[Bug 165113] Re: gksudo nautilus won't set ownership/permissions on files below
Confirming that this issue/confusion is still present in Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS Desktop. @Bruno Girin: If this is the case. Then it's very confusing for me. I mean I'm not a coder but user. From my user point of view Apply permissions to enclosed files means Apply permissions to both enclosed files and folders. About renaming the current button to Apply permissions to enclosed files only And adding a new button right below and name it Apply permissions to both enclosed files and folders So there would be two buttons Apply permissions to enclosed files only Apply permissions to both enclosed files and folders Personally I have no use for the first button. It's the second one that would be useful to me. Command line is to hard for me. I need something visual/UI. -- gksudo nautilus won't set ownership/permissions on files below https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/165113 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 165113] Re: gksudo nautilus won't set ownership/permissions on files below
@all: Ubuntu user interface is not able to do that yet. Here is a easy work around for those who don't use command line. STEPS Installing 'PCMan File Manager' from the repositories. It's a sweet little lightweight file manager (ordinarily part of the LXDE desktop, but it's modular). Navigate to the following Ubuntu's menu APPLICATIONS SYSTEM TOOL PCMAN FILE MANAGER Navigate to the folder you want to edit the permissions. Select the folder with one left click. Navigate to the following PCMAN FILE MANAGER's menu TOOL OPEN CURRENT FOLDER AS ROOT. Navigate to the following PCMAN FILE MANAGER's menu FILE FILE PROPERTIES Type in the OWNER Type in the GROUP Choose permissions for all the files in that folder. Make sure SET UID and SET GID boxes are checked. Note: UID stands for USER ID. GID stands for GROUP ID. Do not check STICKY unless you know what you're doing. Click on OK button. PCMAN FILE MANAGER will ask if 'Do you want to recursively apply these changes to all files and sub-folders?' This is what you want to do so click on YES button. That's it. You have successfully changed all files and sub-folders permissions. -- gksudo nautilus won't set ownership/permissions on files below https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/165113 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 355998] Re: usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
Confirming that this bug is still present in Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS (Hardy Heron Desktop Edition). I have a MP3 player Sansa e280. I tried both Sansa MSC mode and MTP mode. And rebooting Ubuntu each time. Any volunteer to back port the patch? I would be happy to contribute testing. ** Changed in: libgphoto2 (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Fix Committed ** Changed in: libgphoto2 (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed = Fix Released -- usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355998 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 210690] Re: [upstream] [hardy] Sorting in ooffice calc
Same here. In OpenOffice it's possible to sort by any column and expand the selection. But it's easier and more intuitive in Excel. Find below steps for clarification. Using OpenOffice 2.4 on Ubuntu: 1. Go to menu EDIT SELECT ALL 2. Go to menu DATA SORT 3. Under SORT BY select the column you want to sort by 4. Click on OK button Using Excel 2003 on Windows. (This is the expected result for OpenOffice): 1. Select any column. 2. Click on any SORT button. 3. A pop up window will open. Select EXPAND THE SELECTION. Find attached screenshot.
