[Bug 1931797] Re: Chromium Snap does not take over cookies and passwords
I just realized it's much worse. Every time I restart Chromium it has forgetten passwords and cookies. When I enter a password it asks me if I want to save. I click the save button. During the session it works fine. After restarting Chromium I have to type in the password again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931797 Title: Chromium Snap does not take over cookies and passwords To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1931797/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

But no matter which session type I select, either KDE Plasma Desktop or safe mode, KDE does not start, it always looks like safe mode (I think): There is only a console/terminal in the top left corner. It has no window decorations. There is nothing else on the screen, e.g. no bars, menus or background with plasmoids. When I type startkde into the console, KDE/Plasma starts completely normally. Window decorations are added to the console. I have to make sure never to close the console, otherwise KDE is killed, too. The same happens when logging in with a newly created user, so it cannot be a problem in any configuration in ~/.kde. /usr/share/xsessions/kde-plasma.desktop is correct and identical to other computers with no problems: [Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Type=XSession Exec=/usr/bin/startkde TryExec=/usr/bin/startkde Name=KDE Plasma Workspace Comment=The desktop made by KDE The metapackage kubuntu-desktop is installed. I have tried reconfiguring and reinstalling various packages that I or others thought might be responsible: sudo dpkg-reconfigure kdm sudo dpkg-reconfigure upstart sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg sudo apt-get install --reinstall kdm sudo apt-get install --reinstall plasma-desktop GNOME was installed on the same computer, too, and caused some problems after the upgrade to 10.04: instead of KDE being the default session, it was Unity, but no menus or control bars loaded. After trying all the things mentioned above, I uninstalled all GNOME/Unity-related packages to rule out they were causing the problem (according to that list: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Desktopumgebung_deinstallieren). It did not help, even though for two packages messages appeared that sounded like they might make a difference: sudo apt-get remove gnome-session [...] Entfernen von gnome-session ... update-alternatives: /usr/bin/startkde wird verwendet, um /usr/bin/x-session-manager (x-session-manager) im Auto-Modus bereitzustellen. [...] sudo apt-get remove metacity [...] Entfernen von metacity ... update-alternatives: /usr/bin/kwin wird verwendet, um /usr/bin/x-window-manager (x-window-manager) im Auto-Modus bereitzustellen. [...] I compared with sudo update-alternatives --config x-session-manager sudo update-alternatives --config x-window-manager with my other two computers that work fine after the upgrade to 11.04 and 11.10, they also use startkde and kwin. I added debug statements to /etc/X11/Xsession: #!/bin/sh # # /etc/X11/Xsession # # global Xsession file -- used by display managers and xinit (startx) # $Id: Xsession 967 2005-12-27 07:20:55Z dnusinow $ set -e echo $(date) --- Now in Xsession /tmp/startup.log #MONIKA PROGNAME=Xsession [...] and some other files: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/50x11-common_determine-startup and /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99x11-common_start No startup.log file in /tmp is being created! All users have writing permission to /tmp, I tried and could create files manually with no problem and ls -la shows drwxrwxrw as it should be. [Bug 555571] Re: Network Management disabled
@rmada: This is not a command, it is a file. You need to edit it with a text editor with root authorizations. For example (assuming you have KDE) run kdesu kate and enter your password. Then select File - Open and open /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state. Now you can edit and save the file. Marked this as not a duplicate of 524454, because there it is possible to enable the network by clicking on the KNetworkManager icon and enabling it. Seems to be a completely different issue (cause). I had the same problem with Kubuntu 10.04 on my computer about a month ago (August 2010). Today it happened with my husband's computer. It happened after a reboot, not after suspend. Other than that It's exactly as described by others above: - Both wired networking and wireless networking do not work. - When left-clicking or right-clicking on the KNetorkManager icon, it says in gray Netzwerkverwaltung deaktiviert (which means network management disabled). - There are no entries in that menu and no other point-and-click way to enable networking. - Restarting KNetworkManager does not help. - Rebooting the computer does not help. - In /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state NetworkingEnabled is set to false. - In the same file, WirelessEnabled is true, but WLAN does not work anyway. - The workaround of editing /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state to change to NetworkingEnabled=true and then running sudo service network-manager restart works. -- Network Management disabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/71 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 420351] Re: No user selection in Karmic login screen (KDM)
More precisely this is not just a complaint about the default behavior of having to type in the username versus clicking on one in the list. It is a real bug - changing the setting to display the list does nothing! Go to System Settings - [tab] Advanced - Logon Manager (KDM) - [enter password] - [tab] Users - [left bottom under Users] set the checkmark for Show list. (Setting the application language to English and restarting the system settings only changes some texts to English while others stay German, so I am guessing at some of the texts.) Reboot. No change. [Bug 397155] [NEW] Plasma doesn't start after restart of X server
Public bug reported: After I reboot the computer or restart the X server with Ctrl+Alt+Del, plasma doesn't start, or maybe it starts and stops again right away. I have automatic login activated, the log-in process starts, one can see the five symbols for disk, network (world), ..., K. But afterwards the screens are black. Only the mouse pointer is visible. I can press Alt+F2 and KRunnter appears. I type in plasma and it starts. After logout and login without restarting the X server in between, plasma starts normally. Should I attach it anyway? Which other log files are relevant? I am not sure if kdebase-plasma is the right package, maybe it should be on radeon or on the X server or something else. I had activated desktop effects, then X froze often and not even Ctrl+Alt+Del worked, so I deactivated them again. [Bug 296961] [NEW] Dolphin cannot open folders with %3a (: colon) in the name
