 40GB LV: $ sudo dd if=/dev/vg0/gentoo of=/dev/vg1/gentoo I also used SIGUSR1 on the dd to monitor it occasionally. There was other activity at the time as well. [Bug 1731566] Re: systemd-udevd delays boot for 4+ minutes when an LVM PV is inside an LV
Re: But the inner PV is only for the guest to use - no? The intent is that the inner PV is only for the guest to use. What has happened for years and years is that unless you mask using /etc/lvm/lvm.conf the host will vgscan the inner PV and vgchange it too. Until 17.10 (possibly 17.04, I skipped that one) this was mostly a cosmetic issue, now it adds four minutes to the boot time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1731566 Title: systemd-udevd delays boot for 4+ minutes when an LVM PV is inside an LV To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1731566/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1728181] Re: systemd-networkd-wait-online waits when devices are unmanaged
I'm not using cloud-init. My network devices are not managed because I disabled NetworkManager.service shortly after installing 17.10 on bare metal Nov 5, 2017 9:44 AM EDT. I think there were too many fires then and I didn't want to try to convince NetworkManager to use a bridge. I just lived with the two minute delay while working on the four minute delay LP 1731566 and the "BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null)" LP 1730374 until work on that last issue lead to the two minute delay clearing up as a side-effect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1728181 Title: systemd-networkd-wait-online waits when devices are unmanaged To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1728181/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1730374] Re: NULL pointer dereference during writeback
I'd love to have time to work on this kernel bug but I have fires all over the place with 17.10. I have a dual-boot setup between 16.04 and 17.10. The 17.10 took over nine minutes to boot originally. After finding out about Debian_bug_867368 I got it to boot in over three minutes. It still gets stuck booting and shutting down in other areas. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1730374 Title: NULL pointer dereference during writeback To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1730374/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1723758] Re: Xorg X11 nouveau video driver for NVIDIA graphics chipsets locks up (hangs)
Xorg crashed after 13 days 20 hours and 28 minutes of running. The root cause is unknown to me; I can only trace it back to gnome-session-binary running out of file descriptors and crashing on a SIGSEGV which cascades until a nouveau driver message about receiving a signal occurs. I don't know if it's relevant or not that I was running for about a day with "gconf2:amd64 3.2.6-3ubuntu6" installed and it required a reboot which I had not yet done. [Bug 1397617] Re: iriverter lacks package dependency libswt-cairo-gtk-3-jni
I was going to write a patch for "HEAD" but then I found out that iriverter doesn't appear ever in Debian and I can't see it in Vivid while doing causal checking. The only use I had is that it quickly and easily got me a working mencoder line like this: mencoder infile.mp4 -o outfile.h300.avi -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=500:max_bframes=0 -oac mp3lame -lameopts mode=0:cbr:br=128 -vf- add filmdint=io=25000:1 -vf-add scale=220:165,expand=220:176 -vf-add harddup -ofps 10.0 -srate 44100 I could use that as a starting point. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1397617 Title: iriverter lacks package dependency libswt-cairo-gtk-3-jni To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/iriverter/+bug/1397617/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1301776] Re: Update manager is really small and not resizeable
Just out of curiosity has anyone tried: sudo apt-get install gnome-packagekit gpk-update-viewer as a work-around? [Bug 1318568] Re: grub upgrade fails with lvm on top of dmraid
@psusi - once you've installed on fake RAID and upgraded successfully a few time, the effort to convert to Linux software RAID is significant. I've side-stepped that for now by rebuilding grub 1.99-21ubuntu3.15 (from 12.04) on Ubuntu 14.04 and putting package holds on the resulting debs. Maybe someday I'll run off lists of installed packages and decide which ones to re-install, figure out what parts of backups need to be restored other than the obvious ones like /home, reinstall from scratch, put all the packages and customizations back and not worry about fake RAID anymore but for now I'll just putter along. This isn't the first time grub2 lost the ability to be installed on fake RAID. On Maverick it was necessary to back-port the grub from Natty to get working grub-on-fake RAID. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1318568 Title: grub upgrade fails with lvm on top of dmraid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1318568/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Jan Henke - the titlebar resize menu item is not grayed out on my 14.04 system. I'm not using Xubuntu. Re comment #6 The reason this titlebar menu resize contraption exists is that it is part of UI accessibility. [Bug 1301776] Re: Update manager is really small and not resizeable
Re comment #6 With a mouse or tracball etc. (not a touchscreen): 1. Right click on the title bar of the window to be resized. 2. A menu will pop up. Choose "resize" from it. 3. The pointer will jump (warp) to the center of the window. 4. Do not click yet. Move the pointer past the edge of the window in the direction you wish to resize (enlarge). 5. Once the desired resize has been achived then click the mouse or tracball etc. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1301776 Title: Update manager is really small and not resizeable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1301776/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
