about running the OPENVPN via command-line
it is possible to have the option of using a file with the USERNAME & PASSWORD
for the OPENVPN stored in a safe location (if you believe that!)
you can add the following into the config:
auth-user-pass {fullpath to file with USERNAME & PASSWORD}
this file should only contain 2 line: the first with the USERNAME & the 2nd
with the PASSWORD

Really OpenVPN is not a high enough priority for Canonical to have it fixed in over 2 years ?! I thought Ubuntu was supposed to be a replacement OS for businesses ... anyhow, it is possible to run the configurations using the command line. It is a joke to explain to users of other 'OSes' that Ubuntu does not have a GUI that works with OPENVPN. Public bug reported: hi, i have tried using TuxOnIce on the Beta version of Ubuntu 12.04 but installation failed - i have an encrypted swap partition. when prompted with the error message, i have uninstalled the package. all of this package management was done with synaptic *BUT* when rebooting the laptop - it fails to boot. giving the following error message: could not stat the resume device file '/dev/dm-0' fair enough that TuxOnIce is not yet working correctly with this version of ubuntu - but it should be a minimun requirement to have it uninstalling correctly. it seems to be the Software Center (SC) that triggers this behavior.
i have run the following snipet multiple times - checking to see if it was
related to size of files would cause it.
for i in {1..100} ; do dd if=/dev/urandom of=file_n_$i.dd bs=${i}M count=1 ;
done
nothing happens
but following Richard Perdal's comment, i left the above snipet running
and opened SC - and the errors started again.
my installation is 11.10 amd64 using Intel i5 with nvidia gpu
my partitions:
root is btrfs
home is EXT4
would like me to gather further info?

find /home/.ecryptfs/$USER/.Private/ -size 0c -exec ls '{}' \; | wc -l
could you also confirm that removing the zero size files from the encryption
folder has solved this problem?

i also noticed that my $HOME/.ecryptfs is corrupted.
but i am able to access all my files still.
so what is the next option here? delete all these (as they are empty anyhow.
how should i proceed.
i suppose we should try to fix the BUG of no alert when running out of
space here

hi, i am happy to say that syspend works, almost always fine. As every so often there is a message on ubuntu desktop saying that there was a problem while suspending. but it suspends and resumes fine. i am using the proprietary NVidia driver from ubuntu repository. however, hibernate does not show any sign of improvement. it either closes the X server and then returns to the login screen, or turns off (as if hibernating) but never resumes when powered on. i do not have my machine at the moment, but i will post any logs, and X configuration by tomorrow. thanks for looking into it.
