[Bug 1451233] Re: 10ec:b723 [Lenovo B5400] Realtek RTL8723BE drops connection until reboot

2017-03-05 Thread Nemo_bis
Recent updates had a mixed effect: with Linux 4.9.11-200.fc25, the
network manager sees more/all wifi networks and connects to them but
then drops quickly.

There seem to be 64 reports about RTL8723BE already:
https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new/issues?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=RTL8723BE

I'll just return the product and let HP sort it out if they want.

[Bug 1023063] [NEW] ubuntu-syncdaemon produces "disk wait CPU" death and filesystem crash

2012-07-10 Thread Nemo_bis
Public bug reported:

In the last few days, soon after reboot ubuntu-syncdaemon, if not killed
immediately, soon keeps the disk so busy that all the CPU goes to "wait CPU"
and the system basically dies; after a while, the filesystem is made read-only
(due to errors created by the hectic situation, I suppose), which is sometimes
fixed by the disk checks on reboot and sometimes not (needing some fsck work).
I'm quite sure that ubuntu-syncdaemon is to blame because 1) if I disable sync
the situation never reappears, 2) if I kill it immediately after reboot or when
CPU wait begins to peak the system doesn't "crash", 3) if I don't do (1) nor
(2) it's consistently reproduced.
It's not possible to run apport when the FS is read-only nor when the CPU is
basically unavailable, hence what attached is taken before the actual problem
begins.

[Bug 466575] Re: secure remove of external USB-HDD produces error

2010-02-07 Thread Nemo_bis
Sorry, there's another possible error instead of the last one:

«Method "DriveDetach" with signature "as" on interface
"org.freedesktop.DeviceKit.Disks.Device" doesn't exist»

Ah, and removal requires ~55 s (quite long...).

[Bug 466575] Re: secure remove of external USB-HDD produces error

2010-02-07 Thread Nemo_bis
Instead of "Device is not a drive" (in the second procedure) now I've
had:

«Error detaching: helper exited with exit code 1: Cannot open /dev/sdb:
No such device or address»

[Bug 466575] Re: secure remove of external USB-HDD produces error

2010-02-07 Thread Nemo_bis
I have the same problem with an MP3 player, which has a "RockChip
USBDISK User: 8,2 GB File system" and adds also a "RockChip USBDISK
SD" to the "Computer" screen of Nautilus (memory can be expanded with a
microSD, and this "card reader" is detected, I suppose).

If I "Safely Remove" it, it's unmounted (at least, Nautilis gives me the
"Mount" option) but the device doesn't confirm the correct removal, and
after some time thhis error is displayed:

«Error detaching: helper exited with exit code 1: synchronize cache(10):
transport: Host_status=0x05 [DID_ABORT]
Driver_status=0x00 [DRIVER_OK, SUGGEST_OK]

Error SYNCHRONIZE CACHE for /dev/sdb: Success
start stop unit: pass through os error: No such device
Error STOP UNIT for /dev/sdb: No such device»

I press "OK" and the device confirms the correct removal.
"Eject", "Unmount" or "sudo eject" give no error, but have no effect, except
that as above the device is unmounted (at least, Nautilis gives me the "Mount"
option).

If I "Safely Remove" "RockChip USBDISKSD" and then "RockChip USBDISK
User: 8,2 GB File system", I receive two errors:

«"Impossibile fermare l'unità" [Italian for "It's impossible to stop the drive"]
Device is not a drive»

«"Impossibile fermare l'unità"
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply.
Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the
message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or
the network connection was broken.»

And then the device confirms the correct removal.

Looks like it's a Tab Mix Plus issue:
