Re: [Bug 319458] Re: Weird panel behavior

2009-01-26 Thread Murali
Sorry I didn't take any screenshot and the behavior is quite random. I'll try
to explain it in few lines though. When i bring up any file or app the panel
seems to shake quite feverishly something like how an object appears when it's
under water in a pool and there's ripple in the water.

Sorry for that explanation :-), don't know if it makes any sense but
thats' the closest i could think about.

Re: [Bug 318945] Re: Empty screen on Konsole

2009-01-19 Thread Murali
Hi,
Thanks for your prompt response. Here's some detail
I've Kubuntu 8.10 which i upgraded to JJ 9.01.
1. After OS upgrade, avant window navigator app crashed possibly due to lack of
support in 9.01, following which konsole started behaving weirdly.
2. I've konsole (KDE terminal and not gnome-terminal) and I had expected it to
work normally even though avant crashed.
3. KDE crashed subsequently and even after logging back in konsole was broken.
I had to bring up a new instance.
Yes, it happened few times. I didn't try entering "reset" as i couldn't see
anything on konsole, no prompt, no cursor, so was not sure it could really
accept any input.
Thanks again,
Murali.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Are you able to reproduce this?
Are you talking about gnome-terminal (The one that starts if you press alt+f2
and enter gnome-terminal)?

What happens if you enter "reset" when your terminal is blank?

greetings

Martin

[Bug 22096] Re: toshiba_acpi does not work on Toshiba Tecra M2 laptop

2008-10-05 Thread Murali
I did switch to the Beta 8.10 release running 2.6.27-4. Unfortunately,
now several things related to acpi have stopped working:

1. The toshiba-acpi kernel module itself seems to be missing. Thus, the
Fn + keys for controlling brightness, etc., don't work at all.

2. I can still choose Hibernate from the power settings, but all that
does is lock the screen and ask for the password. If I do log out, and
get back to the username prompt, and then choose Hibernate, then it
works.

[Bug 261318] Re: Regression: new Toshiba Laptop Support (tlsup) driver breaks Toshiba hotkeys; input device does not support 'kbd' input handler

2008-10-08 Thread Murali
I have the same problem as above, in that I don't see the Suspend
option. Running it from a shell blanks the screen, and immediately I
then get a prompt for my password as if it is waking up. I cannot
suspend or hibernate as long as I am logged in to my account. Running
Hibernate from the main username/password prompt does work though.

[Bug 9870] Re: Better spam filtering for evolution

The filter as such works, but doesn't seem to be applied to the inbox,

for Junk for the filtering to take place. If Fiesty it worked as it
showed, but not now. This seems to be similar to

It was working fine in the older versions of Ubuntu, and even when I
upgraded to 7.10. I now had to reinstall 7.10 completely, after trying

In 7.10 now, my experiences for Hibernation and Suspend are similar to
many of the posts above. The screen remains completely blank, and while
there is harddrive activity, I can't see anything on the screen. The
only option that works is to poweroff and restart.

When I tried 8.04 alpha version with the 2.6.24 development kernel, the
issue was again similar.

I do have the nvidia restricted driver on

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Are you able to reproduce this?
Are you talking about gnome-terminal (The one that starts if you press alt+f2

What happens if you enter "reset" when your terminal is blank?

[Bug 33372] Re: Cannot wake up from suspend and hibernate

2008-01-05 Thread Murali
Machine: Toshiba Protege M200

Kernel: Linux version 2.6.22-14-generic ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc
version 4.1.3 20070929 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.2-16ubuntu2)) #1 SMP
Distribution: 7.10

It was working fine in the older versions of Ubuntu, and even when I
upgraded to 7.10. I now had to reinstall 7.10 completely, after trying
8.04 alpha.
