[Bug 1316092] [NEW] When the launcher is hidden, tearing occurs when scrolling/switching contents inside one window
Public bug reported: When launcher is hidden, scrolling or switching in the maximized window tears along the vertical line, where the launcher would've ended if it was shown (i.e. (48, 0) - (48, screen height) if the launcher is 48px wide). The easiest way to see is opening two tabs with black and white backgrounds correspondingly and constantly switching between them. I am not certain, but it looks like redrawing the part under the hidden launcher is sometimes delayed for one frame. Neither fullscreen windows nor switching between windows exhibit the problem. Public bug reported: I understand a similar bug was fixed a week or two ago involving the login screen, whereby the dots pattern did not line up properly with the new default wallpaper. They also go through the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS logo in the bottom left rather than around it, and the central dot on the screen is slightly below the central point of the default wallpaper, as opposed to rows above and below the centre as in the login screen. [Bug 479226] Re: Cannot authenticate using PolicyKit dialogs with domain credentials, prompts for local user
This bug affects me, too (with Likewise Open 6, however). My workaround is a two-pronged approach. Let's assume that you want the Domain Users group to have both sudo and administrative rights on the local machine. (Usually, it's only Domain Admins or another group, but we have a special configuration where I am.) First, I added the Domain Users group to the sudoers file (accessed by typing sudo visudo on an account that already has sudoer rights, or by running visudo simply as root). I then added the following line on the section with the header Members of the admin group: %domain^users ALL=(ALL) ALL Please note that depending on your setup, you may have to add the domain explicitly: %DOMAIN\\domain^users ALL=(ALL) ALL So now all people in the Domain Users group have sudo access! They can type sudo command in any command prompt and it should work fine. BUT, if your users use the GUI, we still have the problem that any Policy Kit dialog boxes that pop up do not recognize this authority and demand you log in as root or as a local administrator. So, following David Norris' suggestion, I navigated to /etc/polkit-1/localauthority.conf.d/ and added a new file called 52 -likewise-admin.conf. The 52 is just because there were already files in there that started with 50 and 51, and I know that the configuration files get loaded in order based on their number. So the 52 is arbitrary. The file contents are as follows: [Configuration] AdminIdentities=unix-group:domain^users AS BEFORE, you may need to explicitly state your domain, as follows: [Configuration] AdminIdentities=unix-group:DOMAIN\\domain^users Of course, change domain^users to domain^admins or other groups as necessary. Re: [Bug 1257058] Re: low graphics mode boot error
Thanks for the info- I thought the unpopulated list was a bug because the procedure you describe is not that self evident. I have never seen an unpopulated dropdown list that fills in after you type something into it. Someone else classified this as medium priority, but it has a lot of people confused and in danger of being locked out of their systems. I am also seeing this behavior. It is causing significant problems for us, unfortunately. HOWEVER, it only seems to happen on pages with Windows authentication dialog boxes under HTTPS. Created attachment 8337301 fix bucket groups to be based off of a calendar week concept Attached is a first attempt patch to address this bug. It aligns the buckets yesterday to week boundaries, and adds a lastWeek bucket. I need information on where to get the beginning of calendar week localization runtime information Also, I did the English localization, but none of the others. I would need help with that. Unless I enable hibernation, when power drops critically low Ubuntu offers only one option: sudden death. And I don't find that out until after installation. [Bug 1245096] [NEW] usx2yloader fails - wrong path to firmware
Public bug reported: I'm having trouble with a tascam US-122. In raring, it worked fine, but on upgrading to saucy, I ran into problems. First of all, the firmware is no longer available, since medibuntu no longer exists. I installed the package from alsa-project.org manually though, and made a symlink from /usr/local/share/alsa/firmware/ to /usr/share/alsa/firmware/, since that's where the old package installed the files. Then when I plug the device in, it seems to load the initial firmware just fine - the syslog shows that it detected the 2nd device and ran the tascam_fpga script. However, the usx2yloader program fails. When I run it manually, (usx2yloader -c 1) I get the following error message: usx2yloader: cannot open the index file /lib/firmware/usx2yloader/us122.conf Of course, that's not where the us122.conf file is located, but that path seems hardcoded in usx2yloader. When I made a symlink from sudo ln -s /usr/local/share/alsa/firmware/usx2yloader/ to /lib/firmware/, it seems to load the firmware just fine. I think the issue is with the path hardcoded into the utility. it should be changed to /usr/local/share/alsa/firmware/usx2yloader/us122.conf, since that's where the old package expected the file to be. ** Affects: alsa-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1245096 Title: usx2yloader fails - wrong path to firmware To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-tools/+bug/1245096/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1203847] [NEW] thunderbird process does not end on exiting the application
