[Bug 1658401] [NEW] keyboard layoyt chart does not scale

2017-01-21 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Public bug reported:

The keyboard layout chart that can be seen when running gkbd-keyboard-
display, or through System Settings -> Text entry -> (Keyboard icon)
does not scale very well when scaling the display (System settings ->
Screen display -> Scale for menu and titlebars), I have it on 1,5
normally. Chars are cut off and not every one is displaying at all.
Resizing the window does nothing for the scale, and is very laggy,
freezing the entire dekstop for several seconds. It loooks really ugly.

[Bug 1655531] [NEW] ttf-mscorefonts-installer fails to download fonts

[Bug 1461386] [NEW] pm-powersave is not triggered when unplugging charger

2015-06-02 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Public bug reported:

Not sure at all which package to file this bug against, hopefully
someone can help me tag the right package. There is no pm-powersave
event triggered when plugging or unplugging my charger, none of the
powersave scripts are therefore triggered. I'm on a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro.
This must be a regression in Vivid, has worked fine in both Trusty and
Utopic. I can manually run sudo pm-powersave true to trigger the scripts

[Bug 1307857] [NEW] New lock screen doesn't work with On Screen Keyboard activated

2014-04-15 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:
1. Activate On Screen Keyboard under System Settings - Universal Access
2. Lock screen, either by Ctrl + Alt + L or let it time out
3. Log in, you will see the old (is it gnome-screensaver-something?) pre 14.04
lock screen login and not the cool new one

If you disable On Screen Keyboard and do the procedure again, it will show the
new lock screen. Sorry if I files this bug against the wrong package.

[Bug 1234299] Re: BUG: requesting unregistered parameter XX

2014-01-24 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Clearing /var/cache/powertop is just temporarily making powertop run
without the BUG message, it is coming back for me after a while. It is
still an issue. However even with the BUG message spewing out powertop
will eventually display normal, on Exit it will display similar messages
as well.

[Bug 1075417] Re: Unity panel height and launcher width don't scale with system DPI/font settings

2014-01-13 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Surprised that this is not a more pressing issue, higher resolutions
start rolling out on high end laptops all over and Unity is not fit for
fight here. I just got a 3200x1800 13.3 laptop and using Unity on this
screen is not for the faint of heart. Sure I could scale everything with
xrandr but that is just an ugly workaround. Hope to see some fast
improvement in this area, make Ubuntu ready for high end as well.

[Bug 1169437] Re: network-manager dnsmasq openvpn DNS issue

2013-12-14 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Sorry for not replying earlier but I actually got this working eventually. I'm
on version:
$ NetworkManager --version
0.9.8.0

I do have dns=dnsmasq now and it's working if I set the Method to
Addresses only, manually specify the DNS servers and search domain. No
issues anymore. I haven't tested if NM will use the DNS servers
automatically and I cant really do that right now as I need working VPN
for work, so I don't dare experiment with it. :) I will test further
during christmas when I get some time off.

[Bug 1218762] [NEW] iwconfig crashes computer

2013-08-30 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Public bug reported:

Everytime I try to run 'sudo iwconfig' the pc just crashes and hangs
with caps lock light flashing, I believe this is a kernel krash.
/var/log/syslog contains no traces of the crash. I have seen several
reports for this behaviour on Mac, and I believe they are also on
Broadcom drivers, so that is probably the lowest common denominator.

[Bug 1169437] Re: network-manager dnsmasq openvpn DNS issue

2013-05-14 Thread Oscar Tiderman
This bug still exists after upgrading to 13.04, commenting out
dns=dnsmasq fron NetworkManager.conf still is a valid workaround.

[Bug 1178945] [NEW] Shotwell crashes / greys out on launch

2013-05-11 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Public bug reported:

First time I started Shotwell it launched fine and I imported all of my
pics (local only). Now when I try to start it the window becomes
unresponsive (greyed out) before I get to see my pics, it won't even
launch properly. I imported about 2000 pics to it the first time so it's
no massive library causing this.

