Make sure you leave a review for your MB. I've already done that on
Amazon UK.

[Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on Gigabyte AM4 motherboards (AMD Ryzen)

2017-05-07 Thread Ondrej Masek
Just got this from Gigabyte Support:

"Hello,
Sorry but Gigabyte do not guarantee Linux Platform on the desktop motherboard.
It support for Windows 10/7."

Extremely helpful :/

In the meantime, I booted the Kubuntu install ISO with acpi=off setting.
The same option was required for the first boot after install. Kernel
version 4.10.0-21 compiled by kaihengfeng on
http://people.canonical.com/~khfeng/lp1671360-2/ seems to work fine, the
only thing to report is a long boot time.

Thanks Kai-Heng Feng!

[Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on Gigabyte AM4 motherboards (AMD Ryzen)

2017-05-05 Thread Ondrej Masek
Submitted a request with Gigabyte support just now. Can't believe this
has been dragging on for two months. Who would have thought to check
whether the chosen motherboard even boots up with the latest OS prior to
purchasing :\ Extremely frustrating.

[Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on Gigabyte AM4 motherboards (AMD Ryzen)

2017-05-04 Thread Ondrej Masek
Same issue here on Ryzen 5 1600 + Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 when fresh-
installing Kubuntu 17.10. Shouldn't the importance of this issue be at
least "High"? What can be worse than if you can't even install the OS on
your PC? In the meantime as a workaround, Fedora 26 seems to work fine.

[Bug 439704] Re: kubuntu desktop starts with no desktop

2010-03-04 Thread Ondrej Masek
I remove files plasma-desktop-appletsrc and plasma-desktoprc from
~/.kde/config/share and the problem is gone. So are all my desktop and
widget settings, but it took a minute to set it back up.

[Bug 439704] Re: kubuntu desktop starts with no desktop

2010-03-04 Thread Ondrej Masek
I get the same problem. Everything was working just fine, but suddenly I
get a black desktop on login. I can see plasma panels with widgets
running, but there is no desktop - just black screen. When I go to to
Settings > Desktop > Multiple Desktops and I toggle and apply the
"Different activity for each desktop" the desktop appears. On next login
it is gone again.

[Bug 89885] Re: [feisty] konqueror fails to connect to web when knetworkmager is running (in offline mode)

2007-12-05 Thread Ondrej Masek
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 86680 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/86680

I can confirm this problem as well - using CDMA connection, I get
connected, Firefox is communicating perfectly, Skype / Kopete is online,
but Konqueror and KMail can not connect anywhere.

[Bug 73931] Re: login in nested window dies changing workspace

2007-06-03 Thread Ondrej Masek
i experience the same bug running gdmflexiserver --xnest in Feisty amd64.
I turn the workspaces couple of times (running beryl) and the xnest window is
gone - dies with no error output :(
When I check runnig processes I stil can see the gdm process, xnest is gone.
Xnest seems to disappear only when logged in though.
