[Bug 1544904] Re: Updating 15.10 to 16.04 alpha2 failed: subprocess exit status 127

2016-03-19 Thread Nicolas Riesco
Hadmut Danisch, I think you're right. I've checked Apttermlog.txt in
#1509816 more carefully, and it seems to be caused by a circular
dependency:

systemd-sysv < systemd < libcryptsetup4 < libdevmapper1.02.1:amd64 <

[Bug 1248260] Re: ibus-daemon hogging resources

2013-11-22 Thread Nicolas Riesco
I believe this is a configuration problem resulting from a problematic
upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10, because:
* only one of my computers is affected by this bug.
* the affected computer had three languages installed: English, Spanish
and Polish. Although, after the problematic upgrade, the language
indicator was still showing all the three languages as options, Spanish
and Polish were missing in the System Settings.

I have solved this problem in my desktop by installing the Spanish and
Polish language packages again:
1) System Settings  Language Support
2) Language  Install/Remove Languages
3) Tick all the languages listed in the language indicator

[Bug 1244540] Re: Upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 hangs due to tex-common

2013-10-28 Thread Nicolas Riesco
I completed the upgrade by running:
$ sudo dpkg --configure -a

I have also rebooted the machine and thus I don't have access to
/tmp/updmap.HCHp4AWP any longer.

I have checked the folder /etc/texmf/updmap.d/ and now it only contains one
file:
$ ls /etc/texmf/updmap.d/
10lmodern.cfg

[Bug 1244540] [NEW] Upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 hangs

2013-10-25 Thread Nicolas Riesco
Public bug reported:

The upgrade process stalls after the following message on the terminal:

Unpacking replacement ubuntu-artwork

Previously, it had complained about missing texlive-common.

I've also noticed the software-manager is running and showing some
updates. After clicking on Install Now, the software-manager also
hangs.

[Bug 996450] Re: package snort 2.9.2-3ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10

2012-05-08 Thread Nicolas Riesco
I've tracked down the point where the post-installation fails.

It fails in the script /var/lib/dpkg/info/snort.config when line 16
db_get snort/reverse_order is run.

To workaorund this failure I have removed the following lines from
script /var/lib/dpkg/info/snort.config:

db_get snort/reverse_order
if [ x$RET = xyes ]; then
# Remove the -o option which was introduced by Debconf
# (snort/reverse_order) in versions previous to 2.8.5.2-2
DEBIAN_SNORT_OPTIONS=`echo $DEBIAN_SNORT_OPTIONS | sed -e 's/
-o$//'`
fi

I believe this bug is related to the following change:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/oneiric/snort/oneiric/revision/24

I hope this helps.

Hi again!

I haven't installed Intrepid but I've downloaded package the kate

Re: [Bug 217654] Re: nautilus won't launch KDE apps

2008-04-17 Thread Nicolas Riesco
As suggested by Sebastien Bacher, I tried in the terminal:

 cd /usr/share/applications/kde

 for x in $(grep -xl ^Path= *.desktop) ; do sudo sed -i
's/^Path=/#Path=/' $x ; done

Then I logged out and back in, and the bug was gone.

Thanks Sebastien.

[Bug 217654] [NEW] nautilus won't launch KDE apps

2008-04-15 Thread Nicolas Riesco
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
Release:8.04

$ apt-cache policy nautilus
nautilus:
  Installed: 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu3

  Version table:

100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

After upgrading to Hardy, I've noticed that I can't launch some KDE
applications (kate, kwrite, khexedit),
either by double-clicking on a file associated to any of these apps, or by
using Open with in the context
menu.

As a workaround to launch Kate, I have set up through the context menu Open
with
 Open with other application... Use a custom command to launch
/usr/bin/kate -u.

 Hello,

 I also confirm this bug. I could not fix it. I tried the the fix
 described by Nicolas Riesco but this is a temporary fix for me. I could
 not find how to disable the notifications that pops up when Gaim is
 started. Could you guid me to doing this, please?

 What I do now is to click on the yellow notification at the begining so
 it pop out and stops extending the window. After that I can (sometimes)
 resize back the window.

Once you have done this, you need to go to 'Account Add/Edit' and
modify every account that has enabled the 'New mail notifications'
option, that is, you click on one of your accounts and then the button
'Modify', a window will pop up and under 'User Options' you should
untick 'New mail notifications'. You need do this for every account
that has this option enabled.

If this explanation is not enough, contact me directly on my email.

[Bug 108468] Re: buddy windows is wide three to four times the desktop and impossible to resize

2007-04-24 Thread Nicolas Riesco
Here it happened the same.

In my case, I discovered this bug was triggered by my MSN account
having enabled the option New mail notifications.

As a workaround, I just disabled it. This solved half of the problem,
because I couldn't change the window width using the mouse. To restore
the window width I had to edit the file ~/.gaim/prefs.xml and change
the width in the following section:
pref name='blist'
pref name='show_buddy_icons' type='bool'
value='1'/
pref name='show_empty_groups' type='bool'
value='0'/
pref name='show_idle_time' type='bool'
value='1'/
pref name='show_offline_buddies' type='bool'
value='0'/
pref name='list_visible' type='bool'
value='1'/
pref name='list_maximized' type='bool'
value='0'/
pref name='sort_type' type='string'
value='alphabetical'/
pref name='x' type='int' value='40'/
pref name='y' type='int' value='76'/
pref name='width' type='int' value='1466'/
pref name='height' type='int' value='551'/
pref name='tooltip_delay' type='int'
value='500'/
/pref

to something more sensible:
pref name='width' type='int' value='466'/

Hope this is helpful.

[Bug 68710] Swap partition enabled twice

2006-10-27 Thread Nicolas Riesco
Public bug reported:

Somehow, after upgrading from Dapper to Edgy, my laptop started to
report double the previous swap memory. At the same time, I noticed that
under certain circumstances the laptop became very slow and some
applications got stalled. For instance, when running synaptic, sometimes
complained it has failed when forking due to a lack of memory.

The problem disappears if I disable and then enable the swap partition:

$ sudo swapon -s
Password:
FilenameTypeSizeUsedPriority
/dev/hda2   partition   979956  0   -1
/dev/mapper/hda2partition   979956  0   -2

$ sudo swapoff -a

$ sudo swapon -a

$ sudo swapon -s
FilenameTypeSizeUsedPriority
/dev/mapper/hda2partition   979956  0   -3

The problem seems to be related to the use of UUID in /etc/fstab. If I
replace the line:

UUID=2f7932b2-2272-41a5-a421-427d88fa852b none swap sw 0 0

with:

/dev/hda2   noneswapsw  0   0

after rebooting, the laptop reports the right swap size:

$ sudo swapon -s
Password:
FilenameTypeSizeUsedPriority
/dev/hda2   partition   979956  128560  -1

Hope this is helpful,

Nico
