I have the same problem running Ubuntu 10.04 on my lap top only. JVM crashes all the time. It is not only related to Eclipse. It crashes when I run grails app, or tomcat , or anything that runs in JVM. Now, the weird thing is that I have the same java, eclipse, grails, ubuntu, tomcat on my desktop. So the software part is identical and everything works fine. No JVM crashes at all! I read someowere that bad hardware can cause JVM to crash. Is this true?
