Panayiotis, I confirm that your package works PERFECTLY on my Acer Aspire 5024 wlmi with Ubuntu feisty fawn amd64 I was able to install the wifi in less than 5 minutes ! :o) I use the Broadcom bcm43xx GTK installer (http://blakecmartin.googlepages.com/index.html) to install auto-magically the driver OR ndiswrapper that fit the best to my computer ! As i am a beginner in packaging, i was mistaken and confused packaging a kernel module ... I had several compilation errors in the pbuilder part and i didn't know how to write the postinst, postrm, etc. files ! :o) I've tried twice packaging this stuff but without any probing result ... Hi ! I've got an Acer Aspire 5024 WLMI which is quite the same laptop, excepting the CPU ... and some other stuffs ... (3020 and 5020 series are very similar) I've installed Feisty Fawn on my laptop and ran into the same problems : X hngs up with a black (it should have been corrected but not ! Same results since Dapper ...) For the wifi, i use acer_acpi which is a MUST on this computer. I've made some tutorials about acer aspire (in french !) on my blog (http://www.mumblyworld.info) and i've just made a beta realease .deb package of acer_acpi-0.5 (new version). You will find it there : http://repository.mumblyworld.info. As i try to boot from the Edgy knot 3 live-cd : - if i boot with the "test or install Ubuntu" : it boots but i've got a black screen (I can hear the Gnome music) - if i boot with the "failed safe graphics" option (i.e. xforcevesa option), it is the same result : black screen but i hear the gnome music so i switch to another console and run a dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, choosing the vesa driver and it works !!! But in 1024*768 and not in 1280*800 (15.4'' laptop screen) BUT if choose the ati driver, it does not work at all ! Public bug reported: Acer Aspire 5024 WLMI Graphic card : ATI Mobility Radeon X700 PCI Express 128 MB VRAM Got a black screen with a Ubuntu Edgy Knot 3. I got a black screen even though i choose xforcevesa (fail safe graphic) I can hear the gnome sound but no screen : BLACK ! I had the same probleme ! Computer : Acer Aspire 5024 WLMI (turion) ubuntu version : Edgy Eft knot 2 Can't boot with traditionnal options ... But the computer boots with these options : acpi=off irqpoll xforcevesa But : i've got a black screen. Gnome seems to open because i can hear the music ... but no image even in safe graphic mode ! So i had to switch for another console and make a dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg with vesa solution ...
