[Bug 1975778] Re: 22.04 raspi image needs larger boot partition

2022-05-25 Thread Pablo V
I have no idea which package sets the size of the vfat partition. I
downloaded the image, wrote it to a usb3-connected dual drive (raid1)
enclosure and plugged it into a pi 4. Booted and followed the
instructions from there. I'm running mirrored 2 tb drives. If the
installer offered me the option of expanding this partition I would have
been generous and expanded it to at least 1 gigabyte

[Bug 1975778] [NEW] 22.04 raspi image needs larger boot partition

2022-05-25 Thread Pablo V
Public bug reported:

After installing updates to jammy 22.04 on my pi 4, i was getting
warning messages about the vfat partition mounted on /boot/firmware
being low on space. The updates included kernel updates. My workaround
for now is rm /boot/firmware/*.bak

Rather than muck around with gparted, I will just delete these *.bak
files after each kernel upgrade. I plan to do a fresh install with each
point release until this and some other bugs (which I will file soon)
are gone.

[Bug 1286882] Re: libapache2-mpm-itk postinst failed

2014-05-01 Thread Pablo V
I just want to make this workaround clear.

The commenters having problems should make sure apache2 is running with
mpm-prefork worker before trying to install mpm-itk. The workaround for
my servers may or may not solve the problem for you. It's just four
lines at the at root command prompt. Prefix each with sudo if you are
not logged in as root:

# a2dismod mpm_event
# a2enmod mpm_prefork
# service apache2 restart
# apt-get install libapache2-mpm-itk

[Bug 1286882] [NEW] libapache2-mpm-itk postinst failed

2014-03-02 Thread Pablo V
Public bug reported:

On Trusty(14.04) I wasn't able to install libapache2-mpm-itk until I
manually changed the current apache2 configuration to use the mpm-
prefork worker instead of the mpm-event worker it was using:

This is what I got before making the fix:

Setting up libapache2-mpm-itk (2.4.6-01-1) ...
dpkg: error processing package libapache2-mpm-itk (--install):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 libapache2-mpm-itk

This is the config fix I made:

# a2dismod mpm_event
# a2enmod mpm_prefork
# service apache2 restart

That change eliminated the install failure:

Installing /var/cache/apt/archives/libapache2-mpm-itk_2.4.6-01-1_amd64.deb
(Reading database ... 91772 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack .../libapache2-mpm-itk_2.4.6-01-1_amd64.deb ...
Unpacking libapache2-mpm-itk (2.4.6-01-1) over (2.4.6-01-1) ...
Setting up libapache2-mpm-itk (2.4.6-01-1) ...
apache2_invoke: Enable module mpm_itk
 * Restarting web server apache2 [ OK ]

[Bug 990331] Re: Big Thunderbird problems after Ubuntu bugfix update

2012-04-29 Thread Pablo V
Right after I posted my previous comment I googled and found a solution
for the folder view switching. There is an extension available that
provides it now. It's called "Folder Pane View Switcher" and it works
just fine. I provide a URL below but it's not needed if you use the
thunderbird add-on manager to download and install it.

switcher/

[Bug 990331] Re: Big Thunderbird problems after Ubuntu bugfix update

2012-04-29 Thread Pablo V
Thanks, Micah Gersten, for providing that information. My CompactHeader
extensions got upgraded automatically yesterday or today. It's working
fine now. I removed the Blinking Alert extension because this version of
thunderbird provides a good alert feature. I still miss having the
clickable arrows at the top of the folder list. It made it so easy to
switch folder view between all and unread.

[Bug 990331] Re: Big Thunderbird problems after Ubuntu bugfix update

2012-04-28 Thread Pablo V
I will note that I am also experiencing some frustration after this
update. It looks to me like this was much more than a bugfix. My add-ons
(Blinking Alert, CompactHeader) don't work. There are some changes to
the UI that I don't like. For example : Previously I just had to click
an arrow icon to change folder view (all, unread, etc.). Now I have to
navigate the menus to do it. It's like the look and feel is changed in
various areas.

[Bug 627862] Re: USB Mouse freezes randomly but consistently

2011-06-11 Thread Pablo V
I upgraded to natty and still had problems. I moved the hard drives to a
new mainboard a 6-core phenom and 8gb ECC ram. That's been up for 29
days now. I've decided to try using the old Asus M3N78 Pro with USB
disabled at bios level. It will be used only to run some virtual
machines. I'll plug an old ps2 keyboard and crt monitor into it and I
won't even need a mouse. If I had multiple systems with this buggy
chipset I would try harder to make it work.

[Bug 627862] Re: USB Mouse freezes randomly but consistently

2011-03-20 Thread Pablo V
I'm also using the M3N78 Pro with an onboard GeForce 8300. I've had
problems with it's USB support since day one (which was a debian 4
install). Every time I have a problem with a device I try it on another
64-bit system using a different mobo/chipset and also on an old 32-bit
sempron system. I can get things like bluetooth dongles, cameras, cell
phones, etc. to work fine on those systems. The M3N78 Pro is "volatile"
when it comes to USB hotplugging. Plugging a device in often takes down
most of the USB functionality.

As I pointed out in an earlier post, my biggest problem is that I am
using a KVM switch designed for USB keyboard and mouse. Switching away
from this server and then back to it usually triggers the problem. It
will do it with cli or gui. I ssh to it from another system connected to
the kvm and issue a reboot command.

I'm definitely going to replace the motherboard. I've had these problems
with every debian and ubuntu kernel I tried on it.

[Bug 627862] Re: USB Mouse freezes randomly but consistently

2011-02-07 Thread Pablo V
I'm going to try the boot options suggested above. This bug is affecting
me because I have a KVM switch connected to this recently-built maverick
server system. It's one that switches USB keyboard and mouse. When I
switch away from the maverick system and switch back, I've lost the usb
keyboard and mouse. The other 3 ports on the switch connect to a debian
lenny server, a debian etch server and a new laptop running win 7. I've
experienced this with linux-image-2.6.35-24-server kernel and the latest
linux-image-2.6.35-25-server kernel.

My point is that this could be a showstopper bug for some people running
servers because they need to connect/disconnect keyboard and mouse
without rebooting. Perhaps the importance of this bug should be set
accordingly.
