[Bug 1184720] Re: Nautilus does not properly navigate symbolic links

2014-02-27 Thread Péter Trombitás
For me this seems that gnome devs don't really care (as usual). I guess if we
want this bug to be solved in ubuntu, we have to do it ourselves...
I personally start to think that the ones who develop nautilus don't even use
it on a daily basis. Because these kinds of bugs won't come up on any kind of
unit testing. It is just an annoying 'feature' that you discover when you use a
program every day.

what is going on with this? As I understand this bug actually means that
the user cannot set a very primitive alarm clock to wake them up in the
morning. I think this is almost as important as being able to receive

[Bug 1172628] [NEW] Unity sometimes freezes after wake up from suspend

2013-04-25 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

I couldn't find anything that can cause this, it is completely occasional.
I use Ubuntu 12.04.2 64bit.
Sometimes if I open my laptop's lid to wake it up from suspend, my whole
desktop freezes. I'm reporting this to unity because with any other DE it
doesn't happen (not even with unity-2d).
In my case, after waking up from suspend, I can see the screen's lats state for
like a second, with a notification saying disconnected from network, but in
normal cases, that notification disappears and then everything starts to work,
for example nm-applet connects to the wifi-network again etc. But in some
cases, the desktop freezes with that first notification on it. Sometimes I
cannot even switch to tty1. But when I can, an export DISPLAY=:0; unity
--replace doesn't help, only a sudo restart lightdm 'solves' the issue.
No matter what kernel I boot (3.2 or 3.5), this happens sometimes.

Sorry if it turns out that this is not related to unity, but that would
be my best guess.

Thank you in advance!

[Bug 769644] Re: Alt-F2 (or lxpanelctl run) doesn't work

2013-03-31 Thread Péter Trombitás
Here on Ubuntu 12.04 with lxpanel 0.5.8, the problem still exists. However,
after I log in, the first lxpanelctl command works (e.g alt+f2 opens the run
command window). However, after that, nothing works.
I worked around the problem by using gmrun, though it's not the best solution,
because none of the lxpanelctl commands work.

Re: [Bug 1036231] Re: Icon resized between 32 - 48 - 64 look jaggy

2012-12-01 Thread Péter Trombitás
Here it's kind of ok. It is not distorted now, though when the size is set
to an uneven number, icons are a bit blurred, like they are out of focus.
So I wouldn't mark this as not solved or something, I'm just saying that
this could be better (in theory, at least :)).

Looks good now (although could of course also use bicubic instead of
 linear).

Re: [Bug 992717] Re: Opening files from the Dash randomly doesn't work

2012-11-20 Thread Péter Trombitás
That bug is another issue, at least when I try to open a picture in my
Pictures folder (called 'Képek' in Hungarian), I get a warning about the
file ~/K%C3%A9pek/... not being found, so it's not the same that I reported.
I now can't reproduce the bug I reported, but if I remember well in my case
nothing happened at all, no warning, no nothing.
I'm gonna use Unity 2D for a while now in order to try to reproduce the
problem.

2012/11/19 Nathanaël Naeri 992...@bugs.launchpad.net

This bug might be a duplicate of bug #1002710, if Péter can confirm that
the files he can't open from the dash in Unity 2D are in a folder whose
name contains Greek or accentuated characters (or perhaps, more
 generally, non-Latin characters).

[Bug 1081114] [NEW] Clicking on file results on the Dash opens their folder, but not the file itself

2012-11-20 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

This is a problem in both 2D and 3D unity.

If my config is ruined, then please let me know and mark this as
invalid.

Problem: when I click on a search result that is a file, that file should open
in it's default app (so e.g clicking on a picture opens up eog.) But in my
case, it only opens the folder containing that file, no matter what the
extension is (I tried .jpg, .png, .c, .h, .py, .doc, .odt, .pdf, .xls, .xlsx
etc etc).
The default apps are set in both gnome-control-center and ubunt-tweak.

Re: [Bug 992717] Re: Opening files from the Dash randomly doesn't work

2012-11-20 Thread Péter Trombitás
Those files do exist.
I'm on Precise. I can open ~/test.txt but I get the error message when
trying to open ~/Képek/test.jpg.

2012/11/20 Nathanaël Naeri 992...@bugs.launchpad.net

Hi Péter, there is no mention of a warning/error in the bug I linked to
(bug #1002710) or in its duplicates (bug #1003820 and bug #1013386).
Opening files from the Dash fails silently, so your bug might be the
 same.

