[Bug 1471365] [NEW] Shutdown/Restart of Live Guest after install freezes in VirtualBox
Public bug reported: When you attempt Shutdown/Restart of the Live Guest after install, Ubuntu freezes in VirtualBox. What should be happening is that the "Remove Installation Media and Press Enter" message should come up and pressing enter should halt the virtual machine. This was already reported for the 15.04 release cycle, as per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/1447038, but is still occurring as of Wily (15.10) Daily build for July 3rd, 2015. I figured it would be best to report this again and have it marked as duplicate of the aforementioned bug than to not. Seeing as that other bug was filed against casper, as opposed to ubiquity, I may have filed it incorrectly. However, ubiquity was the package that the Ubuntu Quality Team instructions for reporting bugs states I should report under. This bug occurs during shutdown, so I can't get the /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman files prior to a reboot. So, I have attached /var/log/installer/syslog and /var/log/installer/partman instead, as well as /var/log/installer/casper.log. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu Wily Werewolf (development branch) Release:15.10 ubiquity: Installed: (none) Candidate: 2.21.27 Version table: 2.21.27 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily/main amd64 Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: ubiquity (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.19.0-22.22-generic 3.19.8-ckt1 Uname: Linux 3.19.0-22-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.17.3-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Fri Jul 3 22:43:59 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-07-04 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Alpha amd64 (20150703) SourcePackage: ubiquity UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug wily -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1471365 Title: Shutdown/Restart of Live Guest after install freezes in VirtualBox To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1471365/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1468426] [NEW] Play Queue greys out songs and plays in random order and gets "stuck" on song(s) randomly.
Public bug reported: If I put a bunch of songs in the Play Queue, they seem to be randomly greyed out, even before they've been played. You can see that here: http://imgur.com/OLVT4Xf. Only the Beaming and Experimental Track songs have actually been played, with Pixel Party, Coyote, and breach breach breach greyed out prior to being played. Now, I'm guessing that this is Banshee "shuffling" the queue, but it seems to ignore certain songs and never play them. If this is by design, I think it should be changed to where if shuffling is turned on, it will visually change the order of the songs and only grey out the already played ones. Another seemingly side-affect of this is that if you have a bunch of songs in the queue and listen to an album through the last song in the queue from that album, it will jump to some random spot in the queue, removing & greying out a whole bunch of songs in front of it, even when shuffle is turned off via Playback > Shuffle > Shuffle Off. As for getting stuck on songs, it's hard to re-produce because it seems to happen on a totally random basis. One way that you can get it happen some of the time is to add a bunch of tracks and then let them play for a bit or skip and it might start repeating 1-4 songs. What I'm expecting should happen is that it will just continue to play down the queue, and since Shuffling is turned off, it will play the songs in the order I added them until the queue is empty, deleting them from the queue as they are played. Sorry if this is bug report is confusing/lacking, I'm perplexed by the bug and its seeming randomness and really don't know how better to describe/reproduce it :( $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Release:14.0 $ apt-cache policy banshee banshee: Installed: 2.9.0+really2.6.2-2ubuntu2.1 Candidate: 2.9.0+really2.6.2-2ubuntu2.1 Version table: *** 2.9.0+really2.6.2-2ubuntu2.1 0 500 http://mirror.thelinuxfix.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.9.0+really2.6.2-2ubuntu2 0 500 http://mirror.thelinuxfix.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages ** Affects: banshee (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1468426 Title: Play Queue greys out songs and plays in random order and gets "stuck" on song(s) randomly. [Bug 269904] Re: Screen refresh problems with nvidia cards
Same here on Ubuntu 14.04.1 (AMD64) running Compiz 0.9.11.3 & using the nvidia-340 drivers (from xorg-edgers) for my GTX 750Ti - definitely been a recent update that caused this, I wasn't having issue prior to the recent kernel upgrade that I ran ~3-4 days ago. As a side-note about that upgrade, I had to run it as sudo apt-get dist- upgrade. That might be the root of these evils, perhaps the kernel upgrade broke NVIDIA's drivers a bit? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/269904 Title: Screen refresh problems with nvidia cards To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/269904/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1402676] [NEW] Installing Ubuntu 14.04.1 on a brand new self-built system installer crashes after failing to install GRUB to /target/
Public bug reported: I recently built a desktop from scratch for the first time. Part-list is available here: pcpartpicker.com/user/RPiAwesomeness/saved/q3Mypg I downloaded the Ubuntu 14.04.1 AMD64 ISO and put it on a 4GB USB stick using unetbootin on my current system, and Ubuntu 14.10 laptop. I then booted up the LiveUSB and selected "Try Ubuntu before Installing". From there, I opened up the installer and proceeded through all of the steps, up until the point where it says that it is installing GRUB. After that, it gave me this error message: http://i.stack.imgur.com/Lahbp.png and then this one: http://i.stack.imgur.com/35x5a.png The installer and that second window both freeze and neither of the close buttons on the second window worked, I had to quit it via the Unity dash (right-click, Quit). This launched apport and brought me here. This has happened two times in a row now, so I'm not sure if it's the ISO or a server-side issue or something with my system.
