[Bug 322737] Re: e1000e-ich9m: no wired ethernet adapter Intel 82567LM Dell E6500 @ ubuntu 8.04
I confirm: driver for Intel® 82567 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (default embedded nic of the Optiplex 760) is not in base ubuntu 8.04.2 LTS kernel (2.6.24-23). You have to : * apt-get install build-essential linux-libc-dev linux-headers-2.6.24-23-server * download the Intel driver source from Intel.com (see link above) * tar zxvf ... cd e1000e-0.5.18.3/src/ && sudo make CFLAGS_EXTRA=-DDISABLE_PCI_MSI install * then add 'e1000e' to your /etc/modules and reboot It should be nice to have this driver integrated in the ubuntu kernel for 8.04.3 ? :) -- e1000e-ich9m: no wired ethernet adapter Intel 82567LM Dell E6500 @ ubuntu 8.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/322737 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I could find a way to make NM work on Intrepid with my f$*g Sierra card: * boot windows and use the Sierra tools to "deactivate PIN security" (set the card not to ask the PIN code at each usage) * re-boot intrepid and set nothing in the PIN field of my broadband card setting * launch NM broadband connection - OK Sure it's not perfect, but helped me use this 3G card... -- [0.7] [3G] "PIN secret invalid" even though PIN is correct https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/286859 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 198380] kvm: no 64 bits no 2G+ RAM for domain/vm
After some search here and there (see [1]), on a 32bit architecture, kvm can not serve more than 2047Mb of RAM for a given VM/domain. [Bug 198380] Re: VM with 2048MB crashes
Confirmed: more than 2G RAM seems impossible from "vanilla" Ubuntu 8.04 server install. I'm using 2.6.24-19-server SMP kernel with Intel VT hardware (and so, kvm).
