[Bug 1176674] [NEW] Kubuntu 13.04 amd64 LiveUSB installation crashes at " Running grub install dummy"
Public bug reported: Hi, The Installer crashes at "Running grub install dummy" and I tried to report using command line "ubuntu-bug ubiquity" but it pops up a message saying "This is not an official Ubuntu package. Please remove any third party package and try again." So I decided to file a bug report here. Here are the detailed steps to the crash; step 1 : Booted Kubuntu 13.04 amd64 LiveUSB in UEFI mode step 2 : Selected Install Kubuntu step 3 : Selected "install third part software" step 4 : Used manual disk partitioning step 5 : Filled out all the remaining necessary details like time zone, keyboard layout, user details step 6 : Installer tries to run grub install dummy and crashes Later I ran ubiquity in debug mode and it showed the message "The 'grub-efi' package failed to install into /target/. Without the GRUB boot loader, the installed system will not boot". I temporarily fixed the problem using Boot-Repair. I am attaching the debug file and some log files too. If you need more details I would be happy to provide. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: crash grub install ** Attachment added: "Syslog" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176674/+attachment/3666166/+files/syslog -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176674 Title: Kubuntu 13.04 amd64 LiveUSB installation crashes at " Running grub install dummy" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1176674/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 658570] [NEW] rfkill has blocked wifi drivers and will not allow unblocking
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rfkill My Wireless driver was working perfectly under lucid. However, upon upgrade to maverick, the network manager applet constantly displays 'device not ready'. When i run 'sudo ifconfig wlan0 up', it gives 'SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not possible due to RF-kill' I tried running 'rfkill list all' (both with and without sudo). The cursor just goes to the next line and keeps blinking. i tried leaving it on for about half an hour in a terminal window and nothing happens. The same result for 'rfkill unblock all' (again, with and without sudo). So right now, I'm pretty much stuck with no way to get my wireless working. Wireless Controller : Atheros Communications Inc.