If you sometimes get a warning/error when you try to open files from the
Dash, that might indicate another bug, or that the file you're trying to
 open has been moved/renamed/deleted.

You can try to reproduce your bug in Unity 2D by creating
test/somefile1.txt and tést/somefile2.txt and try to open them from
the Dash. You won't be able to use Unity 2D anymore if you've upgraded
 to Ubuntu 12.10 though.

2012-11-20 Thread Péter Trombitás
So ~ is /home/trombipeti, no accents.

I always get a warning or the file opens. So I guess that this actual bug
is the duplicate of #1002710 etc, but I can't reproduce it anymore.

2012/11/20 Nathanaël Naeri 992...@bugs.launchpad.net

Does ~ stands for peter or péter? If it stands for peter, then the bug
you are reporting is indeed the same as bug #1002710, bug #1003820, bug
#1013386: the Dash in Unity 2D fails silently to open files with an
accentuated character in its name or path.

As for the warning/error you sometimes get, that would be a completely
 different bug, imho.

[Bug 1029697] [NEW] In Quantal, PRUNEPATHS in /etc/updatedb.conf include /media instead of /run/media

2012-07-26 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

I guess /media refers to all the mounted media; pendrives etc. But since
they're now mounted to /run/media/$USER, updatedb will scan them too.
The modified updatedb.conf in the bugreport is the original version I hope,
though I modified it before (that was when I encountered the bug).

[Bug 749084] Re: Dbus-Plugin of compiz not working

2012-07-10 Thread Péter Trombitás
Precise here and loads of error messages.
I think it should be _very_ important to get the whole dbus backend work,
because Unity looks great and is very good to use, but since things don't work
under the hood, users can run into problems.
I doubt I could help as I know only some basic python, but if I can, please let
me know, I'd like to have this problem fixed asap.

[Bug 992717] [NEW] Opening files from the Dash randomly doesn't work

2012-05-01 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

My problem is really simple: if I click on a file in the dash (either an exact
search result or a recent file), sometimes nothing happens. But in some cases,
it works. I can't say that it has a problem with file types - for example, I
can open a .jpeg file that's on my desktop, but neither can I open a .JPG
that's in my pictures folder, nor one that's on an external HDD, nor one that's
_also_ on the desktop.
This problem doesn't come up when using 3D unity.
If needed, I can try a live cd/fresh install, but my network connection is
really slow so I would only do that if that's the only solution.

[Bug 987474] [NEW] Apps icon stays in the launcher if we interrupt the installation

2012-04-23 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

If it affects unity as well, than please mark it.
How to reproduce:
 - Start installing anything from the software center with new apps in
launcher enabled
 - After a while, interrupt the installation from the software center
 what should happen:
the app's icon should disappear from the launcher
 what happens instead:
the icon stays in the launcher, making the user think that it might have
been installed even though they interrupted the installation
On the attached screenshot you can see that geany is not installed on the
computer, but it has an icon in the launcher as a result of this problem.

Re: [Bug 788607] Re: gnome terminal hiding other windows and screensaver with dual screens

2012-04-08 Thread Péter Trombitás
Also, as another workaround, I use Guake from now on. It hides, so it's
good for me. And you can start searching for terminals that doesn't produce
this (Xterm is one of them :)). So you can enjoy unity-2d with a resolution
 2048*X

2012/4/8 Colin Law 788...@bugs.launchpad.net

@Charlie, just in case you missed it, the workaround in comment #4 fixes
the problem for me and does not seem to have any significant side
effects. Not ideal I know but much better than nothing.

[Bug 964604] [NEW] Incosistent behaviour with setting the same background as the users wallpaper

2012-03-25 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Even if I copy the background to
/usr/share/backgrounds, or set the path in dconf-editor, it doesn't always
work. As far as I can remember, every time it worked, I restarted lightdm right

Re: [Bug 963437] Re: [multi-monitor] gnome-terminal doesn't go behind the other focused windows

2012-03-24 Thread Péter Trombitás
Yes this is a duplicate. Tonight I'm going to try other terminals to
see if they work - the problem is with the transparent background of
the terminal. more precisely, with the option to have it, so I guess
that terminals that don't have the ability to have transparent
background will work.
Mark as a duplicate, please
Thank you

[Bug 961459] [NEW] In multi-monitor mode, some files aren't visible on the desktop

2012-03-21 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

Maybe this affects unity also, but I can't get multi-monitors working in normal
unity.
My problem is that it's unclear how files are on the desktops. Some are visible
on one desktop (monitor), sometimes some are on the other, but everything is
random.

