[Bug 1796698]
Actually, although the problem actually doesn't manifest now for majority of cases, it still is reproducible like this: 1. Create a new spreadsheet 2. Go to last column: AMJ (Ctrl+Arrow Right) 3. Change the width of column AMJ 4. Save as XLSX. The reason is the code in sc/source/filter/excel/xetable.cxx introduced in https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/64274b38f6cc50a8bb49f114f1ac9e7c1c3b3c4f back in 2009: that was the commit introduced export to XLSX (integrated to LO from Go-oo). The code starts with this comment: > // if last column is equal to last possible column, Excel adds one more which is directly taken from the older code that exports to XLS binary formats. Obviously, this is just a left-over from copy-paste. When writing to OOXML format, Excel doesn't do that. [Bug 1423034]
Please note that the improvement should not disable interoperability: user needs to be able to see similar/familiar strings from other applications. Even if something looks "incomprehensible", it's actually less issue than "easy-to-understand" name that doesn't ring a bell to user that saw it multiple times in other apps with a different name. Actually, for an average user, no text would be easy enough. But familiarity, and also googleability are of importance. To see it on screen, one needs to disable OpenGL and AntiAliasing in Tools->Options->LibreOffice->View. In older versions, one may look for AntiAliasing in Expert Configuration or in config files. The code was applied to OOo in i#102797, and was reverted later in i#105654. However, they still were reproducible in Linux distros before LO, possibly as part of GoOO (in 3.1 and 3.2 versions of OOo under SUSE and Ubuntu: see https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=108658 and https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=115511). The OOo issue didn't contain any clear specifications or test cases, only patches, neither are there any unit tests on this, so I cannot check if reverting this part of commit breaks something. [Bug 689349]
Adjusting the earliest affected version to 3.3.0 (according to comment 54 and my own testing - already REPRODUCIBLE with 3.3.0.4 under Win7x64). Adjusting the component: this problem not only affect Draw, but also any other module capable of using shapes, connectors etc. Tested with Version 4.3.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 335a8a84fe6349fd716d4978346cfff9c884dd9b, both Writer and Calc produce PDFs with dots around smileys (although there seems to be no way to convert them to polygons). Not sure if graphic stack is a proper component, maybe should be more generic Libreoffice? Removing defunct CC address with autoreply robot on other side (expecting one more unwanted message). I have a proposition. What if we don't fix this, but simply call it feature: imagine the new LO logo having smiling face and those two (not so tiny) dots! [Bug 1064560]
The test document seems to be broken. 1. If I open the file using any version starting from 3.3.0.4 and up to 4.1.1.2 under Win7x64, it opens with first page empty. When I scroll it down (so that I see some graphics on some pages), and then return to the first page, there are ghost graphics in the top left corner of the first page. They may be selected and moved, but if I scroll the document down and up again, they disappear and other graphics appear. 2. The 4.1.2.1 opens the document (with empty first page), and then crashes after a couple of seconds (looks like it continues to process the document after initial display, and the crash happens on some stage of this delayed processing). So, the problem is worse in 4.1.2.1. Despite the document itself is broken, I think the bug should be fixed, because the crash indicates some flaw in the code that doesn't expect something wrong in the input data. Fixing it will make the software more robust. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1064560 Title: [Upstream] soffice.bin crashed with SIGABRT To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/1064560/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
