[Bug 1288747] Re: [334] Parts of the UI randomly flicker when moving the mouse
Christopher, I updated compiz with your newest packages and just experienced another system freeze. I'm running Trusty with Nvidia 337.25 on a laptop with a GT 425M. [Bug 1288747] Re: [334] Parts of the UI randomly flicker when moving the mouse
I've found that enabling force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on repaint in the workaround plugin in CCSM eliminates the issue for me. Works on 14.04 with 337.12 and older 334 drivers. Despite the tooltip saying that it will cause a massive increase in cpu and gpu usage, there is no noticable increase on my system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1288747 Title: [334] Parts of the UI randomly flicker when moving the mouse To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1288747/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1288747] Re: [334] Parts of the UI randomly flicker when moving the mouse
I'm adding myself as affected, bug #269904 sounds similar to what I'm seeing but I've never experienced any problems till 334.16 and 334.21. I notice it the most with Firefox but thats probably because 90% of the time thats whats I'm using. Pages don't redraw completely and the boxes around the bookmark toolbar buttons seems to stick as I mouse over them. Downgrading the driver to any previous version solves the issue. [Bug 873541] Re: misaligned close, minimize and maximize
I just had to say that I agree the current design looks a bit strange. However one thing I do like is being able to throw the mouse up in the corner to hit the close button on maximized apps. If that was changed I think you'd hear about it from alot of users. I still think the design in Natty was the best looking though, with the BFB on the panel and the window buttons always visible but at the cost of this functionality. Ultimately though I'd like to see window buttons and frames eliminated completely and all tasks related to windows done via window previews or popups that are revealed by hovering the mouse over the icon in the launcher similar to dockbarx. Call me crazy but it just might work. As far as the dash goes I'm always asking myself why it has window buttons to begin with? The Dash is not really a window but an overlay anyway, you cant drag it around, it is fused to the panel and launcher, it doesn't have an unfocused state because its always on top, it doesn't have any global menu entries or even a title in the panel. So basically its the farthest thing away from a window in the whole system and yet it has window buttons and one of them doesn't even do anything! What was wrong with the little resize icon that used to be in the corner? Yes, I have always read that you should purge the driver first before installing a newer version. Sure, look here http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Oneiric_Installation_Guide. Then follow the instructions for removing catalyst/fglrx, its about halfway down the page. After that, goto the top of the page to the section called Installing Catalyst Manually (from AMD/ATI's site) and follow the directions there.
