[Bug 496093] Re: [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks
I didn't realize how serious it is. Elton is right. How to update without any possibility to update? Dries, I think there's no space for Ricardo's kernel on the CD. And I don't find this solution "clean". It's a dirty workaround. I suggest Canonical to include some info about this bug in the release notes. Although, I'm not sure whether all users notice and whether it doesn't cause the bad reputation either. Bad, bad situation :/ P.S. I'm not interested personally, just one friend of mine has this eee 901 with daily Lucid. -- [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496093 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 496093] Re: [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks
Ricardo, thanks for your work! Howerver, I see this is a huge problem if it's not included in final Lucid/LTS. (I know it's not your problem though) RT2860 is used in most of the eee netbooks. And most of these will upgrade to Lucid in a few days. I don't think it is a good idea to discourage them :/ It'd be really BAD reputaion which will cause huge activity at Launchpad, ubuntu forums and other web forums... Is there any way how to warn Canonical? [Bug 451401] [NEW] OpenGL regression in compiz and games
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I can't describe the problem properly, but: 1) Check the screenshot of World of Goo - some objects are drawed badly 2) Foobilliard draws just the board, nothing else (funny to play without balls) 3) Frets on fire doesn't draw anything 4) Compiz seems to work, however, after some time, the screen hangs and new objects don't redraw the others. [Bug 450385] [NEW] [Karmic] iwl3945 - can't connect to eduroam
Public bug reported: I've got serious problems with my laptop to connect the university network eduroam. It's really FRUSTRATING to see all the XP, Vista, 7, MacOS X and even some Linux users browsing while I'm filling the password form in network-manager again and again. I don't know how to debug. Can anyone help? What I did: 1) the network-manager eduroam profile was already working in karmic about 14 days ago, then some update came and now it's impossible to connect 2) so today I've been playing a lot with wpa_supplicant (back to roots) with no luck - the configuration is the same as recommended by eduroam.cz official guide What I discovered: 1) that sometimes after the playing with wifi (trying to connect with nm for very long time or playing with wpa_supplicant for some time) "iwlist scan" doesn't work, because "the device is not answering" or what (sorry, I can't remember) ... so rmmod & modprobe of the module works and I can access the iwlist command 2) my friend uses debian with 2.6.30 kernel and some Intel abgn wireless card - his "iwlist scan |grep eduroam" returns only one results while the same command on mine laptop returns 4 APs! Is it possible? Again - it's really frustrating for me as I go to school for a whole day, back to home in the evening & find something on internet and next day again to school to discover it doesn't work. Can anyone give me precise instructions what (and how) to get any debug information so that I can report a high-quality bug and finally CONNECT TO EDUROAM??? I'd be thankful for some prepared script to run which would collect some data and anyone to analyse the data. Thanks! [Bug 370173] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 laptop overheat and shutdown
Now I'm really angry. Yesterday my computer went shutdown because of overheating. I was running some virtual machine and after cooling down and starting it again, it didn't want to start againg, because filesystem in it is corrupted. I've lost many hours of work which can be fortunately done again. I'm wondering why isn't this bug marked CRITICAL yet and why assigned team is Ubuntu Laptop Team. It seems they aren't active there so I suggest to change the team and marking it CRITICAL already! [Bug 370173] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 laptop overheat and shutdown
Somebody stated that my ~50°C in powersave state is normal. It isn't :) I can subjectively feel that is is much more hotter than in Intrepid. I'll do some tests with Interpid or Fedora which I'm going to switch this week. I'll post it here. Michael Brooks thinks that fans aren't working enough. It seems racial, however it is not as obvious because some people also stated that their battery life (I don't mean permanent capacity now) has decreased. And if the fans work more, it decreases it even more. But maybe the heat is decreasing the battery life as well. Regarding the permanent capacity, I had 52 Wh, now I have 42 Wh :( The heat really decreases the permanent (factory) capacity. Michael Brooks: Firstly, there's whole community involved even though it's Jaunty-only problem. Secondly, without Canonical you wouldn't have anything to complain about. However, I suggest to mark it as CRITICAL again. Can anybody do it? I can't. CRITICAL because 1) it damages hardware 2) it disables people to use computer properly (ana and her dv 6000) 3) because it shutdowns the computer without any warning so one's unsaved work can be done again 4) people switch to another distributions (I think about it as well) 5) people switch to another OS (back to trees?) [Bug 345800] [NEW] Jaunty, iwl3945 system hang, HP 6510b radio switch
Public bug reported: Hello, I really suffer from this terrible bug. I've lost pretty much of my unsaved work. To reproduce... I am connected to the eduroam university wireless wpa2 network with my HP 6510b laptop, which has Intel 3945 abg module in it. I have latest Jaunty and use iwl3945 module. After very short time, I am regularly disconnected from the network and I am NOT ABLE to connect until the computer is rebooted. I've invented, that removing and modprobing the iwl3945 module sometimes help and I can connect the network for another short time and this loops. Turning the wifi off on my laptop by pressing the wifi button really turns off the wifi, but it doesn't goes up with pressing it on again. Light on this button lights, but network manager doesn't allow me to check the checkbutton (see the attachment). It's for the 8th (!) time I did reloading of the iwl3945 module and very soon, after the computer is connected, the computer HANGS. Whole screen, mouse, graphics, everything is static. I'm not able to use virtual consoles and only pressing the turn-off button for 5 seconds works in order to reboot my computer. I am attaching the logs. Please ask for more information, not shure what to do. Thanks. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Jaunty, iwl3945 system hang, HP 6510b radio switch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345800 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 290753] Re: Multiple applications have stopped the suspend from taking place. vlc : Playing some media
I can confirm this bug twice, Firstily, I use Intrepid on HP 6510b with vlc and mozilla-plugin-vlc installed. If I do grep of vlc in ps, I don't get any result. I'm sure firefox is not running. Secondly, the same issue with eeebuntu based on intrepid (Asus EEE 901). Does anybody want me to give him/her some logs? OK, I see best solution in combining both ways: 1) including config option to force the ENVELOPE command 2) tell Google ad 2) does anyone know whether groups.google.com serves as a bugzilla or not for Google programmers? Probably the same problem. OK, another problem... I have a original Futurama DVD (more than 4,7 GB) and I tried my "mount -t udf ..." but I can't work with it.
