the suspend problem seems to be resolved with the -14 kernel update (Thinkpad 
x60s)
Don't have an SDCard to try the reader...

[Bug 96877] SDcard reader stopped working on Thinkpad X60s

Public bug reported:

Since the update to kernel 2.6.20-13 from 2.6.20-12 the SDCard reader isn't 
recognized at boot, and obviously if I insert an SDCard in the reader nothing 
happens.
Before, with the older kernel, everything went fine: the reader was recognized 
and when I inserted a card it was mounted.
Anyway, I'm not sure it's a kernel bug...
