I have found that scheduling a downtime always crashes check-mk-livestatus,
same thing as described in:

I will try to test Ubuntu 16.04 as it was fixed on centos/redhat but not

[Bug 1372284] Re: nagios3 + livestatus: SIGSEGV everyday at midnight

2016-05-28 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Hello,

I have been working hard looking for a workaround and for the root cause of it.
I had 4 servers installed and only one failing with this bug, so I tried to
find the root cause of the issue.

I had reinstalled a server and migrated all history, config, etc to see
if it had something related.

After many tests on both the new and the old one I found a workaround:

First as root:

service nagios3 stop
cd /var/lib/nagios3
rm spool/checkresults/*

I have also deleted retention file but I think it is not a cause of the
problem because I tried only with this file before and nothing was
fixed.

rm retention.dat

Then started the service

service nagios3 start

I have used hourly rotation option on nagios.cfg file, so I tested it
many times and is working smooth now.

[Bug 579292] Re: Switch of user causes display problems

2013-10-02 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Hello,

I don't have exactly same problem, but I found some problems with xorg
when I switch user between openned sessions:

PROBLEM: I have session with 1600x1050 and switch to another user's
session that was previously set with same 1600x1050 resolution. But when
I switch to this session, the screen gets 1280x1024 and for some reason
the size of the session is very very wrong (it is bigger than the screen
resolution and I can't move or click most of the things so I have to
restart all Xorg).

WORKAROUND: Fortunately I have found some way to resolv it in a tricky way:
Change resolution file name with your resolution file.

1-Install get-edid command: sudo apt-get install read-edid
2-Create a bin file with edid information: sudo get-edid > 1600x1050.bin
3-Create a folder to store this file: sudo mkdir /lib/firmware/edid
4-Copy the file: sudo cp 1600x1050.bin
4-Edit grub to edit linux command to load this file in kms:
 -sudo editor /etc/default/grub
 -Edit line:
RUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=edid/1600x1050.bin
quiet"
 Change your name.bin file.
 -sudo update-grub
 5-Reboot and test.

For some reason it worked for me very well.
I have this card and driver:
fglrxinfo
display: :0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon HD 6450
OpenGL version string: 4.2.12002 Compatibility Profile Context 9.012

My edid information file is:

command: #parse-edid < 1600x1050.bin

parse-edid: parse-edid version 2.0.0
parse-edid: EDID checksum passed.

I was looking for other bug report similar in launchpad, but still
looking for the correct one. I would like find a user with same problem
I had, because I think this problems affects many things in KMS (Kernel
mode switch), not just switching between user session, also games in
full screen with different resolution and others things.

It is very hard to find the correct way to report this issue, I would
like to have some help with some Xorg/Kernel team.

I think this could be fixed in some low level, but could be also fixed
with this kind of workaround in some easier way for users: For example
adding some script that test if edid is detected or not, and asking the
user if he liked to let script get the edid info and parse it to the
kernel command, then ask if it was working fine and if the user wants to
keep these settings.

Hope it could help your issue too.

Cheers,
Pablo.

and later to Brazil

It is a very bad route to Brazil, but in all my previous test I saw
something similar (but going to miami first).
Something that I'm sure: We never get good connection to servers in Brazil
and actual uy.archive.ubuntu.com mirror is working very very bad.

At least connection to Argonne National Laboratory is working very very
better in updates, downloads, etc. (On all connections and computers that I
have tried it, more than 10)

[Bug 913158] Re: Uy ubuntu mirror is not in Uruguay is in Brazil and DNS should be changed urgently to miami.

2012-10-15 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Hello Again Pablo,

I don't know if I have explained well my previous message .
I think you or someone else could change the actual uy.archive.ubuntu.com to
work with the server in miami
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+mirror/mirror.anl.gov

This miami server works great for computers in Uruguay (I have tested it
with 10 different type of computers and connections from antel.

Could you change this dns to this miami server?
It will solve the problem that we actually have and we will not need the mirror
in uruguay.