Public bug reported: When closing thunderbird, the process does not stop. As a result, when I next attempt to start the process, I have to do manually kill the process in order to reopen thunderbird. Although this installation was 8 days ago, that was a fresh installation. Since then, I also wiped my .thunderbird folder. Current Add-ons I have installed are: Autoarchive 0.2.2* EDS Contact Integration 0.5 Enigmail 1.4.6** ExQuilla for Microsoft Exchange 21.0* Global Menu Bar integration 3.6.4 Messaging Menu and Unity Launcher integration 1.3.1 (More detailed info in Extensions.txt, attached). Plugins: DivX (R) Web Player 1.4.0.233 iTunes Application Detector QuickTiem Plug-in 7.6.6 Shockwave Flash 11,2,202,297 VLC Multimedia Plugin (compatible Videos 3.6.3) Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (compatible; Videos) Before you ask, I didn't install most of this. The only add-ons I have installed personally, that were not already there are labelled with an asterix. **Installed from Ubuntu repository, NOT Mozilla. Of course, the bug may well be in an add-on, but similar problems seem to have been reported in the past regarding other add-ons, but as they are separate, I would suspect a bug within thunderbird itself. using: Thunderbird 17.0.7 Ubuntu 13.04 (amd64) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: thunderbird 17.0.7+build1-0ubuntu0.13.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-26.38-generic 3.8.13.2 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-26-generic x86_64 AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8.3 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: john 1970 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: john 1970 F pulseaudio BuildID: 20130623220824 Channel: Unavailable CurrentDmesg: [ 535.373066] systemd-hostnamed[2989]: Warning: nss-myhostname is not installed. [Bug 1177394] Re: USB sequence errors in snd_usb_usx2y
I think that the 3.03 package is actually a utility for setting up the bios of multiple laptops at once. It doesn't appear to have an actual bios in it. From the readme: WHAT THIS PACKAGE DOES ThinkPad stores various BIOS settings in its non-volatile memory. These settings are configured by using the ThinkPad setup menu. In general, this is done manually by the user. However, from a deployment point of view, the BIOS settings are expected to be common to all machines and to be controlled remotely. This program is the Windows based of ThinkPad Setup Settings Capture/Playback Utility (SRCMOS.EXE or SRSETUP.EXE). Features: - Copy ThinkPad setup data settings - Copy ThinkPad secure data settings - Install and update for power-on password - Install for hard disk password I think BIOS 2.19 (which I have) is the most recent version. Please nuke it from saucy, just to be sure. ** Affects: juju (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1190634 Title: Remove Juju .7 from Saucy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juju/+bug/1190634/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 970200] Re: QT apps won't work - QT_IM_MODULE=xim
I did have ibus-qt4 installed. The problem was that the /etc/X11/xinput.d/ibus script would explicitly set the QT variable to xim because of an error in the path to the library. In any case, this was fixed in natty, and in raring, that script seems to have been replaced with /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70im-config_launch, which also sets the variables properly. This bug can be closed, I think. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/970200 Title: QT apps won't work - QT_IM_MODULE=xim To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/970200/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1015183]
Thanks for all your work on this. At OLPC we've been testing the branch but have been a couple of commits behind the tip. [Bug 1173349]
So here's what I've found so far. My work laptop has an Intel chipset and a 64-bit install of Fedora 18. I've never had the notification widget crash the desktop there. My home computer has a nVidia card and was a 32-built version of Fedora 18 and was having crashes all the time. I reinstalled with a 64-built Fedora 18 build and still had the issues. The only way I've been able to keep kwin from dying is to disable the system tray notifications widget. I've read elsewhere it's a code path issue in Qt that KDE 4.10+ triggers that wasn't triggered in the past and could require a significant rewrite of Qt to fix. Also doesn't seem to happen on either system with compositing disabled, but I like my eye candy ;) So for me, it seems to get triggered more often with kwin running compositing on nVidia cards than Intel cards. You guys having issues might try disabling the notification widget. Yeah, notifications can pop in the middle of the screen, but at least the don't bring kwin down with them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kde-workspace in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1173349 Title: plasma-desktop crashes repeatedly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdebase-workspace/+bug/1173349/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
