[Bug 1887190] Re: MSFT Touchpad not working on Lenovo Legion-5 15ARH05

2020-10-10 Thread PD
@Coiby Xu (coiby)
Thanks a log for your contribution

I tried to use the way of "echo out > gpio386/direction" to fix the
problem without patching the kernel, but I found Touchpad click
sensitivity is less than patching the kernel.

2020-10-06 Thread PD
@Azizkhan
check the patch file and your kernel file if the content for each line is
consistent. If it is, you could copy patch file to kernel folder and run
command "patch -p1 < patchfile"

@wangjun (biggerchina), @Coiby Xu (coiby)
Could you please summarize what you tested and did for patch? I am completely
lost. :D

@wangjun user "dl3it" in that bug has AMD too and he seemed to solve it
by recompile the kernel with elan_i2c as module.

[Bug 1887190] Re: MSFT Touchpad not working on Lenovo Legion-5 15ARH05

2020-09-09 Thread PD
Referring to another case #207759
(https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207759)

I am curious why ideapad 15 has the same Touchpad ID and someone could
solve the issue by blacklist elan-i2c but Legion 15ARH05 cannot,
especially I didn't complied elan-i2c or elants-i2c. Legion 15ARH05
doesn't have touchscreen. Very strange

Your advice doesn't work for me. Kernel 5.8.6

Actually, there is no event triggered by touchpad seen via "libinput

[Bug 77370] Re: Laptop Fan always on after resume from suspend to RAM

2013-04-06 Thread pd
I can also confirm that the above solves the problem. Apparently the
kernel does not know what state are the fans in. This can be solved by
turning them on and off for a brief period of time. Note that this does
not turn the fans off permanently, the cooling is not affected and the
fans continue to work normally. (Well, at least on my laptop.)

Here is the script above again made more general which scans all
laptops:

touch /etc/pm/sleep.d/99fancontrol.sh
chmod +x  /etc/pm/sleep.d/99fancontrol.sh

cat   /etc/pm/sleep.d/99fancontrol.sh
#!/bin/sh
#
# https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.17/+bug/77370
# file /etc/pm/sleep.d/99fancontrol.sh

case $1 in
hibernate|suspend)
# Stopping is not required.
;;

thaw|resume)
# In background.
ls /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/cooling_device*/cur_state | while read A;
do echo 1  $A; echo 0  $A; done
;;

*) exit $NA
;;

Hi Varghese,

Thanks for taking time to write the details. I faced the same problems with
getting tata docomo connected. I used the connection details you mentioned and
bingo! Thanks a bunch.

[Bug 721954] Re: Kernel hangs when using USB storage or printer

2011-02-21 Thread pd
2.6.34-02063407-generic also works so the regression window is somewhere
between 2.6.34 and 2.6.35-22.

[Bug 721954] [NEW] Kernel hangs when using USB storage or printer

2011-02-19 Thread pd
Public bug reported:

I am experiencing a kernel hang when using various external hard drives
and my printer (Canon MP610 driver), all of which I connect using USB.
The general symptom is that when I connect either of these devices, my
system freezes up completely after about 10 minutes. They work just fine
prior to that moment.

I can reproduce this within two minutes by connecting a USB flash drive
and running sudo dd if=/dev/sdb1 of=/dev/null bs=4K

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit on a Dell Studio XPS 16 (Motherboard
1647, Core i5, ATI Radeon HD5730).

I've looked through some of my logs (/var/log/messages seemed the most
useful) but haven't been able to find any kind of USB related logging
nor anything interesting happening prior to the hang. Is there anyway to
enable more verbose debugging of the USB subsystem or some other log I
should be looking at?

I have tested this using various kernels with the following results:
2.6.32-28 (Lucid) - WORKS
2.6.35-22 (Maverick) - HANGS
2.6.35-24 (Maverick) - HANGS
2.6.35-25 (Maverick) - HANGS
2.6.36-020636.201010210905 (mainline from kernel-ppa) - HANGS

So this appears to be a regression introduced at some point between
2.6.32-28 and 2.6.35-22.

aport cant report you a bug, so I really dont know what to to about it.
Its my nightmare since Ubuntu 6.10 (U6.10, 7.04,7.10,8.04b). Please, any

[Bug 68744] Re: USB Harddrive displayed multiple times

2007-07-01 Thread PD
The same hard drives being displayed multiple times also occurs on my
computers. I have three external hard drives formatted in Ext3.
Sometimes they will be displayed twice, which is shown in the attached
picture. If a drive is unmounted, one shortcut will remain and the other
will go away. This can usually be fixed by unplugging all the hard
drives and restarting the computer. The two shortcuts to the same hard
drive aren't exactly the same. One, the real one, has an option to
eject, while the other has an option to unmount the volume. The one that
has an option to unmount the volume is the one that doesn't go away when
the drive is unmounted or disconnected.
