[Bug 478160] [NEW] Xorg sometimes sees signal 11 after upgrade to Karmic

2009-11-08 Thread Odd A Olsen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

After upgrade the x server usually crash during boot with sig 11. I can
start X with startx and it works just fine. I have never had any
stability problem with this computer before the upgrade and do not
believe this is a hardware problem.

Other problems after upgrade, using KDE: hibernate and sleep do not turn
off the computer and shutdown button is not present or disappears
during session, I don't think this is related to the reported bug, but
anyhow...

[Bug 478182] [NEW] after upgrade to Karmic: missing pulseaudio-utils inhibits hibernate/sleep

2009-11-08 Thread Odd A Olsen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

After hibernate/suspend the screen goes black, but nothing more happens
to indicate any power down, fan keeps running, heat is produced ... When
I press a key I imediately get back to the password dialog.

The pm-suspend.log tells me that pacmd is missing and the power down
is thus inhibited.

I installed pulseaudio-utils and that fixed the problem.

Conclusion: pulseaudio-utils should be included in the standard upgrade
(or is it just my upgrade that failed?)

[Bug 66070] can't sudo shell inbuilts, e.g. cd

2006-10-14 Thread Odd A Olsen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sudo

I sometimes want to cd to a directory where I have no x-permission.
sudo cd ... does not work because it is built into bash, and bash is not run
sudo. This is especially annoying when working in server directories where
general access is not allowed.

[Bug 63399] Re: Install: keyboard test field UTF8 display

2006-10-02 Thread Odd A Olsen
Power up PC, boot Kubuntu CD, go directly to Install

-Choose language: Norsk bokmål
- Oslo timezone
-keyboard Norway
I have rebooted several times today to try and find a reproducible procedure. I
think maybe the language selection is important.

[Bug 63399] Install: keyboard test field UTF8 display

2006-10-01 Thread Odd A Olsen
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 6.10 beta (Edgy Eft)

During install I choose the Norwegian keyboard. When I type into the
test field two rectangles are displayed instead of the special letters
æøå. Looks like the field dosn't understand two byte chars (UTF8).
