[Bug 578243] Re: zabbix-agentd problem when use server=localhost parameter

2011-11-02 Thread Morgan Collett
This happens for me too: the default configuration of Server=localhost
doesn't work, so Zabbix doesn't monitor its own host.

The workaround of setting Server=127.0.0.1 works.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Running Natty - 11.04, upgraded from 10.10 on Apple MacBookPro5,3

When I plug in/out my USB mouse (MS Intellimouse Explorer), X crashes
and I get back to the gdm login screen.

[Bug 537885] Re: gtg crashed with RuntimeError in module()

2010-04-13 Thread Morgan Collett
The problem is happening in GTG/tools/openurl.py where it forks a
process to check if xdg-open or exo-open are available on the system.

If I make the following change, the crash is prevented (but we lose the
ability to detect these programs - so only works on a gnome desktop):

--- openurl.py.old 2010-04-13 11:18:30.0 +0200

[Bug 546393] Re: MacBook Pro 5, 1 / 5, 2 / 5, 3 / 5, 5 fails to boot into 10.04 desktop

2010-04-12 Thread Morgan Collett
I can't help with testing the kernel, but I had the problem in this bug
report when I upgraded from a daily alternate image a few days after
Beta 1.

I fixed my system by booting the recovery mode with nomodeset appended
to the grub boot command, and then ran the manual nvidia install shown
in the known issues for http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/lucid/alpha2 - the
bit about Jockey not supporting the Nvidia alternates system. I then
rebooted and the nvidia kernel module failed to load, but the vesa
fallback worked. I then reinstalled nvidia-common and it worked, fixing
the nvidia driver.

Hope that helps as a workaround, I don't know if it will still work at
this point.

[Bug 557090] [NEW] Can't enable universe

2010-04-07 Thread Morgan Collett
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

In Ubuntu One Preferences there is the option to sync bookmarks. Below
this it says Firefox extension not installed. When I click Install,
it asked if I want to enable Universe. I did already have Universe
enabled, but with a non-official mirror with the following line in my
/etc/apt/sources.list:

deb ftp://ftp.wa.co.za/pub/ubuntuarchive/ lucid main restricted universe
multiverse

I clicked OK and it reported that it could not enable Universe, and went
back to the Preferences screen.

On trying again, it doesn't ask to enable Universe - instead asking me
if I want to install package 'xul-ext-bindwood' which seems to be the
correct behaviour.

[Bug 356493] [NEW] [Quanta UW1] suspend/resume failure

2009-04-06 Thread Morgan Collett
Public bug reported:

The problem occurs when trying to suspend or hibernate using the power
button (and resulting menu) or by leaving the netbook until the battery
runs low and then it tries to hibernate.

The problem occurs when trying to suspend or hibernate, not in waking
up. It happens every time. The symptom is that I get a black text mode
screen with a flashing cursor in the top left corner. Nothing responds,
and I need to hold down the power button to power it off.

When I power back on, there is no sign of resuming - it does a normal
boot up.

This is a new model of netbook - Quanta UW1 - and suspend/hibernate have
not ever worked with it (on Intrepid or Jaunty).

ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from
resuming properly.

[Bug 356493] Re: [Quanta UW1] suspend/resume failure

2009-04-06 Thread Morgan Collett
Following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume,
there was no flashing caps lock light.

I ran both (sudo) pm-suspend and pm-hibernate from the console, and
there was no output visible - in both cases immediately the screen was
cleared and I saw the flashing cursor at the top left of a blank console
screen. There was no HDD activity during this time, and the power light
did not flash - it stayed solid.

Alt-SysRq-R-E-I-S-U-B did result in the machine rebooting.

2009-04-01 Thread Morgan Collett
Public bug reported:

The Quanta UW-1 netbook has a built in 3G HSDPA adapter on the USB bus.
Support for it is in the 2.6.29 kernel, and is provided by this git
patch:

Steven, were you upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid?

Try this: sudo apt-get remove sugar-toolkit

Then if python-sugar-toolkit didn't get installed in the process,
install it now:

sudo apt-get install python-sugar-toolkit

Make sure you now have the appropriate sugar packages installed:

sudo apt-get install sugar sugar-activities

[Bug 330197] Re: New upstream version: sugar-terminal-activity 21

2009-02-18 Thread Morgan Collett
Good points.

.po files are shipped with Sugar activities on the OLPC XO, in the
theoretical hope that teh childrenz!!1! will be able to fix bad
translations themselves and that some peer-to-peer translation
distribution mechanism would be developed. That's definitely out of
scope for Ubuntu, so I'll remove the po files.

I'll look into using setup.py for installing - my goal was to get the
new upstream version packaged before feature freeze using Jani's
existing packaging and then work on improving it.

[Bug 330204] [NEW] New upstream version: sugar-turtleart-activity 31

2009-02-16 Thread Morgan Collett
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sugar-turtleart-activity

New upstream release:
http://download.sugarlabs.org/sources/sucrose/fructose/TurtleArt/TurtleArt-31.tar.bz2

Debian have chosen to stay with the stable 0.82.x releases at this time,
but we want to ship 0.84.x which will be the next stable release, with
jaunty. This upload gets us the feature-freeze 0.83.x release.

[Bug 328015] Re: [jaunty] New upstream version: sugar-read-activity

2009-02-16 Thread Morgan Collett
Please sponsor - diff.gz attached.

Please note that this was not shipped for intrepid because upstream
depended on non-upstream patches for evince which have now landed in
evince and gnome-python-desktop so we can ship it again.

[Bug 329033] [NEW] [hardy sru] Need rebuild against newer xulrunner

2009-02-13 Thread Morgan Collett
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hulahop

xulrunner-1.9 1.9.0.6 landed in hardy. sugar-hulahop was built against
1.9.0.5. Since the path changes to libxul, we need a rebuild against
1.9.0.6.

Since hardy has a different sourcepackage to intrepid and jaunty, this
has been logged as a separate bug.

It was fixed for sugar-hulahop in jaunty in bug 328033. jaunty does not
have the hulahop package, but it's fundamentally the same as sugar-
hulahop.

The impact of the bug is that Sugar's web browser based on xulrunner
(sugar-web-activity) fails to start because the libxul.so path has
changed. This is a very important package for Sugar, and prevents Sugar
users from running their web browser.

The fix is a simple rebuild against the current xulrunner-1.9, so the
risk is minimal for doing this to the stable releases. Jaunty has been
fixed by a no changes upload to sugar-hulahop 0.4.8~dfsg-3ubuntu4.

The debdiff will be attached.

TEST CASE: Install sugar and sugar-activities. Launch Sugar by running
sugar-emulator. Press F3 to see the Home View. The icons along the
bottom of the frame launch activities. Click on the Browse icon. If the
icon pulses at the centre of the screen for several seconds and then
disappears, it failed. If a web browser appears, then it succeeded. Quit
the sugar emulator by pressing alt-q.

Since the browser completely fails to launch now, and the fix is simply
a rebuild, there's no risk of further regression.
