[Bug 1833280] [NEW] Wayland windows becomes bigger every quit/launch cycle, KDEP 5.16/KDEF 5.59

2019-06-18 Thread Oxwivi
Public bug reported:

Since the last major series of updates from the kubuntu-ppa/ppa, I've
noticed that Wayland-native windows will progressively become bigger
every time they are quit and reopened. This issue does not apply to
either X sessions or Xwayland windows opened in the Wayland session.

>From my limited testing, Wayland-native software like Konsole, Dolphin,
Discover, System Settings all became larger every time I quit and
reopened them.

For example, Konsole—which flashes it's dimensions when opened—began
with 114 x 64. After quitting and opening it, the window was 115 x 66.

[Bug 1683702] Re: Cannot upgrade from 16.10 to 17.04

2017-05-30 Thread Oxwivi
Why would oibaf or any other PPA cause a hold-up? Doesn't the upgrade
process explicitly state that it's disabling third-party sources?

Third party sources disabled

Some third party entries in your sources.list were disabled. You can
re-enable them after the upgrade with the 'software-properties' tool
or your package manager.

To continue please press [ENTER]

Does that mean only non-PPA repos? I think PPAs should be considered to
be disabled in that case.

2016-10-17 Thread Oxwivi
Whether the equivalent tap exists or not is besides the point, because, for
one, libinput is supposed to handle what kind of tap it is, and second,
middle-clicks are still triggered by tapping top-right corner of the
touchpad.

My touchpad can support multi-finger taps, and I assure you, three-finger

[Bug 592842] Re: appmenu doesn't work with apps run as sudo root

2016-09-21 Thread Oxwivi
I found you could set DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS variable, but it gives an
error:

$ sudo DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS=$DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS gnome-terminal
Error constructing proxy for org.gnome.Terminal:/org/gnome/Terminal/Factory0:
The connection is closed

For the record, I want to integrate apps running in remote machines and
LXC containers into Unity. Obviously they share the same issue are
trying to integrate sudoed apps, namely the apps using session bus
specific to the remote machine or container. As such, I'm trying to
mount my local bus session to the container and telling the apps to use
it.

[Bug 1617718] [NEW] Desktop Guide Middle-click Tips & tricks outdated

2016-08-28 Thread Oxwivi
Public bug reported:

The Tips & tricks page for Middle-click is clearly outdated. It mentions
three-finger tap to emulate middle-clicks, but since a few releases
back, middle-click emulation is done by tapping the top-right corner.

I'm just reporting what I noticed while Googling around, so there's
orobably more factual errors around. This bug report is to bring
attention to the issue.

[Bug 1576052] Re: Scrollbar on gtk3 has inconsistent behavior

2016-05-07 Thread Oxwivi
gtk-primary-button-warps-slider setting works perfect. It restores the
old, expected behavir that I described to the point.

Excuse me for the late response, the setting needs a restart (or at
least, logging out and logging in again but I've not checked) to
activate. I don't do that often.

[Bug 1576052] Re: Scrollbar on gtk3 has inconsistent behavior

2016-05-05 Thread Oxwivi
Okay, I rechecked. I was wrong. In both gedit and nautilus, if the
scrollable distance is large, it uses Firefox behavior, but when the
scrollable distance is small (for example home dir showing all hidden
items), it behaves more like the older scrollbars.

[Bug 1576052] Re: Scrollbar on gtk3 has inconsistent behavior

2016-05-05 Thread Oxwivi
If it's done on purpose, it needs a good reason. And I don't see any
good reason to break OS-wide, old, bug-free and cross-platform standard
behavior.

Admittedly, I've yet to use the new GNOME Shell, where the default gtk3
scrollbar behavior may possibly be as I described. However, this package
is specifically meant for Ubuntu which has retained the old tried-and-
true behavior in all gtk3 apps; therefore Firefox should also conform.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected xenial

** Description changed:

This bug applies to all Firefox versions since Unity brought global
menus. However, only Firefox is affected, I've not observed any other
  app with a similar issue.

  What I expected:
   * Activating a menu item to simply display the relevant menu and cause no
further interface changes

  What happened instead:
   * Activating a menu item displays the relevant menu and introduces a space
between the titlebar and tabs

- The change is persistent as long as the window is open. Resizing or
- maximizing makes no difference. Enabling and activating menus from the
- title bar causes the exact same effect. Closing the window and reopening
- it from History's "Restore Closed Windows" removes the space. In other
- words, it does not affect newly opened windows.

