[Bug 545096] Re: [lucid][R500 X1400] intermitent screen corruption (pink world ) - regression from -20 to -21 kernel
2.6.37-rc3 (ubuntu 10.10 this time) -download from kernel.org (, tar xjf etc.) -make clean distclean mrproper -make menuconfig (and just exit) -make -make modules_install -make firmware_install -make install -update-initramfs -c -k 2.6.37-rc3 (-remove nomodeset) -update-grub -reboot works ok for me. unity still looks funny - UNUSABLE (see attachment) ** Attachment added: Screenshot.jpg https://bugs.launchpad.net/archlinux/+source/linux/+bug/545096/+attachment/1749694/+files/Screenshot.jpg -- [lucid][R500 X1400] intermitent screen corruption (pink world ) - regression from -20 to -21 kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545096 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

might be workarounds for those still affected - and forget about nomodeset!: -on fedora 14 use lxrandr to set a different resolution and then switch back to (eg 1400x800/Auto for me)... was stable for 2 hours... then I tried.. -vanilla 2.6.37-rc2 on fedora 14. no problems with flickering or lines (never had pink world) for about 30min now... maybe this is already fixed. second option might be interesting for ubuntu users as well. still no luck: 2.6.35-22-generic (ubuntu 10.10) some X1400 in a Toshiba Satellite A100 that needs _toshiba_ drivers for XP (win7 has drivers included) catalyst did not support this X1400 -nomodeset works, but unity is broken -kms produces a black screen with some horizontal gray lines after one or two minutes (or even 10 minutes sometimes) how can I produce usefull data for a bug report? -- [lucid][R500 X1400] intermitent screen corruption (pink world ) - regression from -20 to -21 kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545096 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

archlinux now has 2.6.34 (vanilla as usually I think) and the screen corruption looks a little different (flickering/scrolling instead of grey lines on black background) - radeon.modeset=0 still needed et/true combat: never installed it on ubuntu, but on archlinux and x1400 there is no problem with low FPS... maybe creating a xorg.conf with the exact same settings that karmic uses might help? -- [lucid][R500 X1400] intermitent screen corruption (pink world ) - regression from -20 to -21 kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545096 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 410058] Re: Black screen with radeon KMS
affects me in lucid on a X1400 radeon (Toshiba a100 series), adding radeon.modeset=0 as a kernel parameter is a workaround. black screen (and some grey horizontal lines) occurs some time (1min+) after booting. happened -after loggin in (gdm) while loading my desktop (gnome) -but as well when plymouth asks me for the password It is possible to switch to a text-console (shift-alt-f3) blindly and reboot with ctrl-alt-del this has been a problem for some weeks now: I use radeon.modeset=0 now for some weeks. I waited with this bug-report because there has been some problem with gdm crashig always the first time I enter the login-password. This problem seems to be fixed with the plymouth update today. - I tried again with KMS enabled(looks much prettier). still no luck (=black screen with grey lines). -- Black screen with radeon KMS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410058 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 278810] Re: Doesn't always display suspend / hibernate options (race between g-p-m and f-u-s-a?)
I have a similar problem on karmic. After updating there are only entries for Guest session, Lock screen, Log out..., Restart... and Shutdown... in the user switcher. -Hibernate was available in the fusa after installation of karmic-alpha2 and worked ok. -Hibernate works fine If I log out and klick on hibernate in the menu of gdm. -My swap is a lvm2 logical volume on a luks partition. -I already tried to add resume=/dev/mapper/ubuntu-swap to the kernel options. This was the thing to do with Archlinux but doesn't seem to work here. -- Doesn't always display suspend / hibernate options (race between g-p-m and f-u-s-a?) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/278810 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
