[Bug 335770] Re: the restart demand keeps coming on the screen as soon as i restart it
Hello ! I had the same problem with the 3.0.7 Security Update on Ubuntu 64 bits. You can try to change, in the settings->General, the option "Display my last used tabs" to "Display my home page". It fixed the bug for me... Ok, as far as I am concerned, I realized that this bug is a duplicate from this one : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/transmission/+bug/270717 (you can see the call to curl_multi_perform in my Valgrind report). [Bug 279890] Re: Transmission crashes: "corrupted double-linked list"
Greetings, I also get this error from time to time (Intrepid x64). It occurs when several torrent are loaded in Transmission (~ five torrents). I was thinking that it only happened when downloaded but today I just got it when uploading (all torrents finished). See the enclosed file for the full error, extracted from xsession- errors. I will try to run Transmission through Valgrind for more info. Øyvind, I have exactly the same problem with my Asus Xonar D1 (lspci = 06:01.0 Multimedia audio controller: C-Media Electronics Inc CMI8788 [Oxygen HD Audio]). If I select "Xonar D1 (Alsa Mixer)" in the default mixer track of gnome- sound-properties, any sound volume is going mad (sliders jumping randomly, ...). [Bug 242801] Re: Firefox 3.0 is in english after upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy
Hello, I experienced the same issue during the passage from Firefox 3.0 to Firefox 3.0.1 : all the menus were in english. I solved the problem by reinstalling 'language-support-fr'. By the way, the packages 'mozilla-firefox-locales-XX' should really depend on Firefox 2, not only on 'language-support-XX' : they are incompatible with Firefox 3, and this is misleading because it's still possible to install them having only Firefox 3. [Bug 232443] Re: Let the user choose between ntfs-3g and ntfs kernel driver
Thanks you very much Szaka for these insightful remarks. In light of these arguments, I think that use of ntfs-3g by default in ubuntu for ntfs mounts is well deserved ! [Bug 232443] Re: Let the user choose between ntfs-3g and ntfs kernel driver
Thanks for you quick reply Szaka ! Maybe I'm going to give you a wrong answer, but I've always found that ntfs-3g is more cpu-consuming than the kernel driver (not considering only the write operations, I also find the directory listings sluggish). And I've always thought this difference occurs because of the kernel mode/userspace difference. However, with the appearance of more and more fuse-based FS, I imagine it's not the case anymore ? You implied in your message that you can have data corruption using the kernel driver. Could you please detail ? Is this the case even in 'ro' mode ? [Bug 232443] [NEW] Let the user choose between ntfs-3g and ntfs kernel driver
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ntfs-3g Hello ! ok, I could be wrong with this one, but I'll still try to explain : If you install the ntfs-3g package, ntfs-3g will be used for EVERY ntfs mount. Indeed, this package install several symlinks : /sbin/mount.ntfs -> /sbin/mount.ntfs-3g /sbin/mount.ntfs-3g -> . The issue is with the first symlink : even if the fstab contains entries with the "ntfs" fs type (NOT ntfs-3g), mount will use the mount.ntfs command, and thus the ntfs-3g driver. So if someone want to use only the readonly ntfs kernel driver, and from to time to time, the ntfs-3g driver (e.g. for external HD), he can't : These symlinks force him to use the ntfs-3g driver for every ntfs mount !!! As far as I'm concerned, there are two solutions : * remove the /sbin/mount.ntfs symlink, but this goes against the policy of "ntfs-3g by default" for everyday users * change the /sbin/mount.ntfs to be a small script so it can read an option file (e.g. /etc/default/ntfs), containing a line : DEFAULT_NTFS_DRIVER=ntfs-3g or DEFAULT_NTFS_DRIVER=ntfs. Thus we should be able to control the default driver. Please tell me you thoughts, or correct me :) Regards N. ** Affects: ntfs-3g (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Let the user choose between ntfs-3g and ntfs kernel driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/232443 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 107465] Re: nvidia support in sensors-applet
The contributor describes his patch to sensor-applet here : http://svpe.blogspot.com/2006/04/adding-support-for-sensors-of-my.html His code is based on the NVCtrl library, provided by nvidia-settings. Unfortunately, in feisty, there are two ways of getting nvidia-settings : * nvidia-glx or nvidia-glx-new : in this case, the nvidia-setting is included but it doesn't provided the library nor the headers. * nvidia-glx-legacy : in this case, you should also use the nvidia-settings package which provides the library !!! (usr/lib/libXNVCtrl.a). Why does the nvidia-settings included in the nvidia-glx or nvidia-glx- new packages doesn't provide this library anymore ?
