[Bug 279569] Re: Screennresolution applet no longer asks for confirmation of new resolution settings

2008-11-26 Thread Miguel Diago
Please add a confirmation message or some mechanism to let the user
revert a selected resolution. A few minutes ago I felt curious about how
my desktop would look at 400*300 px and had a hard time to find out how
to get back to 1440*900, because this configuration had rendered it
unusable. Luckily, the "recovery mode" at the bootloader did the trick
and restored my desktop :)

If there just had been a confirmation window nothing so stupid would
have happened... :P

[Bug 269403] [NEW] Seahorse doesn't warn the user when a private key is exported

2008-09-12 Thread Miguel Diago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

When a private key is exported, Seahorse 2.22.2 in Hardy doesn't warn
the user about how dangerous this can be if he doesn't take enough care
of his keys.

To reproduce this, double click a private key, go to Details tab and
click on Export. At this point both the public and private keys are
being exported and copied to a clear file, without telling/remembering
the user how important it is that he keeps this file secret.

I think it would be enough to show a popup warning box when the Export
button is clicked.

[Bug 219922] Re: Firefox 3 prints a letter-sized paged even when asked to print A4

2008-07-13 Thread Miguel Diago
I've noticed that Firefox doesn't print exactly Letter when you select
A4. It seems in my case that it simply prints the contents too close to
the top edge of the sheet, so a large white margin at the bottom
appears, and so it looks like a Letter output.

Maybe is it a problem of content not being correctly centered?

I'm attaching a photo of the output I obtain with both Letter and A4
settings.

[Bug 242513] [NEW] There should be a delay between successive "alert" boxes

2008-06-23 Thread Miguel Diago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

There are some "joke" websites which don't let the visitor close the
current window or tab by showing him infinite alert boxes generated with
Javascript.

For example, visit www.own3d.es (***CAUTION: contains _gay pornography_
and Firefox process must be killed to exit the site***). I am also
attaching its source code in a comment.

I think that Firefox should be able to detect this kind of situations
and insert a short delay between the alert boxes to allow the user to
close the window.

[Bug 236610] [NEW] Firefox behaviour with unknown certificate authorities can block navigation

2008-06-01 Thread Miguel Diago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When you access a secure webpage whose certificate has been signed by an
unknown authority, you are redirected to a warning message and taken out
of the website. This can be a problem when there are only some parts of
the webpage that are secured, like iframes. In such cases, the alert
about using an untrusted certificate can be bigger than the iframe
itself and so the user can't click the link to add an exception and
continue browsing the website.

For example, to reproduce this:
1. Go to http://www.renfe.es/
2. In the left-hand column, in the "Compra de billetes" box, select one random
element from the first roll menu.
3. See how the box becomes "secure" and a cropped security alert is shown in
which the bottom link to add an exception can't be accessed.

I will attach an screenshot of the problem.

[Bug 235277] [NEW] It is not possible to disable the "inertia" effect

2008-05-27 Thread Miguel Diago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

(Hardy)

When you click with the middle mouse button on a document, move it
around and then leave it, the document still moves a little bit like it
had an "inertia" effect.

Some users might not like this behaviour and would probably like to
disable this effect.

However, in the current version of Evince there isn't any way to disable
it, so I think it would be good to put some checkbox in a scrolling menu
to configure this behaviour.

When you get an incoming message notification in the notification area
(top-left corner of the screen in Gnome) and the name of the contact is
extremely large, the "View" and "Ignore" buttons get pushed out of the

[Bug 151956] Re: Gutsy RC1 LiveCD can't find flashplugin-nonfree when using install plugin on firefox

2008-03-08 Thread Miguel Diago
I think this bug is again present in Hardy Alpha 5 live CD.

Now Firefox 3 Beta can't install neither Adobe Flash, nor Gnash, showing
an error about "flashplugin-nonfree" or "mozilla-plugin-gnash" being not
found, and then informing the user that Flash has been (actually not)
successfully installed. However, this is solved by enabling multiverse
and universe respectively...

I can confirm this on Alpha 6 live CD.

In this case the only thing that is saved is the DNS addresses. I have
then to set manually from console my IP and the gateway.

[Bug 199870] [NEW] VLC doesn't pause when a video file is played with external subtitles

2008-03-08 Thread Miguel Diago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vlc

In Ubuntu Hardy Alpha 6, the pause function doesn't work in VLC 0.8.6d

pauses when I play a DVD with subtitles, though.

No error messages ever appear in the console.

[Bug 164845] Can't receive "drag and drop" chinese text from Firefox

2007-11-24 Thread Miguel Diago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

(Related to bug #58458)

In Gutsy:
1- Select the following text in Firefox: 中文
2- Drag and it to a Gedit window.
3- Notice that strange characters appear.

And I am not very sure if this is a general Gtk bug, because actually I
can drag the chinese characters from Firefox to an Evolution or
OpenOffice window.

Also, notice that if I drag the characters from a KDE application like
Kate they are correctly represented in Gedit.

Public bug reported:

The widget that pops up when you press the volume keys on a multimedia

[Bug 147408] With Spanish locale in "Open/Save..." KDE dialogs, shortcut to Desktop points to a worng folder

2007-09-30 Thread Miguel Diago
Public bug reported:

(Using Ubuntu Gutsy updated to 2007-09-30 with Gnome.)

In all KDE applications, when you try to open or save a file you get a
file browser with some shortcuts on the left.

With the Spanish locale, the "Desktop" (Escritorio) shortcut points to
~/Desktop. However, at least in Gnome, the real desktop is at
~/Escritorio.

[Bug 146651] Import assistant should integrate the import progress bar

2007-09-29 Thread Miguel Diago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

(Gutsy updated to 2007-09-29)

When you are importing (File->Import) a mailbox in Evolution, a progress
bar is showed outside the import assistant in a "child" window.

I think that the progress bar should be integrated into the main window
because the progress bar window does not show in the taskbar as any
other window does and can be hided by the main import dialog, so users
might not know what Evoultion is really doing.

2007-08-29 Thread Miguel Diago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

(Using Gutsy updated to 2007-08-29)

In the System view of Nautilus, when you right click on a partition icon
and then on Properties, you get a dialog where the partition label seems
to be editable. However, it actually isn't. For instance, if I erase the
current name of any partition and write another and press Enter, I get
an error message like this (in Spanish):

Lo siento, no se ha podido renombrar «Reproductor de música Apple iPod: MIGUEL»
a «abcde».

[Bug 54618] Re: Xawtv doesn't work with nvidia drivers

2007-07-17 Thread Miguel Diago
I can't reproduce this on Ubuntu 7.04 with built-in nvidia drivers
(GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8x card) and Xawtv 3.95.

Does Xawtv produce any error messages if run in a console? Can you
specify which version of Ubuntu and Xawtv are you using? Have you
downloaded your nvidia drivers from nVidia web page or from Ubuntu
repositories?

Thank you!
