[Bug 1089171] Re: x server crashes while running Inkscape

2012-12-12 Thread Ove Edfors
I think this is a duplicate of Bug #1081108.

Anyway, it affects me and I'm really interested in any stable solution
to this. Using the xorg-edgers repository, as suggested under Bug
#1081108 seems too shaky for me.

[Bug 776588] [NEW] Long pause in boot sequence after upgrading to Natty

2011-05-03 Thread Ove Edfors
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Natty on my ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 based computer there is
an almost 150 sec pause in the boot sequence. The computer ran Maverick
without problem before the upgrade. I think I have isolated the problem
to the ACPI support, since disabling ACPI in the BIOS removes the pause
(upgrading to the lastest BIOS did not solve it). I have also seen other
users (in forums) with similar motherboards from ASUS with the same
problem. Could not find any bug report here though.

Two lines from dmesg (where the pause is):

  [ 1.473995] NET: Registered protocol family 1
  [ 146.850140] pci :05:00.0: Boot video device

Pressning a key on the keyboard during this pause seems to wake the
computer and the pause becomes shorter than 150 sec.

[Bug 776588] Re: Long pause in boot sequence after upgrading to Natty

2011-05-03 Thread Ove Edfors
** Description changed:

After upgrading to Natty on my ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 based computer there is
an almost 150 sec pause in the boot sequence. The computer ran Maverick
without problem before the upgrade. I think I have isolated the problem
to the ACPI support, since disabling ACPI in the BIOS removes the pause
(upgrading to the lastest BIOS did not solve it). I have also seen other
users (in forums) with similar motherboards from ASUS with the same
problem. Could not find any bug report here though.

Two lines from dmesg (where the pause is):

- [ 1.473995] NET: Registered protocol family 1
- [ 146.850140] pci :05:00.0: Boot video device
+   [ 1.473995] NET: Registered protocol family 1
+   [ 146.850140] pci :05:00.0: Boot video device

Pressning a key on the keyboard during this pause seems to wake the
computer and the pause becomes shorter than 150 sec.
+
+ After disabling ACPI in the BIOS, the same two lines from dmesg became:
+
+ [0.383552] NET: Registered protocol family 1
+ [1.230103] pci :05:00.0: Boot video device
+
+ A huge improvement!
