I have the same trace in dmesg. I'm 99% positive it started happening
with the -37 kernel.

[Bug 417164] Re: latest plexus packages breaks Maven

2009-08-23 Thread Onestone
Downgrading libplexus-container-default-java (from
1.0-alpha-9-stable-1-4 to 1.0-alpha-9-stable-1-2) fixed this for me. The
previous version can be found here:

[Bug 392593] Re: [karmic regression] cannot connect to wireless network

2009-08-06 Thread Onestone
Upstream has supposedly fixed this in latest SVN. Please package it.

In the meantime, one workaround is to create a system connection (for
example using GNOME's nm-applet, which does it correctly).
Knetworkmanager will then work fine.

[Bug 269388] Re: Xorg eats CPU when using EXA

2008-09-13 Thread Onestone
I confirm this. It makes GNOME feel slow in general, and is very
noticeable in some particular cases - for example, open Nautilus, grab
its lower right corner, and try resizing the window for several seconds.
It's extremely slow to repaint. Switching back to XAA makes it very fast
again.

My configuration is similar to that of the OP:
Ubuntu Intrepid, fully updated as of 2008-09-13
  ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (X300)
  Radeon driver 1:6.9.0+git20080826.a3cc1d7a-2ubuntu2

I haven't messed with the default xorg.conf, other than switching EXA
on. Glxgears is accelerated, and direct rendering is on.

Note that using the same driver on Hardy (taken from Tormod Volden's
PPA), I didn't have this problem with EXA. Also, I'm not using Compiz.

[Bug 205025] Re: Hardy - network-manager_0.6.6-0ubuntu2 cannot connect to wireless acces point

2008-03-22 Thread Onestone
I confirm this. This update is the reason:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/hardy-changes/2008-March/009365.html
The CPU usage is 100% and it never connects. I'm using WPA and have Intel
4965AGN WiFi. It was working fine before this update.

[Bug 151741] Re: [Gutsy] No Usplash xorg

2007-10-15 Thread Onestone
"lsmod |grep fb" produces no output here. But I managed to solve the
problem. The contents of /etc/usplash.conf were initially "xres=1280
yres=1024", which the laptop display can't handle. I changed that to
"xres=1280 yres=800", and then had to execute "sudo update-usplash-theme
usplash-theme-ubuntu", which fixed it.

Also, this bug seems to be the same as #150930:

[Bug 151741] Re: [Gutsy] No Usplash xorg

2007-10-15 Thread Onestone
I have the exact same problem as the original poster. But I don't think
it's related to Xorg, because the problem occurs way before X is
started.

The symptoms: If I install Gutsy Beta and upgrade to current, it works
normally. If I install Gutsy RC (and optionally upgrade, doesn't
matter), the splash doesn't work (black screen all the way until GDM
loads), and the booting is MUCH slower (several times slower). If I
remove the "splash" boot option from GRUB, it boots quickly again,
without any problems. So this appears to be a problem with Ubiquity or
Usplash, but not with Xorg.

My laptop is an Acer TravelMate 4502WLMi, 1280x800, ATI Mobility Radeon
9700

[Bug 146169] Re: No system sounds in Gutsy beta release with errors

2007-10-05 Thread Onestone
I confirm this (clean Gutsy Beta install, currently upgraded to
2007-10-05). Esd is enabled in System -> Preferences -> Sound, but
various applications can't find /usr/bin/esd. Also, startup and shutdown
sounds don't play. Using ALSA directly works fine.

[Bug 83290] Re: [gutsy] kernel 2.6.20 and 2.6.22 problem on asus centrino

2007-09-22 Thread Onestone
I confirm this bug (or something very similar) on Acer TravelMate
4502WLMi. Both Gutsy Tribe 5, and the 9/20 daily build fail to boot,
freezing at "Loading ACPI modules". With "acpi=off" they boot, but then
frequency scaling doesn't work, which is critical. Feisty worked fine.

[Bug 117773] Re: Regression: Kernel 2.6.20-16 breaks Smart-battery ACPI support

2007-06-11 Thread Onestone
Confirming, on an Acer TravelMate 4502WLMi

Besides, when I unplug the power line, the laptop loses power
immediately (doesn't switch to battery)! When doing the same in Windows,
everything is OK.

Output of "sudo acpi -V":

Thermal 1: ok, 54.0 degrees C

(nothing about battery)

It's very disappointing to see this bug demoted to Medium severity.
Don't underestimate the number of affected users. Feisty shouldn't be
released in this state. IMHO the right decision is to make 2.6.20.12 the
default version, and provide 2.6.20.14 in the repositories for whoever
needs it.
