[Bug 1870932] Re: ssh-add -L incorrectly reports a failure when successfully retrieving an empty identity list

2020-04-05 Thread Mike Mol
This did eventually work around my problem:
https://gist.github.com/mikemol/084759d9bbbaf818ecbb0688d4cc0f5c

I suppose the difference between the exit code of 1 and 2 was
sufficiently useful.

[Bug 1870932] [NEW] ssh-add -L incorrectly reports a failure when successfully retrieving an empty identity list

2020-04-05 Thread Mike Mol
Public bug reported:

Example of behavior:

```
mikemol@kaylee:~$ ssh-add -L
The agent has no identities.
mikemol@kaylee:~$ echo $?
1
mikemol@kaylee:~$
```

I expected an exit code of 0 if the agent was running. I don't need the
list of identities; I'm trying to validate that the agent is running,
accessible, and operational.

Re: [Bug 1273955] Re: Could not run Sparql query: 1.182: syntax error, unexpected character

2014-07-09 Thread Mike Mol
This was while using libtracker on Ubuntu 13.10, IIRC. I don't
remember the search tool; something very simple and basic, as I don't
typically use desktop environments. I don't remember much more, but
when I dug into it I remember getting the impression it was likely
because of the API's lack of query parameter binding. I don't remember
much more, sorry; it was six months ago.

On Fri, Jul 4, 2014 at 4:40 AM, Martyn Russell mar...@lanedo.com wrote:
Hi there Mike, I am the upstream maintainer. Are you able to find out

that, let me know what process you're using and I can assist! :)

[Bug 1273955] [NEW] Could not run Sparql query: 1.182: syntax error, unexpected character

2014-01-28 Thread Mike Mol
Public bug reported:

I'm unable to select various documents. For example, I have the Debian
Administrator's Handbook in my library. If I use tracker-needle to
search for samba, this shows up in the result set. *However*, if I
click on this result, a message box appears:

Could not retrieve tags for the current selection:
  1.182: syntax error, unexpected character

And the following is emitted to the console:

(tracker-needle:8238): Tracker-WARNING **: tracker-tags-view.vala:700:
Could not run Sparql query: 1.182: syntax error, unexpected character

Similar errors occur with other documents. For example, the EPUB form of
Windows Server 2008: The Definitive Guide results in (tracker-
needle:8238): Tracker-WARNING **: tracker-tags-view.vala:700: Could not
run Sparql query: 1.137: syntax error, unexpected character)

Actually, a *lot* of the documents give the 1.137 variant on the error,
including the PDF version, Windows Server 2008_ The Definitive
Guide.pdf, Backup Recovery.pdf, Backup _ Recovery.PDF, the EPUB
Using Samba, 3rd Edition, Using Samba, 3rd Edition.PDF, Linux
Networking Cookbook, LINUX Networking Cookbook, LDAP System
Administration, Managing NFS and NIS, 2nd Edition, Managing NFS and
NIS, 2nd Edition.PDF, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Administration (and
a listing document listed with the same title) and Essential System
Administration, 3rd Edition

[Bug 1271569] [NEW] Xournal only records first stroke of touchscreen input

2014-01-22 Thread Mike Mol
Public bug reported:

If I open xournal and draw on the screen, my first stroke is recorded
fine.

If I attempt a second stroke, only the initial contact point is
recorded, but no further points are recorded in the stroke.

If I *then* click on the Pen tool again, the scenario resets; I can
record a single stroke, but only the first contact point of subsequent
strokes until I select the Pen tool again.

What *should* happen:

When drawing, every point of every stroke is recorded, not just the
entirety of the first stroke followed by the first point of the second
stroke.

[Bug 1264322] Re: PGP / GPG decryption in Evolution is broken

2013-12-26 Thread Mike Mol
OK, I tried the ubuntu-bug approach. It brought up this bug as a
candidate for something I was trying to report. Of course it was, so I
told it to subscribe me.

