[Bug 421225] Re: Xorg freeze

2009-10-13 Thread NinjaKirk
I confirm this bug on daily live amd64 20091215 (yesterday). My
computer froze upon booting live as well as selecting the option to
install at the boot menu. I also selected both options in safe graphics
mode. Same issue occurred (blank screen with a few flickers). Just for
good measure, I tried to install in virtual box. I ran into same issue
only the screen would flash in a loop. I tried to screen print one
particular screen, but I was unable to move windows out of the way to
capture what message was being displayed. I'll attach it just in case.

The following is some of my hardware specs:
Asus P5QC, Intel Core 2 Duo, Nvidia GeForce 8500 GS
Currently dual-booting with Jaunty and W7

Certainly will try. Unfortunately, the specs for this MaxStation laptop are
no longer available.

Well, you may have found a link, but I am experiencing this problem on a
laptop that I know isn't advanced enough to include an nvidia card in its
stock components.

Since this seems to be not changing at anytime, can anyone give me a brief
instruction on how to rollback to a more stable version?
Thanks!

This happens to me, too. Rendering Open Office effectively useless for a

 Steps to reproduce bug:
 Open a *.doc file.
 Click: Format -- Paragraph.
 Wait forever.
 Force Quit.
 Try again.
 Install AbiWord as a workaround.

 Using: Openoffice.org-core 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5, Mon Oct 15
 Ubuntu 7.10

Just want to let you all know that I am no longer experiencing the bug. I
ran through adept, and it didn't show any distribution upgrade options.
Yay! Thanks to whoever fixed this problem.

After updating and restarting Adept yesterday, I no longer receive the
version upgrade. I did receive the message directly after updating, but
after I restarted Adept the Version Upgrade button is now inactive.

Re: [Bug 153889] Re: feisty dist upgrade check does not work

2007-10-26 Thread NinjaKirk
I think the key is make sure that adept has downloaded the latest updates.
Then, restart your system. Adept should no longer have the upgrade issue.
One of the latest updates seems to have fixed it.

Adept Manager asks me to update some adepts packages and after that it
says a new upgrade version is available. (in fact it means 7.10)
This has happened twice in this week.

(I also got a screen shot of adept, I don't know whether it is needed.)

2007-10-23 Thread NinjaKirk
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 153889 ***

I too am experiencing the same exact issue; however, I don't seem to have
the problem when I upgraded my Ubuntu in the Gnome environment, using the
update tool. This problem only surfaced when I changed sessions to KDE and
clicked on the upgrade icon. That icon opened up adept. I followed the
steps assuming that perhaps there was some sort of new upgrade that KDE
needed, and that's when I ran into the error.
Hope sheds some light on the problem!

Re: [Bug 131973] Re: desktop random freezes in feisty

2007-10-19 Thread NinjaKirk
You may be onto something there. I have not had any crashes in Gutsy since
I initiated the restricted drivers. Interestingly enough, I was using
restricted drivers with 7.04, and that was still giving me freeze issues.
It wasn't until I made changes suggested by |V|isterX in the Ubuntu forums
that I was able to stabilize my system. I am sure you have looked there
already, but that string can be found by searching Feisty Fawn Freezes.
It appears as though some of these issues have been worked on in Ubuntu
latest 7.10. Good luck to everything...hope the restricted drivers work
well for you.
Sincerely,

NinjaKirk (formerly semijoyful)

I'm still having these problems after upgrading to Gutsy.

 I have a Pentium D 830 with an ATI radeon X600 (RV380). I was using the
open source radeon DRI drivers with aiglx to run compiz-fusion.
Yesterday I decided to try switching back to the restricted ATI driver
and xgl. Haven't had a crash since. So the radeon driver or aiglx
might be part of the puzzle.

[Bug 154437] Open Office 2.3 Writer crashes whenever I click on the paragraph feature

2007-10-19 Thread NinjaKirk
Public bug reported:

In the Writer environment whenever I want to change paragraph options under the
format menu, I click on that option and Open Office 2.3 Writer immediately
crashes. I have tried the feature both on a document I had created and also on
a blank document. Currently I am having to email myself, make corrections in
gmail documents and then printing from there. Any ideas of what is going on?
I am running Ubuntu 7.10 on a MaxStation Laptop. I'm surprised no one else has
reported this yet.
Thanks!
