I've been seeing the same thing regularly. It seems that after a normal
(ctrl-v) paste, paste special does nothing, from the keyboard or from
the menu. I've seen this in oowriter and oocalc.

[Bug 744972] [NEW] BAMF window matching for Chromium webapps FFe

2011-03-29 Thread Jorge O. Castro
Public bug reported:

(On behalf of didrocks),

Chromium webapps regressed with the move to Compiz, that is there's no
way to easily add web shortcuts to the launcher, this was made more
difficult that we couldn't really match windows well in Chromium.

Upstream fixed a bug while testing for Unity to make it so we can
classify their windows better, this is the fix to BAMF so webapps show
up as webapps instead of another browser window.

[Bug 709125] Re: User agent doesn't include Ubuntu in it so apt.ubuntu.com doesn't work

2011-03-24 Thread Jorge O. Castro
mpt,

I think being able to have apt.u.c working for people who use other
browsers is a lesser evil.

Sure we lose the chance to tell people about ubuntu and how to get it,
but if they're on another OS it won't do them any harm, and in return we
get to finally help people fix the "I can't install things right"
problem, which is a bigger issue.

I can reproduce this. When using the askubuntu place at lp:askubuntu-

below it instead of the other way around.

perhaps?

[Bug 738710] [NEW] Needs quicklists for Natty

2011-03-20 Thread Jorge O. Castro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: shutter

We need quicklists in shutter's .desktop files for Natty since we don't
have libappindicator bindings for Perl and lacking the ability to
quickly take screenshots with it would be a bad regression. Maybe we
could do:

"Take a fullscreen shot"
"Take a window shot"
"Take a menu shot"

or something like that so that when we put Shutter on the Launcher we
can at least get this functionality back.

2011-03-07 Thread Jorge O. Castro
I get this on a new Thinkpad X120e, which has the same chipset as the
original reporter.

I'm not sure how this driver relates to the kernel, however I can
confirm that I get this crash both using the 2.6.38-5 kernel in Natty
and the vanilla mainline 2.6.38 (dated #201103060905) from the mainline
PPA.

In my case the system is completely unresponsive, I can't get any kind
of apport thing to popup and there's nothing there when I reboot.

[Bug 711561] Re: Compiz won't allow Desktop Cube plugin to load with unity

2011-03-07 Thread Jorge O. Castro
I'm tagging this bitesize if someone wants to take a stab at this. Right
now enabling the cube is breaking the wall, which is what we enable by
default, this is why it's conflicting when you try to turn the cube on.

If someone wants to submit a fix that enables Unity to run the cube
WITHOUT breaking the wall then that would be great.

[Bug 717364] Re: Launcher auto hide animation has a life of it's own

2011-02-11 Thread Jorge O. Castro
The following things happen when I set the Hide Launcher options in
ccsm:

Never - Launcher never hides as you'd expect, except applications
maximize as if it wasn't there so the launcher ends up over the app
instead of the app being maximized next to the launcher

Autohide - Launcher autohides but when I hover over the ubuntu button
the launcher tries to unhide so it sputters there until I move the mouse
away from the button, then it hides like normal.

Dodge Windows and Dodge active windows - launcher tries to unhide but
then gets stuck sputtering over and over regardless of where I move the
mouse. The only way to unstick it is to set the setting back to Never.

[Bug 703458] Re: Disable moving window transparency

2011-01-15 Thread Jorge O. Castro
John,

iirc when we did the compiz settings review we enabled this feature
because the idea was to allow people to move and resize windows while
being able to slightly see through them to be able to see content in
other windows while making a move.

didrocks, I think more concerning are the comments that the performance
on the free drivers are a regression; I guess we'll see as people try
it.

[Bug 683103] Re: Clients hang on server-reboot/shutdown ...

2011-01-10 Thread K. O.
First, Happy New Year!!! ;-)

I was not sure if you mean on a client or server so i tried on both ...

u...@client:~# lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release:10.04
Codename: lucid

u...@server:~# lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release:10.04
Codename: lucid

Hope that helps you to find a solution?! Whats lsb for?

***

We currently have a workaround by running a script that checks /dev/nbd0
in loop ...

#!/bin/bash
while nbd-client -c /dev/nbd0 > /dev/null 2>&1
do
sleep 60
done
echo o > /proc/sysrq-trigger

... which gets launched on Runlevel 2. It usual works within max 2
minutes, just in a few cases it takes longer (i guess until TCP times
out). With /proc/sysrq-trigger the client is also WakeOnLan-capable.
