[Bug 322737] Re: e1000e-ich9m: no wired ethernet adapter Intel 82567LM Dell E6500 @ ubuntu 8.04

2009-04-09 Thread Olivier Lemaire
I confirm: driver for Intel® 82567 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (default
embedded nic of the Optiplex 760) is not in base ubuntu 8.04.2 LTS
kernel (2.6.24-23).

You have to :
 * apt-get install build-essential linux-libc-dev
linux-headers-2.6.24-23-server
 * download the Intel driver source from Intel.com (see link above)
 * tar zxvf ...  cd e1000e-0.5.18.3/src/ &&  sudo make
CFLAGS_EXTRA=-DDISABLE_PCI_MSI install
 * then add 'e1000e' to your /etc/modules and reboot

It should be nice to have this driver integrated in the ubuntu kernel
for 8.04.3 ? :)

[Bug 286859] Re: [0.7] [3G] "PIN secret invalid" even though PIN is correct

2009-02-03 Thread Olivier Lemaire
I could find a way to make NM work on Intrepid with my f$*g Sierra card:
 * boot windows and use the Sierra tools to "deactivate PIN security" (set the
card not to ask the PIN code at each usage)
 * re-boot intrepid and set nothing in the PIN field of my broadband card
setting
 * launch NM broadband connection - OK

Sure it's not perfect, but helped me use this 3G card...

[Bug 323560] [NEW] won't install in Intrepid ...

2009-01-31 Thread Olivier Lemaire
Public bug reported:

libpar-packer-perl seems broken in Intrepid.

Just try to install it (sudo apt-get install libpar-packer-perl) to have
"Some packets can not be installed. This may meen you asked for an
impossible thing, or you're using the unstable release... ".

My env:
o...@lembox:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 8.10
Release:8.10

o...@lembox:~$ sudo apt-cache policy libpar-packer-perl
libpar-packer-perl:
  Installé : (aucun)
  Candidat : 0.978-1
 Table de version :
 0.978-1 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/universe Packages

I expected to 'sudo apt-get install libpar-packer-perl' to work fine.

Indtead, this package cannot be installed because of broken
dependencies...

Btw, libpar-packer-perl is just fine with 8.04 LTS...

Is there any fix scheduled on Intrepid?

[Bug 198380] kvm: no 64 bits no 2G+ RAM for domain/vm

2008-06-26 Thread Olivier Lemaire
After some search here and there (see [1]), on a 32bit architecture, kvm
can not serve more than 2047Mb of RAM for a given VM/domain.

To have VM/domain with more than 2Gb of RAM, you _must_ use a 64bit
kernel. I added a note on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KVM.

Cheers,

[Bug 198380] Re: VM with 2048MB crashes

2008-06-26 Thread Olivier Lemaire
Confirmed: more than 2G RAM seems impossible from "vanilla" Ubuntu 8.04
server install.

I'm using 2.6.24-19-server SMP kernel with Intel VT hardware (and so, kvm). I
defined a VM with more than 2G RAM.
Under virsh :
. define the VM is OK
. start the VM is NOK: "
libvir: QEMU error : QEMU quit during console startup
qemu: at most 2047 MB RAM can be simulated
   error: Failed to start domain

I'm using (virsh info):
virsh # version
Compiled against library: libvir 0.4.0
Using library: libvir 0.4.0
Using API: QEMU 0.4.0
Running hypervisor: QEMU 0.9.1

Is there a way to "enhance" this 2G RAM limitation?

[Bug 223987] [NEW] reversed image with webcam Logitec 09b2

2008-04-28 Thread Olivier Lemaire
Public bug reported:

Greetings,

The image from my Logitec webcam (046d:09b2) given via gstreamer-properties is
reversed (up/down).
I did not find how to indicate v4l driver how to "flip/flap" the image source.

So, in ekiga, I'm just upside-down :(

Is there a way to fix it?

Configuration :

[Bug 115743] Re: Wireless not working after suspend (S3) with ipw2100

2007-06-17 Thread Olivier Lemaire
I'm running feisty too, and had the same issue with resuming from a
suspended state: must, most of the time, dhclient my wireless interface
again to have network correctly resumed.

I applied your tip (STOP_SERVICES="networking" to /etc/default/acpi-
support) and it's working fine now.

Perhaps this could be the default behaviour of next release?

[Bug 120892] [authtool 0.2.0/feisty]: debconf.DebconfError if krb5-config is not installed

2007-06-17 Thread Olivier Lemaire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: authtool

I apt-get installed authtool-gtk (and so 'authtool' itself) on a already
working feisty laptop, no complains about krb5 dependencies.
When starting authtool-gtk ('sudo authtool-gtk'), I've got the following error
message:

After installing krb5-config (apt-get install krb5-config), authtool is
starting only with some warnings:

I think it should be a good thing to :
. place a dependency on krb5-config if you feel it's really mandatory to have
krb5 in any cases (I'm not sure it's the correct way)
. have a check at starting to verify if krb5-config is installed or not, and
place a explicit warning for users wanting to use Kerberos for them to install
krb5-config package