[Bug 1169437] Re: network-manager dnsmasq openvpn DNS issue

2013-04-17 Thread Oscar Tiderman
** Description changed:

NetworkManager/dnsmasq does not set the DNS servers given by openvpn
server when I connect. I can see in my syslog that I do receive the name
servers correctly along with all the routes:

Apr 16 08:14:09 homer NetworkManager[4014]: info Internal DNS:
192.168.11.90
Apr 16 08:14:09 homer NetworkManager[4014]: info Internal DNS:
192.168.11.190

  However they are not used:
  oscar@homer:~$ nmcli -f IP4 dev list | grep DNS
  IP4.DNS[1]: 192.168.0.1
  oscar@homer:~$

(That is my default DNS/Gateway and it should still be queried for all
DNS queries outside of VPN network)

  If I comment out dns=dnsmasq in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
and oc restart NetworkManager all DNS start to work properly again, VPN
DNS's are used for those resources on the VPN network and others through
my default DNS. Let me know if I kan provide further info about this
  issue.

[Bug 1121073] [NEW] Nautilus is not showing [encrypted] units after unmount

2013-02-10 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Public bug reported:

I have an encrypted SD-card connected to my laptops card reader. After
boot I start Nautilus and I can see the unit in the unit list, it is not
mounted. I click on it to mount it and give the password with option
Remind password for session, I then copy some files to it and the press
the eject button to the right of it. Nautilus shuts down the active
window. Later I want to copy some more files to it, so I start Nautilus
again but the unit is not visible this time. I can see the SD-card in
Disks but I cannot mount it.

[Bug 1088825] [NEW] Random reboots and crashes

I'm currently running 3.5.0-20 kernel from Proposed and I'm seeing
random reboots an crashes on my desktop PC. I have also seen a white

[Bug 1088825] Re: Random reboots and crashes

2012-12-11 Thread Oscar Tiderman
I will test upstream kernel when I get a chance, probably tomorrow. I
was running 3.5.0-19-generic, before the upgrade came through proposed
updates (through Update manager), and it was working fine, also rebooted
to that kernel when I started to get problems with -20 and running it
now without any problems.

Same here, most of the time it's enough to just hover tabs to get
artifacts. Senn it on both intel and NVIDIA GPUs on separate PCs.

[Bug 763284] Re: indicator-weather crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()

2012-08-12 Thread Oscar Tiderman
There's so many bug reports about indicator-weather crashing I can't
keep track of which one I've reported to and which ones contains fixes
and so on, anyway it's still crashing just by idling, hope someone will
take care of it soon.

[Bug 886605] Re: Desktop, Launcher and menu bar still visible when screen locked

2012-06-15 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Usually this will happen on my desktop if I leave it on for a long time,
I have never seen it on my laptop. I just had it with 14 day uptime and
patched with all updates during that time. From what I think something
regarding this stops working after having been patched, after a reboot
everything is fine again and not reproducible until a few updates have
been installed again without rebooting. I don't have the time to figure
out which patches actually causes this.

[Bug 781931] Re: New windows are moved to front but don't take focus

2012-04-21 Thread Oscar Tiderman
I'd say the Update Manager is the most obvious example of this, happens
every time. It pops up when starting an upgrade on top of all other
windows but doesn't have focus. It doesn't help to click on one of the
windows behind it to bring that one to front, Update Manager still lies
on top without focus. To get rid of it you first have to click on it to
give it focus and then on one of the other windows to bring Update
Manager to back again.

** Tags added: apport-collected staging

** Description changed:

On every boot I need to do 'sudo modprobe -r wl ssb b43' and then 'sudo
modprobe wl' to get my wifi going. I have a BCM43225 Broadcom WiFi card.
If I dont do it no wifi interface is detected at all.

[Bug 918371] Re: Import bookmarks and settings: No supported browser found

2012-02-07 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Yep, Chromium 16.0.912.77 (Developer Build 118311 Linux) Ubuntu 11.10
won't see Firefox 10.0, and Firefox can't see Chromium for import
either. Strange really. I have tried putting them both as default
browser, disabled Master Password in Firefox and trying to do import
with FF both started and stopped and restarted them both but it's still
the same problem.