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dolphin I use Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 3.5.10 and Dolphin 0.9.2-0ubuntu6.1. Konqueror can enter this directory with no problem, but Dolphin cannot open it, I get the error message file or folder irc.freenode.net:8001 does not exist. [Bug 156043] Re: Aim not working on Pidgin
I can send messages to AIM users with Pidgin just fine. Are you sure that the users aren't indeed off-line? In contrast to off-line ICQ users, off-line AIM users cannot receive messages and collect them later when they log in. Also, AOL has a feature that allows users to be reachable by SMS only. They appear on-line in the buddy list, but when you try to message them (no matter whether you are using AOL, AIM, Pidgin or any client) you get the error message that they aren't really on-line. Inside AOL one then has the option to SMS them (for money). [Bug 236249] Re: nautilus won't start unless with sudo because of eel:error
yes, it fixes the problem! I didn't know how to change type - in Modify the type was visible, but not possible to change - so I just hit Clean key and it changed to boolean. I did the same to the next key volumes_visible, it also had value 0 and it seemed to me it should be boolean. Now nautilus runs. I certainly didn't change this key by hand, didn't edit any config files. About a week ago I was playing with the look of my desktop and installed some packages (unfortunately I don't remember thier names now). Maybe some package I installed changed the config, but at first it worked OK - I would notice if nautilus won't start - and then after an update stopped working. [Bug 158457] Re: Warn Eclipse users if they aren't running a supported platform
In Ubuntu the problem is aggrevated by the fact that even when the user installs sun-java5-jre (or 6) and uses the alternatives system to set that JRE as the preferred one, Eclipse uses gcj anyway! This is because there is the file /etc/eclipse/java_home which looks like this and causes gcj to be used unless one sets JAVA_HOME: # This file determines the search order the Eclipse Platform uses to find a # compatible JAVA_HOME. This setting may be overridden on a per-user basis by # altering the JAVA_HOME setting in ~/.eclipse/eclipserc. /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj /usr/lib/kaffe/pthreads /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun /usr/lib/j2se/1.5 /usr/lib/j2se/1.4 /usr/lib/j2sdk1.5-ibm /usr/lib/j2sdk1.4-ibm /usr/lib/j2sdk1.5-sun /usr/lib/j2sdk1.4-sun It would be better if it looked like this: # This file determines the search order the Eclipse Platform uses to find a # compatible JAVA_HOME. So for me it is not a issue any more (and had totally forgotten about the bug report :) ). cu Monika Original-Nachricht Datum: Wed, 14 Nov 2007 12:30:58 - Von: Basilio Kublik [EMAIL PROTECTED] An: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Betreff: [Bug 118743] Re: Upgrade Edgy/Feisty and Amarok crashed Hi Monika You report this bug a while ago, and i was wondering if it's still an issue for you and if so, could you please provide the full error message, and maybe launching update-manager from a terminal to get a full description of the error. [Bug 157247] Mplayer doesn't play videos on Gutsy unless -vo x11 is specified
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mplayer I have recently upgraded from Edgy, in which mplayer worked flawlessly, first to Feisty and then to Gutsy. Now when I run mplayer, no window pops up, no video or sound plays, the file seems to end immediately (it also says End of file). I tried it with an *.mpg.avi and an *.wmv file. I use Kubuntu and the fglrx driver. I played around with the options and finally found that -vo x11 makes mplayer work. [Bug 108606] Re: Kubuntu update-manager for Upgrade from Edgy to Feisty does not show error when aborting
The problem still exists. I tried it the same way described above, starting sudo adept_updater from the terminal, it starts the upgrade wizard for Feisty in the end. On the first try it stopped when it got a 404 from one of the repositories in my sources.list. That error information and any progress information was only seen in the terminal window, no GUI. The output to the terminal window says can't load DistUpgradeViewKDE at some point. The sources.list is unchanged, i.e. still says edgy everywhere. I will attach the output as 404.log. I then outcommented the offending repository from my sources.list (isn't the upgrade wizard supposed to do this?) and tried again. It stops at some point with a message in the terminal like: Asking for confirmation ... Do you really wish to continue? This will last some hours and the upgrade process cannot be interrupted. This output and all other output and progress information is again only seen in the terminal window, there is no GUI. Again just the Adept Updater sitting there with it's Beenden (Close) button. The output again says can't load DistUpgradeViewKDE at some point. I will attach that output as second.log. The sources.list is at this point changed to feisty already. I will also attach the apt.log and main.log from /var/log/dist-upgrade as they were at the time after the second run. ** Attachment added: 404.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/8218849/404.log -- Kubuntu update-manager for Upgrade from Edgy to Feisty does not show error when aborting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108606 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for adept in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

And something weird happens afterwards: In the terminal window from which I started sudo adept_updater, after ending the attempt to upgrade to Feisty, error and debug messages will be shown for other KDE programs, e.g. kate, as if I had started kate from that terminal, even though I started it the normal way from the K-menu. -- Kubuntu update-manager for Upgrade from Edgy to Feisty does not show error when aborting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108606 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for adept in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 77993] Re: kget crashes after pausing files in Edgy
I have the same problem, but I don't get a detailed error message. If I start KGet from the console, it says after the crash (after pressing Pause): KCrash: Application crashing (KGet), and that's it. After restarting KGet, it usually has forgotten that download that was paused, unless KGet has before been closed successfully and then restarted. When one particular download causes this problem, then after restarting KGet it will happen again and again when trying to pause this download. Quitting KGet and restarting it helps sometimes, but not every time. Just now I restarted it about five times until I could pause the download. I can't see a pattern in what files cause this and which ones don't. All the files are fairly large between about 350 MB and 1 GB. It doesn't seem to matter much has been downloaded of it. Also not from which site it comes. -- kget crashes after pausing files in Edgy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/77993 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
