[Bug 272742] [NEW] eog won't ask to mount a volume

2008-09-21 Thread MurDoK
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

Intrepid Alpha6 fully updated.
When you have just installed ubuntu, you don't usually have the rights to mount
volumes.

Eog does nothing when you want to open a folder, in this case a volume,
that is not mounted and which you don't have rights to mount (yet).

The expected behaviour should be running policykit.
It's similar to when you want to access to a volume from computer:///... :
has rights? - open
hasn't rights? - ask password

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
NonfreeKernelModules: wl
Package: eog 2.23.92-0ubuntu1
ProcEnviron:
 SHELL=/bin/bash

2008-09-21 Thread MurDoK
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

Intrepid Alpha6 fully updated.

Bug #272742 may be related to this one.

Steps to reproduce:
1-Make sure you don't have rights to mount any volume.
2-Run eog; File-Open.
3-Choose any volume (Don't worry if it's not opened due to bug #272742) and
close the window.
4-Mount ANY volume from Places-volume (should ask for password).
5-Crash! (If it hasn't crashed then umount the volume and it should also crash).

[Bug 272761] [NEW] totem won't play last file of m3u list if there's no windows endline CR/LF

2008-09-21 Thread MurDoK
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I have an album ripped using windows so the m3u file has Windows newline CR/LF
on every line (those ^M seen in vi).
The problem is when you are playing the album using the m3u file and the last

06-El Puerto.mp3
EOF

When I click on the m3u file, totem is launched.
It works fine until the fifth track arrives. Totem says An error occurred

It's not a bug. You only need to install the package openoffice.org-

Anyways it's logical that if you choose to install Ubuntu in language,
then the installer should automagically install language support in
openoffice.

[Bug 271789] Re: [needs-packaging] epigrass 2.0

2008-09-18 Thread MurDoK
Hello Flávio!

To get a package into Ubuntu, please file a bug in Launchpad and make
sure it has the tag needs-packaging. Please mention where to get the
source for it and which license it is under. An example request is here.
Make sure you check which packages have already been requested. For
packages in Debian, but not in Ubuntu file a bug with the summary field
please sync package packagename from debian distro where
packagename is the package you would like to see.

You can read more here:

[Bug 271973] [NEW] Need to unload/load some modules in order to get cpu-scaling working

2008-09-18 Thread MurDoK
Public bug reported:

By default I can't change the cpu frequency when my system is just booted. It's
stuck to 800MHz
My supported frequencies are 800MHz, 1,6GHz, 1,8GHz and 2,0GHz.
I use the applet for gnome-panel and I can click 1,6, 1,8 and 2,0 but it never
changes, it continues stuck at 800MHz.

Workaround:
I have found a solution to make it work. If I open a terminal and type (as root
obviously):
modprobe -r cpufreq_stats; modprobe acpi_cpufreq; modprobe cpufreq_stats;

I get:
FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq
(/lib/modules/2.6.27-3-generic/kernel/arch/x86/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpufreq.ko):
 Device or resource busy

acpi_cpufreq is not loaded, but CPU SCALING WORKS!!

This is quite wierd.
To make it weirder: if my laptop is connected to the current, cpu scaling works
without any workaround but if I disconnect it, cpu scaling doesn't work.

Everytime that my system is rebooted I have to do it to get cpu scaling
working with batteries.

System:
Ubuntu 8.10 fully updated (18 sept)
Laptop is HP Pavilion tx2000 model (some other users have reported this issue
in ubuntuforums too).

logs.tar.gz includes:
uname -a
version_signature
dmesg
lspci -vvnn
dmidecode
/proc/acpi

[Bug 270223] [NEW] Can't install svg viewer plugin for firefox

2008-09-14 Thread MurDoK
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Today, I have visited a webpage which has requested me to have installed
a plugin called 'SVG Viewer 3'. As I hadn't it, I have been
automatically redirected to
http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/auto/.