It doesn't look like it added any data, though. Do you want me to file a
new bug report? The document you linked me to does not say how to obtain
whatever information it is that you're missing without filing a new bug
report.

[Bug 886410] [NEW] accept_ra_rtr_pref ignored or non-functional

2011-11-04 Thread Mike Mol
Public bug reported:

On my network, I broadcast additional routes via IPv6 RAs. These routes
do not appear to be picked up by the kernel, even though
/proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/accept_ra_rtr_pref is set to '1'

I ran into this issue because I'm also using gogoc to give my laptop a
globally unique IPv6 address that's valid even when my laptop isn't on
my home network. My home network has a /48 (divided into two /64s) a
distinct /64.

As soon as the gogoc client comes up, all traffic, even to my own IPv6
subnets, tries going out through gogoc--I got blocked by my own
firewall, because my traffic had the appearance of coming from outside.
(Well, it was; it was likely bouncing off of New York or Amsterdam
before it got back to me)

To solve this problem, I specifically noted my network's /48 and
distinct /64 in my RAs, but they were nowhere to be found in my
laptop's routing table.

I thought this was a NetworkManager issue at first, but I walked through
it with dbcw in #nm on Freenode, and this is where I wind up. I'll
attach radvd.conf, a stretch of syslog showing the connection and
disconnection from the network, and the conversation from #nm.

2011-11-04 Thread Mike Mol
Actually, dcbw may have found a bug in NM that prevented us from seeing
the notifications of routes becoming available, and asked that I move
the bug over to NM.

Now to figure out how...

[Bug 809918] [NEW] /etc/gdm/gdm.schemas ignored in favor of /usr/share/gdm/gdm.schemas

2011-07-13 Thread Mike Mol
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu release: 11.04
Package: gdm

gdm:
  Installed: 2.32.1-0ubuntu3.2
  Candidate: 2.32.1-0ubuntu3.2
  Version table:

Packages

What I expected to happen:
I edited /etc/gdm/gdm.schemas to set the DisallowTCP setting to 'false'. I
expected the setting to take effect upon restarting gdm.

What happened instead:
I edited /etc/gdm/gdm.schemas to set the DisallowTCP setting to 'false'.
The setting did not take effect upon restarting gdm.

I edited /usr/share/gdm/gdm.schemas to set the DisallowTCP setting to 'false'.
The setting took effect upon restarting gdm.

(At this point, both /etc/gdm/gdm.schemas and /usr/share/gdm/gdm.schemas
have DisallowTCP set to 'false')

Leaving /usr/share/gdm/gdm.schemas with DisallowTCP set to 'false', I
again edited /etc/gdm/gdm.schemas to set the DisallowTCP setting to
'true'.

Upon restart of gdm, behavior was still such that DisallowTCP was set to
'false', indicating that /etc/gdm/gdm.schemas was being ignored in favor
of /usr/share/gdm/gdm.schemas.

** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)

[Bug 809918] Re: /etc/gdm/gdm.schemas ignored in favor of /usr/share/gdm/gdm.schemas

2011-07-13 Thread Mike Mol
I'll look at the gconf docs and get things working the 'proper' way for
an individual user with user-supplied settings, but I dispute that there
isn't a bug here; settings under /etc should override settings in
/usr/share.

Even if the .schemas file is designed for configuring defaults settings.
/etc/gdm/gdm.schemas appears to be intended to represent system-local
defaults (as opposed to package defaults), and that file should either
be respected or removed, not ignored.

Do I need to re-file to get that addressed?

Ah, I misread the latter portion of your comment. gconf-schemas it is,
then.

[Bug 589783] Re: SATA failure, killed RAID0.

2010-06-04 Thread Mike Mol
I have two three-disk software-RAID setups. One set of three 1.5TBs in
RAID5, one set of three 1TBs in RAID0. The RAID5 is on the motherboard
host controller, the RAID0 is on the Marvell controller card. ext4
filesystems on both. I was doing an rsync dry run from the RAID0 to the
RAID5 array when rsync failed with I/O error.

dmesg buffer had filled with SATA complaints, so I dug farther back in
syslog and found the trace I provided in the bug description.