Re: [Bug 961459] Re: In multi-monitor mode, some files aren't visible on the desktop

2012-03-21 Thread Péter Trombitás
They do get lost offscreen, even if I arrange icons by name.
If I create some files with right click - Create new document -
[anything], they are visible _unitl_ I arrange icons by name again.
If I set the same resolution for both displays or mirror them,
everything's fine. But if I change the external monitor's resolution to a
greater value: 1.) all icons go to the laptop's monitor, even if they had
been created on the external display; 2.) the icons go upwards. It looks
as if the icons thought that the laptop also had 1280x1024 resolution,
though it has 1024x768 max.
And there are more problems like these, I can write down all of them/maybe
record it and upload the video or animgif somewhere, maybe the video is
more easy to understand than my hungover english:)

2012/3/21 Michał Sawicz michal.saw...@canonical.com

Hey, can you right-click on the desktop and go Asztal rendezése név
 szerint?

My guess is that the other icons got lost offscreen.

Re: [Bug 957529] Re: It's possible to disable the Unity Plugin from it's preferences window

2012-03-18 Thread Péter Trombitás
Ok, so if this was meant to be like this, then mark this bug as invalid.
Although I think the checkbox in the preferences window should behave as
the one in the main window, because the users who want to kill unity when
running unity session are very likely to be able to do that from the
terminal.

[Bug 957493] [NEW] Some keyboard shortcuts doesn't work on login

Public bug reported:

Alt+F2, Alt+tab (and all related to window switching), Alt+F10, Alt+F1, etc (I

2012-03-12 Thread Péter Trombitás
Another piece of information: Network Connections crashes if I try to edit
a wireless network's config that has no wireless key set yet. I get an
error message saying:
(this is in Hungarian for me, so I'm not sure what's the original:)
Error preparing the editor
No agents were available for this request. (This is in English).
Now what does this mean?
I don't seem to be able to connect to my wifi from terminal, either (with
sudo iwconfig eth1 essid SMC key s:mypassword). This can mean though
that I'm using the worng command.

My password contains only normal small letters, so here it's not the cause
of the problem.

2012/3/11 sieciobywatel 908...@bugs.launchpad.net

The problem seems to be in parsing passphrase.
After I've changed passphrase on m AP (by deleting double '@@' it
 contained) all works as charm.

Thus my bet is that some characters in passphrase make aplet crash. Can
 anyone confirm it?

Maybe this bug should be also reviewed in security context?

[Bug 908380] Re: [ipw2200] nm-applet crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()

2012-03-09 Thread Péter Trombitás
Hi,
So it seems that my problem I submitted another bug about is not this problem
though it has been marked as a duplicate. I'm not 100% sure though.
I tried to connect to a secured wifi during install, and nm-applet crashed, but
that network was remembered and set to autoconnect. Every time I tried to
launch nm-applet, it crashed when it was about to ask for the password. So I
opened 'network connections' from the dash, and deleted all the remembered wifi
networks and added mine with data from the iwlist eth1 s command's output. No
I'm connected to the network and nm-applet runs, though it crashes when I
select another secured wifi to connect to. Also, it doesn't show the signal
quality (it looks as if there was no signal), and it doesn't show which network
I'm connected to, it just shows 'disconnect' under wifi connections from what I
know that I'm connected to something. Also, I cannot select any networks to
connect to (see the attached screenshot).

...And now, after selecting another network to connect to, I'm again
unable to use wifi, though nm-applet runs.

Sorry for writing such a long comment, hope it helps :)
If the problem described above is not related to this bug, I will open another
bug.
Thank you in advance.

Re: [Bug 908380] Re: [ipw2200] nm-applet crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()

2012-03-09 Thread Péter Trombitás
It's ipw2200 here, too. I'll try the older kernels tomorrow or something.
Péter

2012/3/9 Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre mathieu...@gmail.com

Jayson, nothing more to do for that bug report, it indeed is most likely
the same issue (sound similar from the description) though there is no
crash report now since it was marked as a duplicate by Launchpad. It's
 most likely correct.

