[Bug 552398] [NEW] printer configuration dialog hangs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: system-config-printer When trying to add a new network printer, the dialog freezes after about half a minute of searching. A list of found printers is never displayed. The only way to exit the program is to kill it. The same process on a Ubuntu 9.04 system works just fine, displaying about 10 printers to choose from and with no problem to add one of these and printing a test page. So I think I can rule out a problem with the network. I had been able to successfully configure a printer with an earlier alpha build of Ubuntu 10.04. When I tried to add a second printer this morning a list of printers was displayed but the application crashed when selecting one of them for addition. The bug-report application told me that this could not be reported as my "system-config-printer" wasn't up to date. After upgrading I now have the problem described above, with no printers being displayed and the application hanging. [Bug 456662] Re: Huawei E620 USB modem no longer works in 9.10
After having upgraded to linux-image-2.6.31-15-generic, the USB-stick seems to be recognized as a modem (*and* as a storage device). Now, network manager is offering the mobile broadband Vodafone connection, which I had configured before the upgrade to 9.10. However, I am unable to make the connection work. The network manager presents a password dialog (see attachment), but whatever I fill in (neither password nor pincode defined for this connection will work) I don't get a network connection. ** Attachment added: "vodafone.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/35544930/vodafone.png -- Huawei E620 USB modem no longer works in 9.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/456662 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 456662] [NEW] Huawei E620 USB modem no longer works in 9.10
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager My Huawei E620 (sold by Vodafone in NL) works flawlessly in Ubuntu 9.04, but no longer works in 9.10. The device is apparently no longer recognized and I am no longer given the option by network manager to access internet via a broadband connection. Again, this worked like a charm in Jaunty. $ uname -a Linux aspire 2.6.31-14-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 13 16:47:59 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux All packages updated to Karmic Koala beta release. [Bug 332543] Re: echo test not working
I just did an 'apt-get update && apt-get upgrade' and now ekiga works for me, at least as far as the echo test is concerned. I have pulse-audio configured, in ekiga audio-device setting is all set to 'Default'. This was with a normal headset, I still need to test my USB-headset and then make a proper telephone call. But looking good so far ... -- echo test not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/332543 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 332543] Re: echo test not working
I am using a fresh Jaunty install. I also tried "apt-get --purge remove ekiga" followed by "apt-get install ekiga", but it did not help. I am using a USB headset, too, but it doesn't work, with or without. I have tried to run with and without pulse-audio, as I suspected this to be the problem, but no success. -- echo test not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/332543 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 332543] Re: echo test not working
Testing the echo service with Ekiga 3.2 in Jaunty is not working for me either. (Btw. also skype doesn't work for me in Jaunty). Sound seems to work just fine in other applications, but when trying to phone sip:5...@ekiga.net nothing happens, dead silent. Both my ekiga and diamondcard accounts appear registered. It's a show stopper for me for switching from Ubuntu 8.04 where everything is working fine. Here is the output I get from ekiga with debugging turned on: $ ekiga -d 1 2009/03/31 22:46:24.161 0:00.061 Version 3.2.0 by on Unix Linux (2.6.28-11-generic-i686) with PTLib (v2.6.1) at 2009/3/31 22:46:24.161 2009/03/31 22:46:24.161 0:00.061 Ekiga SVN revision: unknown 2009/03/31 22:46:24.385 0:00.285 HalManager_dbus Populating full interface list failed - Method "getDevices" with signature "" on interface "org.freedesktop.NetworkManager" doesn't exist 2009/03/31 22:46:24.386 0:00.286 Detecting V4L2 devices 2009/03/31 22:46:24.436 0:00.336 OpalMan Registered endpoint with prefix pc 2009/03/31 22:46:24.442 0:00.342 OpalMan Registered endpoint with prefix sip 2009/03/31 22:46:24.443 0:00.343 OpalMan Registered endpoint with prefix sips 2009/03/31 22:46:24.445 0:00.345 OpalMan Registered endpoint with prefix h323 2009/03/31 22:46:24.445 0:00.345 OpalMan Registered endpoint with prefix h323s 2009/03/31 22:46:24.827 0:00.727 Ekiga version 3.2.0 2009/03/31 22:46:24.827 0:00.727 OPAL version 3.6.1 2009/03/31 22:46:24.827 0:00.727 PTLIB version 2.6.1 2009/03/31 22:46:24.827 0:00.727 GNOME support disabled 2009/03/31 22:46:24.827 0:00.727 Accelerated rendering support enabled 2009/03/31 22:46:24.827 0:00.727 DBUS support enabled 2009/03/31 22:46:24.827 0:00.727 GConf support enabled 2009/03/31 22:46:24.827 0:00.727 ESound support disabled 2009/03/31 22:46:25.788 0:01.688 Opal Liste...0xb55cdb90 Listen UDP read error. 2009/03/31 22:46:25.808 0:01.708 PWLib Destroyed thread 0x99864d8 Opal Listener:0xb55cdb90(id = 0) 2009/03/31 22:46:25.809 0:01.709 PWLib Destroyed thread 0x99989d8 Opal Listener:0xb558cb90(id = 0) -- echo test not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/332543 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 280166] [NEW] top -i doesn't show "heavy" jobs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: procps I noticed this problem when opening a pdf document with evince, which put the load on cpu 1 to 100%, as seen from the system load applet. I ran 'top' (from the procps package) on the command line and saw the job there, too, with high cpu usage. However, when toggling 'i' to only show me non-idle tasks, the process was not among the listed ones. This was consistently seen on various attempts, so not depending on time granularity. In non-idle mode I expect to see that process on first place in top's listing. ubuntu 8.04 procps 1:3.2.7-5ubuntu3 kernel 2.6.24-19-generic ** Affects: procps (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- top -i doesn't show "heavy" jobs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/280166 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 223750] Re: Sound very faint in Ubuntu 8l04 Hardy
Hi Brian, Sound worked fine in the end, if I remember correctly I had just overlooked a mixer setting. The bug is closed from my point of view. Unfortunately, I can't provide the info you request. The 8.04 installation was on a "experimental" partition (my main system is still on 7.10) and in the mean time I tried to upgrade hardy to intrepid. I say "tried" because that system is totally broken right now. But that's another story ... cheers, Michael On Fri, 2008-08-08 at 21:42 +, Brian Murray wrote: > Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make > Ubuntu better. [Bug 223750] Re: Sound very faint in Ubuntu 8l04 Hardy
Thanks, I had already played with the master and pcm setting but had overlooked the front control. Seems ok now. I did try to simply restore my old settings from gutsy (its root being mounted on /mnt) via alsactl, but that didn't work: > sudo alsactl -f /mnt/var/lib/alsa/asound.state restore alsactl: set_control:989: warning: name mismatch (Digital Input Source/IEC958 Playback Con Mask) for control #1 alsactl: set_control:991: warning: index mismatch (0/0) for control #1 alsactl: set_control:993: failed to obtain info for control #1 (Operation not permitted) -- Sound very faint in Ubuntu 8l04 Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223750 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I am having the same problem on a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop (running the same kernel) with a $ lspci 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02) $ head -n 5 /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 Codec: Conexant ID 2c06 Address: 0 Vendor Id: 0x14f12c06 Subsystem Id: 0x14f1000f Revision Id: 0x10 Sound works just fine with ubuntu 7.10, so I am glad I did not do an upgrade, yet, but installed 8.04 on an extra partition. -- Sound very faint in Ubuntu 8l04 Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223750 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
