[Bug 271973] [NEW] Need to unload/load some modules in order to get cpu-scaling working
Public bug reported: By default I can't change the cpu frequency when my system is just booted. It's stuck to 800MHz My supported frequencies are 800MHz, 1,6GHz, 1,8GHz and 2,0GHz. I use the applet for gnome-panel and I can click 1,6, 1,8 and 2,0 but it never changes, it continues stuck at 800MHz. Workaround: I have found a solution to make it work. If I open a terminal and type (as root obviously): modprobe -r cpufreq_stats; modprobe acpi_cpufreq; modprobe cpufreq_stats; I get: FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq (/lib/modules/2.6.27-3-generic/kernel/arch/x86/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpufreq.ko): Device or resource busy acpi_cpufreq is not loaded, but CPU SCALING WORKS!! This is quite wierd. To make it weirder: if my laptop is connected to the current, cpu scaling works without any workaround but if I disconnect it, cpu scaling doesn't work. Everytime that my system is rebooted I have to do it to get cpu scaling working with batteries. [Bug 270223] [NEW] Can't install svg viewer plugin for firefox
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 Today, I have visited a webpage which has requested me to have installed a plugin called 'SVG Viewer 3'. As I hadn't it, I have been automatically redirected to http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/auto/. There you can download the plugin as you can download the flash plugin for firefox. But it doesn't work for me. I have followed the instructions (untar and run install.sh) and the only thing that the script has done is creating a symbolic link. ls -l /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ total 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 2008-09-02 18:38 flashplugin-alternative.so - /etc/alternatives/mozilla-flashplugin lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 47 2008-09-14 20:30 libNPSVG3.so - /home/murdok/Download/adobesvg-3.0/libNPSVG3.so Firefox doesn't recognize this plugin. It doesn't appear when I type about:plugins in the address bar. Besides, Firefox doesn't output too much information when is run on a terminal so I don't know what else to do. Adobe has also a test page to see if your plugin is working. Here: http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/svgtest.html firefox reports that you need a plugin to view all the contents of the webpage (good!), but if you click on 'install missing plugins...', firefox finds nothing. In my opinion, Ubuntu should provide a package for firefox similar to flashplugin-nonfree (svgplugin-nonfree). Thank you for reading me. Public bug reported: Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 daily 15 September I have booted ubuntu livecd in my laptop. As my wireless adaptor needs ndiswrapper, the network wasn't configured. I have tried to install Nvidia driver using jockey (just to test it) and as I hadn't connection to the internet, Apport has captured an exception. I have closed apport and then I couldn't close jockey. It was like waiting for something (maybe the driver download to finish) and the only way has been killing it from the terminal. Yes, i can confirm it too. This is very annoying, it has always happened to me and I didn't know why. [Bug 136303] Re: [Gutsy] Thunderbird doesn't open http link in firefox
It has also happened to me. I was using Ubuntu Gutsy, then upgraded to Hardy installing from CD and using the same partition as home. [Bug 145172] can't extract splitted 7zip
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: file-roller Hi. I have an iso image splitted in 42 7zip files. They are like: MyIsoImage.7z.001 MyIsoImage.7z.002 MyIsoImage.7z.003 MyIsoImage.7z.004 [...] MyIsoImage.7z.042 Mainly file-roller doesn't detect it's a 7zip file (while 'file' command does with the first part (.001)) Once it's not detected as compressed file, I tried to force opening it with file-roller but now file-roller says that the format is not supported.
