[Bug 201044] [NEW] Suspend+Hibernate fails on Fujitsu-Seimens Amilo M1405
Public bug reported: Laptop upgraded to Hardy Heron Alpha 5 from Gutsy, Both suspend and hibernate used to work in Gutsy Behaviour is as follows... Press logout button - select Hibernate or Suspend Screen goes black - Looks to reset to blank console with flashing underscore cursor in top left, hard drive lights flickers for approx 5 seconds then goes turns off. Nothing further happens. Pressing Alt-F1 - F6 brings up a text console. Attempting to enter a username into the console results in nothing appearing on screen. Attempting to blindly enter username, enter, password, reset doesn't result in any activity either. Pressing Alt-F8 shows the boot sequence left from previous boot, with Running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local) as last step. Pressing Alt-F7 returns an X like screen, and appears to disable keyboard shortcut sequences. Screen is totally black, with no mouse cursor visible. >From this point no activity is possible at keyboard or screen. Testing by pingning the laptop from my desktop it appears that at the point it looks to drop to console it detaches from the wireless network, preventing SSH access once it's in this state. [Bug 139337] Re: after upgrading from feisty to gutsy, /dev/mapper no longer contains my LVM volume group
Downloaded Gutsy Tribe 5 - Server Edition CD, installed from fresh, adding the LVM drives during hte manual partitioning step. Everything worked fine until I rebooted at end of installation, to be met with the same issue, got dropped into a maintenance shell. I figured this was weird, as I could mount and see the drives during installation, so I had a look to see if there was anything I could do. Sure enough, with a fresh install, the output from LVS shows that the drives are not actually marked as available. running vgchange -a y data brought the drives online, and they promptly appeared in /dev/data and /dev/mapper/ Rebooting after having done that seems to forget, always fails the fsck, and I need to activate the volume group, and then press Ctrl-D to continue booting. -- after upgrading from feisty to gutsy, /dev/mapper no longer contains my LVM volume group https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/139337 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 139337] after upgrading from feisty to gutsy, /dev/mapper no longer contains my LVM volume group
Public bug reported: I used update-manager to update from feisty to gutsy on my server, which has a number of drives mounted on an LVM volume group. Under fiesty these drives appeared in /dev/mapper as /dev/mapper/data/applications which I added to my fstab to automount as /data/applications. After running the full upgrade script and rebooting, the machine failed ot fully start because the /dev/mapper/data directory no longer exists (and /home is stored on there).