Now the steps needed is to figure out why this fails. I haven't actually
been able to reproduce this at all because I don't have access to any
hardware that has that chip; what needs to be done is probably figure
out what kernel version introduces it (e.g. try older versions), then
bisect to find where the ipw2200 driver stopped properly reporting
 capabilities.

[Bug 938122] [NEW] Nautilus crashes on login and can't start it again

2012-02-21 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

After logging in, nautilus crashed.
Conky was running, and I was trying to move a file on the desktop to another
place.

When I try to launch nautilus from the terminal, I get the following
output:

'Érvénytelen argumentum' means invalid argument, 'Félbeszakítva' means
aborted, 'core készült' means sth like core was created, don't know
exactly.

[Bug 842108] Re: run command (alt+F2): results do not contain the exact match

2012-02-14 Thread Péter Trombitás
I think some solution/workaround would be to execute the search_string
if it is a command, and if not, then execute the first match. I don't
know vala so I don't know how/whether it could be done, but looking at
the source code with all my python knowledge - that is not a lot:) - it
seems possible.

[Bug 931183] [NEW] Problem with similar commands in the 'Run command' window

2012-02-12 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

If a command's name is part of - and the beginning of - another command's name,
the second gets executed if the user types the shorter in the Alt+F2 window.
For example, I wrote a script that starts all my conkys, each with different
config files. It's called conkystart, and I copied it into /usr/bin. If I
want to run conky as is, the conkystart command appears as a suggestion, but
the conky command does not. I have to type con and then select the correct
command to get only the basic conky running.

[Bug 927115] [NEW] With transparent launcher, appmenus/titles don't hide but become black

2012-02-05 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

When I set the panel's opacity to 1.000 (so it's totally transparent), the
application menus/application titles do no hide when they should, they become
black. This problem doesn't occur when the opacity is 0.
It was not a problem before the upgrade to unity 5.2.0.

[Bug 922704] [NEW] Function names in Calc stay English even if I change language (Oneiric)

2012-01-27 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

My libreoffice version: LibreOffice 3.4 340m1(Build:402)
In calc (with every localisation packages installed) function names are in
English, even though I unselected the corresponding option in the settings.
(They should be in Hungarian)
This problem is solved in the package available from the PPA (LibreOffice 3.4
340m1(Build:502)), so either that should be in the official repo or this bug
should be fixed in the package that's in the repo.

[Bug 922156] [NEW] In precise, nm-applet crashes before opening the windows that asks for wireless password

2012-01-26 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

During the install, I tried to connect to my wireless network that is
secured with wpa. But I couldn't - the applet crashed before being able
to ask for my password. This problem happens every time I log in - so
it crashes on startup because it wants to ask for my password - and it
also crashes if I type nm-applet in the terminal.

[Bug 884072] Re: no exact match for ConfigureNotify on 0x1a00092! (or something)

2012-01-22 Thread Péter Trombitás
It happened here, too.
I'm using precise.
unity-5.0.0
Compiz 0.9.6
It happened after I had to force quit nautilus for some reason, and typed
unity --replace in the terminal.
I'm not sure though if it's a unity bug, I'd rather say this is a compiz bug.

Yes, this happened with me too. I disabled guest session to try if I can
somehow else get the icon back - clicking on it's place or something -
but it doesn't work. So if you're the only user and you don't allow
guest session you can only log into the default session.

[Bug 918913] [NEW] Keyboard layout is always en at login, no matter what the user's is

2012-01-19 Thread Péter Trombitás
Public bug reported:

In 12.04, at the login screen, the selected keyboard layout is always 'en',
even though I've installed the system with 'hu' selected, and I do not use
English layout at all. I guees the ideal case would be if it was the user's
selected layout (and change when selecting an other user, just like the
background).
(this layout change also swaps Z and Y so password containing those characters
are also problematic.)

[Bug 796076] Re: When run as root [gksudo gedit whatever] gedit tries to open a 2nd 'untitled document 1'

2011-12-25 Thread Péter Trombitás
I have the same problem here on Ubuntu 11.10, quite annoying.
Does anybody know where can I find the root's config file for gedit? I'm sure
that causes the problem, because if I run sudo gedit, the problem doesn't
occur. However, starting graphical programs with sudo uses the user's config
file, not the root's. (therefore should be avoided).

[Bug 781239] [NEW] Nautilus sometimes chrases when I click on Burn to disk in the right-click menu of a .iso image

Public bug reported:

Sometimes, when I try to burn a .iso image to disk (right click on image - burn