I just have added ubuntu mirror admins Team to this bug, still waiting
someone that could change uy.archive.ubuntu.com to the

Please change it in DNS!

Some days we can't install anything with actual server going to Brazil.
(We have poor connection to Brazil)

** Summary changed:

[Bug 913158] Re: Uy ubuntu mirror is not in Uruguay

2012-09-02 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Main communication company in Uruguay is antel.com.uy
I think, people in http://www.ubuntu.org.uy/ community could help contact
ANTEL.

If you can't contact them, I could try something. (I don't have direct contact,
so please try with ubuntu org uy first).
But while we don't have this local mirror, best option could be to redirect
uy.archive.ubuntu.com to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+mirror/mirror.anl.gov

it works totally better than actual mirror in brazil.

I fogot that I have opened this bug with update-manager related package, and I
opened another bug with updates related:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1038326

Please have a look there, I have done tests and found this other mirror
as the best mirror for Uruguay.

Hello again,

I found this as good mirror for Uruguay
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+mirror/mirror.anl.gov

Could you change uy.a.c to point to this other one?

Cheers!

Re: [Bug 1038326] Re: uy.archive.ubuntu.com does not works well

2012-08-20 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
To go to uy.archive.ubuntu.com traceroute goes from Uruguay
to 198.32.124.176 (US Miami) first, then goes throw others routers until
gets to 200.236.31.4.

Don't know why (it is not managed by me).

So I think we could get better repository in Us. Anyone could change it in
default uy.archive.ubuntu.com if I find correct archive server?

Cheers,
Pablo.

2012-08-20 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Hello,

Well actual mirror in brazil is not working fine for us, maybe it is some
problem with local internet provider (ANTEL). But if I find another closer
and working mirror: Should it be changed? don't you think?

Pablo.

[Bug 913158] [NEW] Uy ubuntu mirror is not in Uruguay

2012-01-07 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Testing mirrors, most of the times I have to change uy.archive.ubuntu.com to
archive.ubuntu.com because this lase one goes faster.
Now in my test uy.archive.ubuntu.com seems to be working quiet normal
(sometimes it goes slower than what I show here), but still a bit slower than
archive.ubuntu.com:

Problem could be because there is no server in uruguay (uy.archive.ubuntu.com
is on Brasil actually).

I don't know if it is possible to get local repository in Uruguay, I
actually not participate in local team. But in my experience actually is
better if for Uruguay we use archive.ubuntu.com, it works better than
uy.archive.ubuntu.com most of the times.

Cheers.
Pablo.

But I didn't find clear information for me, to understand how to change

Note, If I don't finalize quickstart before run shutdown computer, the computer
close gnome session but does not shutdown the system and I have to press and
hold shutdown button in my laptop to turn off this before the SO shutdown.
This is insane for my computer and file system, so I had to remove quickstart

shorcuts for applications, "open file" option and really awesome fast start up
for Open Office Apps each time I have to open some file.

[Bug 627373] [NEW] openoffice.org -quickstart does not automatically close systray when shutdown computer

2010-08-31 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I'm running automatically openoffice.org -quickstart on my desktop GNOME
session (I selected this from options menu inside openoffice.org), but I found
an issue each time I shutdown/close session this application does not
automatically close, just keeps running.
So before I can shutdown/close session, I have to go to quickstart systray and
select Finalize quickstart.

Is there anyoe that has same issue?

[Bug 587971] Re: Deluge high resource usage

2010-08-30 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
I can confirm this is same issue in ubuntu lucid with deluge-gtk 1.2.2-2
(version in official repository).

But now it seems to be fixed in latest deluge stable from ppa,
everything works fine for me in latest version from ppa.
1.2.3+git20100701.131af5a-2~lucid~ppa1

I think deluge in ubuntu repository must be upgraded to this version of
deluge to get it working fine. Is it possible?

I had same problem I think, look at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/573455.
But I'm not sure if it's duplicate bug but it's at least similar, I didn't test
drivers from x-swapp PPA.