There you can download the plugin as you can download the flash plugin for
firefox. But it doesn't work for me.
I have followed the instructions (untar and run install.sh) and the only thing
that the script has done is creating a symbolic link.

ls -l /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 2008-09-02 18:38 flashplugin-alternative.so -
/etc/alternatives/mozilla-flashplugin
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 47 2008-09-14 20:30 libNPSVG3.so -
/home/murdok/Download/adobesvg-3.0/libNPSVG3.so

Firefox doesn't recognize this plugin. It doesn't appear when I type
about:plugins in the address bar.
Besides, Firefox doesn't output too much information when is run on a terminal
so I don't know what else to do.

Adobe has also a test page to see if your plugin is working. Here:
http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/svgtest.html firefox reports
that you need a plugin to view all the contents of the webpage (good!),
but if you click on 'install missing plugins...', firefox finds nothing.

In my opinion, Ubuntu should provide a package for firefox similar to
flashplugin-nonfree (svgplugin-nonfree).

Thank you for reading me.

[Bug 270339] [NEW] [Intrepid] Jockey frozen after trying to install a driver without internet connection

2008-09-14 Thread MurDoK
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 daily 15 September

I have booted ubuntu livecd in my laptop. As my wireless adaptor needs
ndiswrapper, the network wasn't configured.
I have tried to install Nvidia driver using jockey (just to test it) and as I
hadn't connection to the internet, Apport has captured an exception.

I have closed apport and then I couldn't close jockey. It was like
waiting for something (maybe the driver download to finish) and the only
way has been killing it from the terminal.

Also I have to add that it doesn't happen in Hardy 8.04.

I attach a screenshot. You can read the error in terminal in the background.
Sorry but I hadn't copied the text before rebooting, but if it's needed I'll
provide it full.

[Bug 264803] [NEW] [Hardy] sftp nautilus. read ssh config User

2008-09-04 Thread MurDoK
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hi!

I use a lot the sftp://something function in nautilus. Apparently
nautilus reads the file ~/.ssh/config which is good. But in my case I'm
using a ssh key pair to connect to my desktop computers from my laptop.
Nautilus doesn't read all parameters, more concretely nautilus seems to
ignore the parameter User.

Let's give an example ~/.ssh/config:
Host desktop
User murdok
HostName 192.168.7.28
--eof--

If I type sftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED] it works perfectly. Instead, if I type
sftp://desktop (as if I did $ sftp desktop in a console), a popup
windows asks me for the user/password.

It's not the expected behaviour and it's becoming a bit annoying for me.
Thanks to the developers! If more information is need or I didn't explain it
well, just ask me.

It has also happened to me.
I was using Ubuntu Gutsy, then upgraded to Hardy installing from CD and using

I have resolved it following the thread that Nico Dietrich has given but
changing user.js by prefs.js.

To sum up. Add the following lines to ~/.mozilla-
thunderbird/*default*/prefs.js

user_pref(network.protocol-handler.app.http, /usr/bin/firefox);
user_pref(network.protocol-handler.app.https, /usr/bin/firefox);

Can this be fixed?

This bugs freezes all my X system. I can only log into a tty and then kill
firefox from there.
It's easy: just click on Bookmarks and then scroll down til the end.
Then right click and create a new folder. The name of the folder doesn't matter.
Click again on bookmarks and try to drag and drop the new folder into the bar
under the address bar.

If you need more information just ask me.

[Bug 145172] can't extract splitted 7zip

2007-09-26 Thread MurDoK
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

Hi.

I have an iso image splitted in 42 7zip files.
They are like:
MyIsoImage.7z.001
MyIsoImage.7z.002
MyIsoImage.7z.003
MyIsoImage.7z.004
[...]
MyIsoImage.7z.042

Mainly file-roller doesn't detect it's a 7zip file (while 'file' command does
with the first part (.001))
Once it's not detected as compressed file, I tried to force opening it with
file-roller but now file-roller says that the format is not supported.

I can uncompress it perfectly using 7z:

**
$ 7z e MyIsoImage.7z.001

7-Zip 4.43 beta Copyright (c) 1999-2006 Igor Pavlov 2006-09-15
p7zip Version 4.43 (locale=es_ES.UTF-8,Utf16=on,HugeFiles=on,1 CPU)

Processing archive: MyIsoImage.7z.001

Extracting MyIsoImage.cdi

Everything is Ok
