[Bug 2067568] Re: iwlwifi Microcode SW error detected

2024-08-01 Thread Nancy Chen
This issue is not seen on the same hardware during our recent test with
Jammy and Noble.

However, it appears on other distro and hardware concombination, like this one
in Focal.

Do we need to file another bug for tracking or use this one?

[Bug 2064560] Re: kernel panic with linux-intel-iotg 5.15.0.1056.62

2024-05-08 Thread Nancy Chen
Here's the logs.
https://pastebin.canonical.com/p/fCg7GXhqCG/

There seems no interruption/corruption/error during the installation.
The kernel updated from 1052 to 1056, and then went into kernel panic
after reboot. Could it be the previous version (1052 v.s. 1055) that
makes the difference?

[Bug 1453538] Re: Invisible mouse pointer

2015-11-20 Thread Nancy Schorr
What worked for me on 14.04.3 was the grub change above. Removed the
"quiet splash". That alone seemed to work.

Had tried many other things including all the lightdm restarts, etc. -
none of those worked.

Also went into the Displays setting and noticed it had an "internal"
display and a 2nd display which was the real existing display. Turned
off the "internal" display. Not sure if this had anything to do with
it.

[Bug 1392062] [NEW] you said someone was trying to change my system

2014-11-12 Thread Nancy
Public bug reported:

You came on and said that someone was trying to change my system, and
did I want to debug. Don't know anything about how to do this, so I
simply took out windows and reloaded Ubuntu, because you did not come
back on and tell me anymore information, so I did not know what
happened. I took out windows completely, but do not know if putting
Ubuntu back in deleted the problem. Because it is still showing my log
in as going back later than the time that I put Ubunto back in
yesterday. So I am not sure what I am supposed to do. I no longer have
Windows, which they had gotten in past my Kaspersky antivirus. So not
sure where to go from here to make sure they have not changed my system
and are not on my computer anymore. I went somewhere else and downloaded
a new ubuntu at ubuntu.com and put this new cd in to put Ubuntu in again
this time, which is what I did.

[Bug 600219] Re: faxgetty segfault

2011-04-18 Thread Nancy Saia
Did we ever find a solution to this? Running 10.04.2 LTS. Would greatly
appreciate a patch.

In the mean time, could anyone provide a script that watches the logs
for faxgetty to crash and restarts hylafax or faxgetty when this
happens? I am not much of a wizard.

Note that I got rhythmbox to run when I removed rhyrhmbox-plugins but I
can't really use it without the plugins. It is not a viable workaround.

I also can confirm. I removed rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store and I
still got a seg fault until I removed rhythmbox-plugins. Now it runs.

FYI - the errors I was getting before I removed above:

I checked the duplicate bug threads. I tried the irqbalance fixes that
were suggested (changing the .conf file and finally purging irqbalance)
and they did not work. I am still getting freezes.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 528720 ***

I, too, am having this problem. I can use the computer for hours and
then it will lock up and I have to hard reboot. It seems to lockup
consistently when I am on the internet. I don't remember any crashes
when I was not on the internet. I thought it might be Chrome, but the
same thing happens with Firefox.

I will be difficult to get you all of my hardware info as I can never be
on the internet long on that machine. I can try to route the info
output to another computer on the network if you think you need it.

>From memory I can tell you that I am using 10.04 with an Asus 64-bit 4
core and Nvidia 9600 GT with their latest downloaded driver (256.35?).
I did a clean install of the video drivers. I took Compiz off. I
reconfigured xorg.

I searched through logs for errors and did not come up with much.

There is a line in dmesg that might point to something:
"nvidia: module licence 'NVIDIA' taints kernel

I also found this line in log.smbd
/lib/interface.c:527(load_interface)
ERROR: Could not determine network interfaces config line

[Bug 584438] [NEW] (Scim) Input support requires irrelevant packages

2010-05-22 Thread Nancy Pelosi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Going to System, Administration, Language support and checking the input
methods option (press Install/Remove languages to access menu) for at
least east asian languages will force annoying and irrelevant packages
to be installed in Lucid (10.04).

It suddenly wants to install:
gimp-help-common
gimp-help-en
gnome-user-guide-en

I already had gimp installed and it was happy the way it was without
this crap.

I don't have room for these useless packages and I really don't have
bandwidth to be downloading them on my dialup-like Clearwire connection.
This is not an isolated problem. There are a lot of nonsensical
dependencies for packages in ubuntu, but this one is pretty outstanding
as language input has nothing to do with the above files.

[Bug 484426] [NEW] package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-1ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127

2009-11-17 Thread Nancy Poekert
Public bug reported:

This failed to update because I stupidly deleted the folder
/etc/init.d/mysql. Now apt-get remove, purge and install all fail
because the files are not there. I wanted to purge mysql-server and
reinstall it from scratch. Now I really can't do anything because I
don't have the files that I deleted.

BTW - The reason I wanted to purge mysql in the first place is because I
couldn't get it to work because of a lot of privilege related problems
so I decided to start from scratch using the mysql 5.1 reference manual.
There are a lot of people with these issues. It would be great if they
could be automatically resolved during installation.