I can provide the whole syslog from bootup to current, if desired, but I
don't know how much filtering I can do to remove irrelevant information;
I'm not certain I know everything that would be irrelevant.

FWIW, I'm still in the same boot session. Two of the three RAID0 disks
plugged into the Marvell controller are refusing to respond to SMART
test commands. One of those two shows up in palimpest as no longer being
part of a RAID volume, while the other still shows as being a member.
I'm guessing the RAID0 is a total loss, but that's why I have the RAID5
for backup. :)

[Bug 546545] [NEW] SIP implementation incompatible with firewall configuration.

2010-03-24 Thread Mike Mol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ekiga

SIP is strictly signaling, and the audio/video component of the calls
occurs as part of an arranged connection. When negotiating a port for
audio (and possibly video; I didn't test that) media, Ekiga does not
choose a consistent, configurable or predictable receive port. Since I'm
running a firewall (firehol) on the same machine as Ekiga, that means I
can't selectively open up a port for it. I can, of course, tell firehol
to allow SIP traffic, but it (and iptables) can't predict where the
callback connection for audio and video media will be, portwise; telling
it to allow SIP traffic only opens up the signaling pathways.

Since I can't configure this in Ekiga, and since Ekiga isn't predictable
or consistent in choosing its own ports, I can't configure my firewall
to open up the relevant ports. My only option, short of setting up a
local proxy, would be allowing all incoming UDP traffic, which seems
ridiculous.

[Bug 267913] Re: hda-intel: IRQ timing workaround is activated for card #0. Suggest a bigger bdl_pos_adj

2009-03-22 Thread Mike Mol
I just noticed this in my dmesg as well:

[ 38.792010] ath0: no IPv6 routers present
[ 3001.069882] CE: hpet increasing min_delta_ns to 15000 nsec
[66541.465330] hda-intel: IRQ timing workaround is activated for card #0.
Suggest a bigger bdl_pos_adj.

(Those three lines follow each other in the output of dmesg; Included
for timing context.)

Current kernel is 2.6.27-11-generic, using linux-restricted-modules, as
well as a build of madwifi (Since Ubuntu's build doesn't support my
model of Atheros card.).

I've attached the output of lspci -vvnn and lsmod. I'm not experiencing
any sound issues outside of Flash hitting a massive stutter problem
after it's allowed to run long enough, but I don't think that's related,
as it happens on another computer with completely different hardware.

[Bug 269733] [NEW] mediatomb SIGSEGV when requesting folder listing with PS3 while indexing

2008-09-13 Thread Mike Mol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mediatomb-common

While mediatomb was indexing content in a directory tree containing CIFS
mount points, I tried enumerating the root folder using my PS3, and
mediatomb SIGSEGV'd. This is not a duplicate of Bug 196120, as that bug
is marked fixed in 0.11.0, and I'm running 0.11.0-1ubuntu1.

I can also easily cause SIGSEGV crashes with normal activity, but
without debugging symbols, I don't know if the crashes are occurring in
the same places.

Release:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
03:47:29 $ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
03:50:59 $

Version:
Version: 0.11.0-1ubuntu1

What I expected to happen:
I expected the PS3 to show me the PC folder, Photos and Videos folders.

What happened instead:
The PS3 told me no items found, and gdb trapped a SIGSEGV for the instance of
mediatomb.

** Affects: mediatomb (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 220819] Re: exim4 cannot be removed, if stopped

2008-08-17 Thread Mike Mol
I've seen this bug as well, though in my case exim4 was refusing to
start because it was misconfigured. Since exim4 wasn't started, I
couldn't install an mta that I knew how to configure until I fixed
exim4's configuration. A vexing situation...