[Bug 1576605] Re: Activating menu items creates permanent space between title bar and tabs

2016-05-01 Thread Oxwivi
Let me repeat that question: do I do that after triggering the bug or
not? I'm fully aware what apport-collect is and how to run it. What I'm
asking is, do I do apport-collect after the bug has affected Firefox? Or
does it not matter at all?

[Bug 1576605] [NEW] Activating menu items creates permanent space between title bar and tabs

2016-04-29 Thread Oxwivi
Public bug reported:

This bug applies to all Firefox versions since Unity brought global
menus. However, only Firefox is affected, I've not observed any other
app with a similar issue.

What I expected:
 * Activating a menu item to simply display the relevant menu and cause no
further interface changes

What happened instead:
 * Activating a menu item displays the relevant menu and introduces a space
between the titlebar and tabs

The change is persistent as long as the window is open. Resizing or
maximizing makes no difference. Enabling and activating menus from the
title bar causes the exact same effect. Closing the window and reopening
it from History's "Restore Closed Windows" removes the space. In other
words, it does not affect newly opened windows.

** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1462359] Re: wine currently can not be installed in wily - 15.10

2015-11-07 Thread Oxwivi
It is fixed in the sense than wine1.6 is installing fine on Wily.
wine1.7 is only available from PPA, and that is definitely not working.
So yes, if you want your prepackaged Wine fix, the only way is to: sudo
apt-get install wine1.6

@Brad, I'm sorry the laptop in question is no longer functional, I
cannot attempt to run apport even if I wanted to. If cyrilou is still
following the bug, he can help in obtaining the logs.

[Bug 740893] Re: Kernel 2.6.38-7 completely dims screen on Intel GMA 4500M

2011-05-05 Thread Oxwivi
@cyrilou, add Arch affected under affected distributions, and link to
the bug report, if you've made one on Arch's bug tracker.

I'm not sure about what factors exactly are leading to this result, but
installing the said version of the kernel package on either 10.10 and
11.04 completely darkens my screen. If I press the power button or open
a window with keyboard shortcuts I can make out they're open but can't
  view them at all.

  10.10
- I downloaded 2.6.38-7 kernel package for Ubuntu and installed them on 10.10
dual-booted with Windows 7. On reboot I could not make out anything on the
screen, and assuming Ubuntu did not load properly, I was about to try a hard
shutdown. But on pressing the power button, I noticed that there was a dim glow
of the Shut Down window , from which I selected restart using the keyboard.
Since the next boot did not improve anything, I chose older kernel, which
displayed everything normally again.

  11.04
Installing Natty wiped of my HDD of 10.10 and Windows 7 for which I suspect
an unrelated bug. The said kernel image installed through the usual updates,
and I was returned to the dim screen I experienced in 10.10. Since I did not
know how to bring up the GRUB menu at boot with a single OS, I used a
flashlight to find the kernel package on Software Center and removed it. Screen
worked fine after reboot.

Thus I conclude that the kernel image is at fault for the screen
dimming. As I said, I'm not aware of all the possible factors involved
in this bug, so I've listed my display hardware specifications for now
and narrated to how I've come to suspect the kernel image for this bug.
Please post your thoughts on this matter, and instruct me on diagnosing
  it.

I've removed the kernel package, so I cannot comply with bug reporting
guidelines, but this is my current output of 'lsb_release -rd':
  Description: Ubuntu Natty (development branch)
  Release: 11.04

[Bug 738636] Re: Drag and drop between different windows

2011-05-05 Thread Oxwivi
** Description changed:

Dragging and dropping text and images between different windows doesn't
work. Dragging something to the launcher icon of an open window shows
the window preview but nothing can be dropped. Dragging something and
pressing Alt + Tab focuses on the launcher and doesn't allow switching
  windows.

Drag-and-drop functionality would be sorely missed as it's a quick
workaround to manually copying and pasting data. Please consider this a
  papercut bug as well.
+
+ EDIT
+ Let me clarify and say that drag and drop does work, but not from MAXIMISED
windows.

@LisandroVCR, I know about expo view, but I don't know how to access it.
And how would you expect a user to bash in a shortcut while still
holding the mouse to drag an item?