Another comment, in step 7 I had problems with the new xorg.conf created
by nvidia-x-config, the previous xorg.conf worked better for my.

[Bug 573455] Re: gdm not starting on bootup with nvidia driver

2010-06-05 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
In this forum http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=167422 I
found some information that fix the problem, basic steps are:

1) Download the correct driver from nvidia web page (I couldn't get it fixed
with Ubuntu driver at any way)
2)Purge nvidia packages: sudo apt-get purge nvidia-*
3) Create the file "/etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-graphics-drivers.conf" with the
following contents:
blacklist vga16fb
blacklist nouveau
blacklist lbm-nouveau
blacklist nvidia-173
blacklist nvidia-96
blacklist nvidia-current
blacklist nvidiafb
4)create or adjust the /etx/X11/xorg.conf file to:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Device0"
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation"
EndSection
5) reboot (You can also unload nvidia modulos and the others that I put in
blacklist with command "modprobe -r module", example: modprobe -r nouveau
6) If you restarted it will tell you that it can't start X ( low graphics mode
) , then choose a text based console login
(if it does start in X, just press ctrl-F1, log yourself in and call "sudo
service gdm stop" or "sudo stop gdm"

7) run the nvidia installer and when it asks to run nvidia-x-config, answer yes
To run the nvidia installer, you should go to the folder with driver (ej: cd
Downloads). Change the installer permissions to be executable (chmod +x
fileoftheinstaller.sh), execute the installer (sudo ./fileoftheinstaller.sh)

8) Restart, it should start xorg automatically

[Bug 420663] Re: acpi does not work properly on Jaunty - MSI PR200

2009-10-09 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Thanks for all this information!

I didn't know this system76, seems to be good.

Also I'm testing Jaunty with Kernel 2.6.31 from Ubuntu from
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux/

Since some weeks ago I have this kernel version working really better on
my laptop and I have no problems with ACPI and power battery status
actually.

Also with kernel 2.6.31 I have no problems with slowness, all the system
works stable and fast in my laptop.

So it can be marked as fixed

[Bug 437250] [NEW] six screens displays after install nvidia driver on nvidia 8200M

2009-09-26 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

After nvidia installation I got 6 screens on one display, I tried to
install newest driver from nvidia.com but same thing. Looking on ubuntu
forum I found this solution:

edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Look for Section ¨Device¨

Add this line:

 Option "ModeValidation" "NoTotalSizeCheck"

Restart X

It´s solved at this way, but I think we should have this note on release
notes for Jaunty at least, also if it´s possible the program nvidia-
xconfig should detect the video card and add this line itself.

Somebody knows about the future architecture for suspend/resume on
Linux?

I heard that new kernel 2.6.30 is ready for some restructure for
suspend/resume, but I'm not sure what is this and when it will be
reimplemented.

I hope this kind of bugs could be fixed before next LTS release, It will
be wonderful for many of us.

[Bug 420663] [NEW] acpi does not work properly on Jaunty - MSI PR200

2009-08-28 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

On laptop MSI PR200 there are many issues with ACPI support, battery
status is not recognized all times, just some times it works, alse there
are some "slowness" when something happens with acpi.

To get better stability on my sistem I have to add acpi=noirq on
menu.lst for my kernel line options.

I wish to get fixed it before Karmic release.

Re: [Bug 213705] Re: (hardy) video play's slow when wireless is working on msi pr200

2009-06-04 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 198453 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198453

Hi people, actually I found some fixes for many issues for my MSI PR200. I
added acpi=noirq no apm and I removed splash from my kernel boot on my grub
menu /boot/grub/menu.list, so it's as this now:

titleUbuntu 9.04, kernel 2.6.28-11-generic
uuid6a16c92d-b2f7-42ca-a384-f91ba8345a5f
kernel/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-11-generic
root=UUID=6a16c92d-b2f7-42ca-a384-f91ba8345a5f ro quiet noapm acpi=noirq
initrd/boot/initrd.img-2.6.28-11-generic
quiet

after that I updated grub with: sudo update-grub

It seems to fix many issues that I never understood before, like keyboard
freezes for some time, touchpad stops working for indetermine time,
unspected slowness for some minutes, sound slowness, etc It seems to be
issues with ACPI and something else, removing splash and adding these lines
seems to help.

Could you test?

Pablodav

[Bug 96991] Re: 3D stuff breaks with Compiz: Redirected Direct Rendering is needed in DRI

2009-05-06 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Hi t fix all these things I updated xserver-xorg-video-intel to version 2.7 and
put this in /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Option "UseFBDev" "true"
Option "AccelMethod" "UXA"
EndSection

(It could be done with sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf)

Follow this page to get instructions how to install latest version of
intel driver from x-updates:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates

The latest version of intel video driver fixes many, many many things!!!

perfomance is really enhanced (test it with glxgears for example)

Many issues with video like glxgears, googleearth, compiz, and things
like that are fixed!!

I suggested this version of driver should be default driver for Jaunty
and others but somebody rejected my opinion and said to me "if you want
to get latest driver install it from x-updates"

Then I'm trying to resolve this myself.

If you want to enable compiz in Jaunty you can do it adding this SKIP_CHECKS=yes
 to one of these files:

~/.config/compiz/compizconfig/config
~/.config/compiz/compiz-manager

I added the line to both files because I'm not sure wich one is correct
in Ubuntu, but at least it is working really great than before!

[Bug 368220] Re: xserver-xorg-video-intel driver must be version 2.7 in Jaunty and others

2009-04-27 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
I forgot to say this:

If you check bugs related with xserver-xorg-video-intel driver package
you will found 323 bugs!! too many
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel

I think 90 percent of them could be fixed with this 2.7 intel driver.

[Bug 368220] [NEW] xserver-xorg-video-intel driver must be version 2.7 in Jaunty and others

2009-04-27 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

In Ubuntu Jaunty we have disabled compiz, we have many issues with Intel
driver since Jaunty is released and before.

Many hundred of these issues are fixed in 2.7 Intel driver
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2009-April/045117.html

Maybe there is some possibility to add this driver to Jaunty and remove
from compiz black list the Intel GM965 driver.

Also there are many issue with UXA fixed in this release.

[Bug 366476] Re: TuxGuitar must be version 1.1

2009-04-25 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
You are in true...

Now I installed tuxguitar-jsa and gervill is displayed and working fine
with this...

So maybe to fix this tuxguitar-jsa should be a dependency and used by
default for tuxguitar, or some note in Description for tuxguitar package
should be added about this.

Ok, I'm testing it now. I installed from your PPA:
dpkg -s tuxguitar
Package: tuxguitar
Status: install ok installed

Suggests: tuxguitar-jsa (= 1.1-0ubuntu0~rzr1), lilypond

TuxGuitar is a multitrack Guitar tablature editor and player.
It can open GP3, GP4, and GP5 files and exports in MIDI and PDF.

But it's not working fine, from Preferences -> sound. Gervill option does not
appears as a Midi Port, so I can't hear anything..

[Bug 366476] [NEW] TuxGuitar must be version 1.1

2009-04-24 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tuxguitar

Actually tuxguitar is not working fine in ubuntu since pulseaudio is working in
Ubuntu, see:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/timidity/+bug/210472

It makes Ubuntu too hard to get TuxGuitar working fine for some users, the best
solution that we see is to include latest version of tuxguitar or at least
leave a message in tuxguitar package to recomend users to download latest
version from http://tuxguitar.com.ar/download.html
There users can get a .deb package that works fine for Ubuntu, important thing
to note is users should remove tuxguitar-1.0 package before install tuxguitar
1.1 - I got error message trying to update because there are some differences
in packaging I think.

Another note that should be wrote is, users should change midi port to
Gervill inside Preferences -Sound after open TuxGuitar first time, It's
necessary to get Tux Guitar working totally well.
